1. I like Cub, even as we don't chat often, have never met, and are just about opposite side of the country, when we do end u chatting, its alway like meeting an old time friend.
2. Being recommended a 'rockin good music album this morning in chat. Its a good pick me up!!
3. had an early super of leftover turkey, homemade gravy, mashed potatoes with carrots. Fresh, homemade apple cookies are in the oven.
4. arck, some will say it doesnt really suck ;-), but having done all my house chores early, i got bored this afternoon and had to keep busy. Just put a batch of cookies in the oven. Too much food, but there is that zen feeling about cooking and baking...
5. What's not to like about MF? Whenever i need a good laugh, i just go read a few of the jokes he posts.
6. I'll have to dig out my Edgar Allan Poe book and rediscover it. I've gotten two books, in keeping with my october reading. "The Weird", a compendium of dark and strange stories, ranging form stories written in 1908 (The Other Side, by Alfred Kubin) to today, including stories by Neil Gaiman, William Gibson, and Georges RR Martin. Second anthology i got is "The Trackery T. Lambshead Cabinet of Curiosities". It's going to be interesting reads.
7. I like Angela for her insight on many of the threads and topics.
8. Mmmm. i think i'll sound a bit disjointed and a tad blunt in trying to reply to this thread this morning (coffee, coffee, where are you?) ... While i do tend to see a handful of ladies frequently, i do see them as i believe we get well along to see each other, as each visit with the ladies i know provides something different (I certainly do appreciate the ladies company i know to see them often, and each visit gets to be a little different), and it's always nice to know you are appreciated. Fortunateone and Angela have put this idea better than i ever could this morning. I must say also that receiving a suggestion from an SP for another is great (happened to me recently). Just goes to show that While i might see a restricted number of ladies, it does not mean that i do not wish to see new ladies, nor does it mean that i do not appreciate the company of others i have previously met, but haven't had the chance of visiting recently. In reference to Sara's business analogy, and to be blunt, if i'd really feel to be considered exclusive to an SP, well, i'd suddenly wouldn't be .... Hopefully this makes sense...
9. Thanks for the ideas. I have read some of King's works a few years ago. Most of the books i liked at the time were ones he had written under the pseudonym of Richard Bachman (such as running man and the long walk). I had tried reading The Stand then, but never stuck to the story somehow. I'll have to revisit. Christopher Moore i have heard good things about, and he is on my list to look at. I found that more and more women authors write in the genre - Kim Harrison and Laurell K. Hamilton come to mind. Sirens, a collection of short stories, edited by Ellen Datlow and Terri Windling is another i enjoyed reading. There are many authors to sift through in this type of fiction, but few, i find, have novel approaches to the ideas.
10. Sophia V's post "One SPOOKY october morning!" (especially the link she has put to the reading of Poe's Raven) and Peachy's bookclub thead inspires this thread. In Octobober, leading up to and including Halloween, i tend to watch a little more scary movies or shows, or read "horror" stories. Poe is great to read, but also H.P.Lovecraft, and Brian Lumley, among others. I seem to often go back to Lovecraft (i've re-read the stories many times since i was a kid), as his stories build a long standing mythos used by many authors and storytellers of the genre. You can find here a of what he created. So, for the readers of CERB who like the Horror Genre, what are you fave stories. You can post titles, or even links to readings.
11. Guilty as charged!! Now to get prepared .... To the hardware store!!!
12. This thread reminds me to the one i made here, at least parts of it. I've just it 40, and like porthos, i tended to ignore birthdays. This year it bothered me for a few days but i realized its just what it is .. a number. I haven't suddenly grown old, nor do i feel more mature. I still remain the same person. True, i may not look just quite like i looked liked 20 years ago, but still, its all in between the ears. Its all about keeping a youthfull mindset i think, and accepting oneself as we are.
13. I have some catching up to do, as i havent gone through season 2 yet, and watched the first one a while back. Great series!
14. Mmmmmm Halloween is a little less than a month away. Time to "revive" this thread.... with a possible halloween anthem, I'm feeling zombified, by Alien Sex Fiend.
15. Since we are in apple season, i tried a new cookie recipe (apple oatmeal). The house actually smells like apple pie.
16. How can i forget Trivial Pursuit, and a french board game called Docte Rat (francophones will wee quickly the play on words).
17. Monopoly, Battleship, risk, Axies and Allies come to mind. We used to play an old game called Stock Ticker (stock market game) where we'd trade stocks. Me and friends used to play a fantasy board game called Talisman. Nightmare was popular at halloween with us, where the boardgame was played with a tape on tv.
18. I'm single as well, but when i pull that line, my cat looks at me funny...
19. I dont usually follow Football, but this gets me interested:
20. I'd live under the sea. Would you rather: Be sensually hand fed fruits, or have a light touch run up and down your body?
21. I, for one, don't think you should feel bad if you are getting turned on during a visit, au contraire. For me, It means something is being done right, that there is chemistry going. If i'm doing something that the lady likes, i try to pay attention to the cues she gives out or, better, that she tells me outright that she likes whatever i am doing, or are just turned on. It takes two to tango, so to speak. So, yes, knowing about it makes a good time for the both of us.
22. Milestones: Noun, meaning major dates, events, turning points. NOT the restaurant ... Iâ??ve been a member here for about 3 years (in 3 weeks or so). Things seems to be coming in threes. It dawned on me today that i should be sharing this little story here. An exutoire, i dont know. The word seems strong. But i do know iâ??d like to share 3 of my milestones i have had this month. Let me tell you about them. But first, a little context. Over the past year and a half, i have been removing and adding things from my «list», so to speak. Iâ??ll concentrate on things related to this board. Since i became a member, Iâ??ve tried a few things i would not have tried otherwise. Iâ??ve met great like minded people through posts, and socials. I mentioned I added a few items since the May 2011 social (some who know me well enough on this board might very well remember our discussion at this point). Iâ??ll come to one of them soon. Hopefully, it will all make sense. Now, here we are, my milestones: 1- The event: Iâ??ve recently changed decade earlier this month. I do not feel old. Nor do i think i am. Iâ??ve recently been told by a lady of this board that i dont even remotely look it. Yet, it is a step. And only that. A step. One that you might cringe at and quickly move on, at least that is what i think. A step that got me thinking, even for a short while. I wanted to share the «event», make it somewhat special. Take another step. Cross something off the «list». Which leads me to : 2- The act: «You wanted to try something?», you ask? Definitely. Along the way here on CERB, i met virtually and in real life some great people who, in their own way (an ear to listen, friendly discussions, and some play-time hints and suggestions) reminded me of whom i am. So I tried something new recently. Do not ask what, its not really the point i am trying to make. Of course, of course, it was an enjoyable time!! It is someting i should have done a good long time ago. But it recently hapened. Why is that important? Read on. 3- The note: This post, is the third item (remember i mentioned things coming in threes). To share and to go on. To remind myself to keep being me. Iâ??ve caught up on some recos i had been meaning to post for a while, which in a way led me to this. Something i felt like i needed doing. To share in my journey, so far. And to thank the marvelous people, the ladies first and foremost. The ladies that are, in a sense, a mirror, in which i remember who i am. Life happens too quickly, and it is way too easy to forget about ourselves... who we are. So, essentially, i am taking a few minutes to write this as a big, a great special thank you to the CERB ladies i know, and, of course, have met! Until next time we meet.
