  1. Original article in french (used google translate for this posting) Panels saying "Sex prohibited" may soon join the traditional "no smoking" and "no eating" at the entrance of the temples of the Indonesian island of Bali after the scandal caused by tourists caught making love in a holy place. The couple of Estonians was discovered in the act in an Hindu temple of Saraseda by officials that were checking the status of repairs. Alerted, the police briefly questioned the tourists before releasing them. "They told us that they really did not know it was forbidden to have sex in the temples in Bali," said AFP Friday Hadi Purnomo, the head of the local police. "They were then let go and the case was referred to the village leaders who decided to make them pay a fine of 20 million rupees" ($ 2,130), he added. The money will fund a ceremony to "purify" the temple, local officials said, adding they planned now display panel "Gender forbidden" at the entrance to places of worship.

  4. Some of the clubs have flat fees posted (Pigales and Barefax did at least last time i went, not sure about the other clubs). You can get a half hour for 200$ and an hour for 300$. I used that a long while ago with dancers i knew well; we just set a timer on one of our cell phone, so no worries about counting songs. I'll also refer you to this thread, which has an interesting post by our very own Bridgette, so hopefully it'll help ....
  5. Tried to do homemade dough for pizza. Monumental failure. Pizza is being cooked in a bread pan, and looks like a deformed mutant. Still gonna be good eats though. That is all.
  6. I have realised i havent been posting on this thread in months. There has been a lot of talk about bacon sandwiches lately, so here goes.... The first written usage of the English word (Bacon) "Sandwich" appeared in Edward Gibbon's journal, in longhand, referring to "bits of cold meat" as a "Sandwich". It was named after John Montagu (perhaps a distant ancestor of Old Dog as you'll see why), 4th Earl of Sandwich, an 18th-century English aristocrat. It is said that he ordered his valet to bring him meat (read Bacon) tucked between two pieces of bread, and because Montagu also happened to be the Fourth Earl of Sandwich, others began to order "the same as Sandwich!" It is said that Lord Sandwich was fond of this form of food because it allowed him to continue playing cards, particularly cribbage, while eating without getting his cards greasy from eating meat (i.e. Bacon) with his bare hands.
  7. I've spent many hours deep underwater (scuba diving at a 100 feet or in high current or in zero visibility water), yet, i cant stand having my feet off the ground (am not fond of heights); bungee jumping, sky diving etc ... never been much my cup of tea.

  11. "Tell me and I'll forget. Show me, and I may not remember. Involve me, and I'll understand." - Tribe Unknown. -------------------------- A Native American boy was talking with his grandfather. "What do you think about the world situation?" he asked. The grandfather replied, "I feel like wolves are fighting in my heart. One is full of anger and hatred; the other is full of love, forgiveness, and peace." "Which one will win?" asked the boy. To which the grandfather replied, "The one I feed."

  14. A few highlights today: The main one: I visited a lady-friend i hadn't seen in months (last we saw each other was very quickly in passing), so it was nice to sit down and to chat and catch up a bit. This was followed by a tad of shopping for clothes initially, but the first mall yielded some new tools of the trade for me. Second mall yielded a few clothing items i was looking for a while. These just might make someone smile a little bit. And now, after all the walking around, i sat down and i am enjoying a bottle of this (and its pretty darn good stuff):

  17. The following is by no means a dietician's opinion, nor a doctor's, but the carbohydrates (sugars) come from the starch in pasta. Whole wheat pastas, with a high fiber content, slow down the absorption of sugars, thus avoiding (at least) some of the sugar spike. Fortified pasta could be an alternative (high in protein, from eggs or legumes, and with added barley or oats for fibers). Quinoa, Barley and spaghetti squash are often used as alternative to pastas as well (cooked in a stock would give more flavour). I believe veggie ribbons made from non-starchy veggies are a good alternative as well as (zucchini, yellow summer squash, eggplant, peppers and cabbage) but i have never tried them. Cant think of common brand names, but hopefully this will give you some ... food for thought (haha) for what to look for....
