I've been blessed. My father passed away nearly 23 years ago from cancer. But not at Christmas. Christmas for me has always been a wonderful time of joy and togetherness. I will be spending lots of time with my mother this Christmas. I can't help thinking of those parents in Connecticut right now. The presents for their darling children purchased, maybe even wrapped. And now all that stolen from them. Cherish those you love this Christmas. Hold them tight, love them with every fiber of your being. Life is so precious, and so fragile. For me, I give thanks for my children this year, and that they are healthy and happy. They're getting a bit to old for me to hold them in a bear hug and not let go ... but I'll be doing it emotionally. And I'm going to give thanks for Penelope's own Christmas miracle. What a great joyful event this little child's birth is for her. Porthos

I would second that wish ... I'd also wish that this is the last time we ever hear of such a thing. That everyone would put their guns and weapons down, that those who are troubled and mentally ill get the help they need. That the innocent children of this world would all have the chance to grow up, and realize the joys of life! That we really could find a way to find peace on earth. The events yesterday have left me feeling depressed about the quality of humanity in this world!

Totally agree with this ... one of my best and most memorable experiences at a strip club was when I had arranged to meet one of my favourite dancers at the club and that she would spend till closing with me. No extras involved, just lot's of fun. A lot of time in the CR, time out on the floor having drinks and flirting, back to the CR. Was so much fun. And no worries, no counting, the fee had been set in advance, and no hustle from other girls. Just a great time. It might have been expensive, but less expensive than on a per dance rate, and I probably would have spent that much anyway. Porthos

I'll confess to not having read the website or articles, I'll go back and do it later. But, based on the discussion in this thread, it may be true that "nice" people can commit crimes ... but when they do they still need to be PUNISHED. There is no mitigation because you're nice all the rest of the time "except" when you commit rape. Just my .02. Porthos

I don't go to clubs very often. So when I do I always verify the price per dance with the first dancer I take to the CR. My trips are so infrequent I'm expecting one day to find that the price has gone up. After that it should be standard for all dancers at the club, unless you negotiate something different (and that would normally be a better rate for a fixed amount of time). I always, from time to time, usually after 3 or 4 dances, confirm the count. "this will be number 4 won't it". Doing that early on tells you if the girl is prone to miscounting, and the dances can be cut off. If she hasn't started miscounting, it also tells her that you're on the ball, know the count, and are keeping track. If a dancer tried to charge more than the standard fee per dance I'd definitely go to management. Good possibility she'd get canned. Unless some sort of "beyond normal service" was being delivered there is no basis for charging above the standard fee. And if more was delivered without discussion in advance (which sometimes happens), then that doesn't change the per dance fee structure, but it should change how much is tipped. Porthos

In the spirit of being non-judgemental I'll try to get over my own "ick" reaction. Not much in the way of sexual practices cause that reaction in me. Lots of things that don't turn me on, or that i'm not interested in, but they don't make me recoil. Incest, even consensual adult incest, is one of those. Yes, I'm a victim of my own socialization to taboo. But, having said that, I think it is probably true that so long as people are consenting adults then it's not for me to judge. Incest with children, however, is still totally wrong ... but that falls in my category of sex with children. Porthos

I've previously said in another thread that we shouldn't be judgemental about people's sexual preferences. there are, of course, exceptions. Incest, child pornography and sex with children, and sexual violence that isn't consensual. Those one's I feel fine being judgemental about. I find the mom-daughter thing more than a little icky!

My favs are: A Christmas Carol (with Alastair Sim) It's a Wonderful Life Miracle on 34th street (original version) I also like the Bells of St. Mary's and White Christmas ... how can it be Christmas without Bing Crosby??? But of course The Grinch that Stole Christmas (original animated version) has to be part of the holiday season.
