One thing I loved about National Lampoon magazine in the 70's were Sam Gross' cartoons. Bugs and the Warner Bros. cast did have the most effect on me though, even my introduction to classical music. Rossini especially. "Sufferin' sucatash" -

Oooh ya I still have a thing for Mars Bars. And their old spokesperson, Nancy Greene. Oh I truly believed in "A Mars Bar a day, at work, rest or play." It did not improve my skiinng as much as I thought it would. Seemed to work for Nancy POPSICLES. You used to get 5 for a quarter and I could eat them all before they melted on my way home from the variety store. Banana was the best. -

Sit on couch with 1 jar of peanut butter. Apple in left hand, knife in right. Place 1 dollop of peanut butter on apple. Bite and chew.. Repeat until apple is finished. Then repeat with apples until the peanut butter is finished. -
Walking or snowshoeing with your dog. Their excitement to get out there, no matter the weather, is contagious. Watching your 10 year old dog act like a puppy, rolling in the snow or sniffing around with her head buried deep in a drift. We're lucky to be near places where she can run free expecially when parts of the river freeze over.

A woman and man who both knew how to dance. Cyd Charisse and Gene Kelly. I still remember the first time I saw her on TV with those legs that when on and on, dancing in long heels. -
Scheduling can be one of the areas that a contractor has the hardest time to manage, especially if it a small operation in a highly competitive field. These days, or any days there is no excuse for a lack of communication to let a client know if you are late or have to postpone. I was fortunate to have worked for a few good contractors before I started my own business and they all knew that not just the quality of your work but your ablilty to communicate and keep the client informed made for a better and lasting relationship. Over the years we just learned to do most of the trades ourselves, non licensed that is. Something as straightforward as eavestrough or a washing machine should be a no brainer. A lot of times it goes to staffing issues, finding quality employees who care about your company. There are a lot of good companies out there but they can be hard to find, even for guys in the business.
