  1. I agree with many of your points Backrubman. Damage calculations are always tricky, but trademark infringements don't necessarily depend on demonstrating damage. Ultimately you want injunctive relief. Yes, lawyers cost money. Sometimes it's wort it. In cases like this, the people doing the stealing are likely not in a position where they want to hire lawyers to defend themselves against a claim. A threatening letter from a lawyer might just do the trick. Starting out with that isn't very expensive, and doesn't necessarily commit you to going all the way down the road. But you do need to think about whether you're prepared to travel the road. Very much an individual choice and personal assessment, especially given the nature of the business. Porthos
  2. George Lucas strikes back. At last a believable explanation for the prequels. Apologies if this has already been posted
  3. Legal action is definitely the way to go. Lawyers letters to the people doing the copying, but more importantly, to the hosting site/Internet service provider. You need to think of this as copywright/trademark infringement. If I were to copy a McDonald's ad word for word, jingle and everything, but just substitute Burger King for McDonald's in the copy, I'd have my ass sued off. This is the same sort of thing ... A passing off and an effort to mislead/confuse consumers. And just because the business is a little "off the grid" in terms of what most commercial lawyers will see, doesn't change the nature of the issue. In the same way your accountant doesn't care, (business revenue, expenses, and taxes are the same regardless), so the lawyer won't either. Short of that, track them down and put their heads on pikes, Game of Thrones style!!! Porthos
  4. Fishing in someone else's pond is a dangerous game. To mix metaphors, if you play with fire be prepared to get burned.
  5. Great scene in Breaking Bad where badger gets arrested, believing that the US constitution requires cops to answer honestly if they are asked whether they are a cop. Of course he's told this by the cop busting him.
  6. If I could have any dog I wanted, it would be one of these, an Irish Wolfhound: Adorable puppy And full grown monster! of course I'd need a second mortgage just to feed the thing, but wow, now that is a dog! Porthos
  7. Watching my children grow up as they discover they can achieve things they once thought impossible. Innocence gives way to excitement of the adventure ahead. Porthos
  8. Sadly I fear you are quite right. I'm frequently amazed at how self-delusional people can be. Sometimes it seems impossible to believe that it is not willful blindness. But, powers of rationalization and self-deception can be very great. And blaming others is always easier than taking a long hard look at yourself. And even more unfortunately, blaming women has been a centuries old tradition for some men. I continue to hope we are moving past that. Porthos
  9. Agree completely, and I suspect that if you're getting turned down a lot, probably a few minutes of self-reflection will probably reveal the reason why! Porthos
  10. I rarely go to strip clubs anymore. Too much temptation. But my god I do love them. When I do go, however, (and this might be once a year) I go prepared to indulge like the kid in the candy store. So in that case I'll settle in, and likely get dances from several girls. If nothing clicks with one I'll only get a couple of dances. If I'm enjoying myself, I might get 6-8 dances (maximum is 10). Depends on how much money I have. When I do this I typically might take upwards of 800.00 - 1000.00 with me for the night. If I leave with anything I consider myself to have a windfall! But, like I said, this is a very rare occurrence. In fact, it's probably been 3 years since I've been in a club. Porthos
  11. One of the reasons I love it when a lady has an auto-reply function on their e-mail. I then know that a) she received the e-mail and b) that I'm getting her replies. The auto-reply also usually sets out a time frame for when my e-mail will most likely be replied to. That way, once that time frame passes, I don't feel like a quick e-mail follow up is out of order. 12. In general I'd prefer someplace to put my clothes, rather than in a pile on the floor. But sometimes that just seems to be where they end up, and sometimes I don't even know how that happens. Who's going to complain about that!!!! Sure isn't going to be me!! Porthos
  13. Beauty, brains, grace, femininity, and burning sensuality! The ladies of CERB rock! Porthos
  14. Congrats on an incredible achievement. Keep them coming.
  15. I haven't been on much this past week so I missed this. great idea Peachy. Not sure I'll have the time to read everything, but I'll give it a go. Porthos
  16. As always ... an amazing entry in the pooner diaries. Thanks Birdboy. A great post.
  17. Well, not much to add here. Gabriella said it beautifully. I continue to be amazed. Given this business involves women dedicating themselves to the pleasure of men, it sure seems to bring out the very worst in some men.
  18. As others have said, far too many people to thank. So, for this post I'm going to thank Emily Rushton. Emily was the first CERB lady I saw on my return to CERB and my return to active hobbying. I really didn't have an active provider to use as a reference, so I gave emily a fair amount of personal info (work website with my profile, phone, etc) to verify my identity. But of course, I was actually in St. John's rather than at my regular workplace. I explained the circumstances of this to Emily. Little did I know that my NL e-mail wasn't functioning properly, and her replies to my e-mail were bouncing back to her. She would have been totally justified in writing me off, but she went to the information I had provided, and I received this incredibly dscrete and tactful e-mail on my main work address. If someone had been pranking us, her e-mail would have disclosed nothing of the nature of our business together. Of course I saw Emily on her next visit to St. John's and several time after that. A beautiful lady, but more importantly a beautiful person. Sexy, smart, who carries herself with grace and professionalism. So, to Emily Rushton a huge thank you for persisting. In many ways she brought me back to this community and all the joys it can provide.
  19. Just joking .... Like Jabba, I don't think this would do anything for me ... so all I meant was that the fact that the ladies I see haven't initiated it it is fine by me. Right ladies for me ... not implying anything beyond that. I realize that my comments could have been misinterpreted. Wasn't intending to cast any sort of judgement. I can see it would be fun and playful. Porthos
