I have had the chance to meet Jasmine at last week's social and, as for many, she hadn't gotten unnoticed. During the following days, we have had a chance to get to know each other via chat before meeting. Many would certainly agree with me that she can light up a room, and that getting to know her reveals a sweet, funny, and down to earth person. Time seemed to fly by... For those that know me well around these parts know that i do not tend to meet new friends very often, and consider meeting again. I certainly hope that this will reveal the kind of person that she is...

From Metro Ottawa An arrest in relation to the murders of two sex workers brought a â??tremendous sense of reliefâ? to the community, according to advocate Emily Symons. But Symons, the chair of Prostitutes of Ottawa/Gatineau Work, Educate, Resist (POWER), said more needs to be done to increase safety for women in the sex trade. â??Itâ??s been over a year since then Chief Vern White issued his warning to women and sex trade workers in Ottawa, and we certainly havenâ??t forgotten about that,â? said Symons on Thursday. â??But weâ??re also very concerned because we feel that policing in Ottawa puts sex workers at risk.â? Symons comments came hours after a press conference at police headquarters, where Police Chief Charles Bordeleau confirmed Marc Leduc, 56, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the death of Pamela Kosmack, 39, and Leanne Lawson, 23. There, Bordeleau urged women in the sex trade to be vigilant and safe. Bordeleau said sex workers should keep to well-lit areas, work in pairs, and contact police if they donâ??t feel safe. â??Their safety is important to police, and that help is available,â? Bordeleau said. Symons said that, if police really want to improve sex workersâ?? safety, enforcement has to change â?? starting with a moratorium on â??street sweepsâ? and mass arrests. â??When sex workers fear that the police are going to conduct a street sweep, then they may abandon these safety strategies,â? Symons said. At the press conference, Bordeleau would not say if police are actively investigating whether Leduc was involved in the murders of four other sex workers in the Ottawa area â?? but neither did he rule that out. â??Weâ??re here today to speak about the two homicides, the ones that Leduc has been charged with,â? said Bordeleau. â??Obviously we are looking at all our other unsolved homicides to see if there are any investigative opportunities with respect to those.â?

Yesterday's baking tured out good (i tried it and a lady friend tried it). A little bit of this, a little of that should make it better. Lets call it creative baking. That way, i'll have a few extras should something happen later this week ... :icon_razz:

Its sometimes the little things (this could very well be in the First World Problems thread too by the way) that go awry, in a way. I think i fouled up a recipe while baking yesterday - I forgot to add an ingredient. Will have to taste-test the result today and if not up to par to my standards, i'll have to start it over again. Luckily, it's not a complicated recipe.

We have to have at least 5 posts AND be a member here for at least 5 days before being able to start a reco thread, hence why they are sometimes posted in this section when there isn't a recommendation thread already. here and here.

I read it as Gulf of Mexico .. we frenchies often invert words in english :icon_razz: (happens to me a lot too). There are indeed lots of lovely latin countries bordering the Gulf.

Last day of work after 18 months which were a hell of a ride, particularly the last 2 weeks. Brushed up and closed a few files till mid-late afternoon, did my milk run to get signatures to pack my office, only to have my colleagues waiting for me to give me a good-bye card. As i did my round of the floor before leaving, i realized i'll miss my coworkers. Between the ups and downs at work, it's the best group of people i ever worked with at this point.

I had reported it before the crash (last week), couldn't see it for a while but wasnt a big deal for me. The programming team was working on it, but it'll take time. With today's crash, i bet it will not be a priority.

Found this french article here. A Johannesburg court dismissed a complaint filed by a man who wanted to sue the bank where his wife worked, because she had fallen in love with a colleague, reported Saturday South African newspaper Beeld. "The complaint of Mr. Ramnath Dessie is bizarre. He argues that (the bank) FirstRand is one way or the other responsible for the pain and suffering caused by the liaison of his wife, "found Nigel Willis, quoted by the newspaper Afrikaans. "I know that litigants can be imaginative in Johannesburg, but this complaint deserves a special award," he added, noting that the South African law does not provide for such a case. "I'm not completely sure that in this country we can allow people to claim damages because people fall in love at work. It happens all the time! " Mr. Ramnath's case, who believed that FirstRand should be held responsible because it is by working that his wife met her lover, was dismissed and ordered to pay the legal costs incurred by the Bank.
