Adams and Gaiman, good choices. William S Burroughs would be a fave of mine. Burroughs is considered one of the fathers of the Beat generation. Naked Lunch and Junky are two faves of mine. Douglas Coupland, author of Generation X and J-Pod would be another. I'll put some more as think of them.... Maybe after a few coffes...

It's been a year and a hair that i have been "hobbying". Now, being a guy, i'm not great with anniversary dates, but i'm close enough; Time to visit Meg again to celebrate ... my first visit ever.... What more can i say; as beautiful as i remember, always smiling, always great company ... Life is grand...

Personal preference, I prefer visiting SP's at their incall location. I cannot do outcall at my place and finding an hotel of my own in town for a meeting seems counter productive for me. Visiting another city (or if i was visiting Ottawa on business, say), now that would be different.... Now, to answer your question on incalls, wether that it's her place (her primary residence), a hotel room or any other dedicated place is not relevant for me per se, as long as said SP (or MP) is comfortable in her chosen location. A thought, in my mind, a place should be "neutral looking" for all involved especially for a first visit. By that i mean to avoid personal questions that may be .... too personal (by accident). I wouldn't want to ask a question innocently and make my host inadvertently unconfortable. Not sure if it answers your question, at least from my point of view ....

The only one i knew existed was Hot Shots, in Gatineau, but it closed years ago.

Pigales had a series of features last fall - once a month i think-. I was told by dancers it had an impact, to a degree, on them as patrons would get in to see the feature and nothing else. Not sure if it helped the Club's bottom line, but i'm assuming it did as it filled seats.
