Barefax boarded up with plywood
hopeful replied to hopeful's topic in Ottawa Discussion - Stripclubs & Dancers
just came back from Bar 77 in Gatineau, there's no plexiglass separating dancers from customers, dancers dance in open air unlike in Vancouver where they dance inside glass bubbles, the back area is closed off and the seats at the stage are removed, but the girls sit with the customers and do table dances, other than that it was kinda like normal, one would hope Barefax can be like this soon -
Barefax boarded up with plywood

that is correct and do you see protests going on in the Byward Market ? The 27 Club has an outdoor patio now in front of Barefax and the plywood sheets now serve as signage, interesting approach, actually looks nice and well thought out, as long as the weather holds up it should work, I like the fact they are making an effort to reconnect with their customers. Strip clubs in Quebec may open today if they wish, Bar 77 in Gatineau already open under conditions, Bar Champion in Laval opens tonight at 50 % capacity -
Barefax boarded up with plywood

the building likely now has new owners who don't like strip clubs, also remember the lawsuit being threatened by the patron who was assaulted by the bouncer, so the new owners don't want to have to deal with that lawsuit, anyways the plywood has nothing to do with protests and looting, since when do you see protests going on in the Byward Market ? -

and I'll be polite also, The 27 Club downstairs is reopening, Barefax is not, a few days ago I spoke with someone installing additional plywood panels over the windows, yes indeed there are other businesses boarded up in the Market and they're not coming back either, once you default on your Lease payments, it's game over, I would expect a Bailiff to post a Notice of Seizure on the door -
Bar 77 in Gatineau reopens their Stage Monday ! according to their instagram
-
they had to change their name to Bar 77, new licensing regulations
-
Barefax is boarded up with plywood as is the 27 Club next door, read into it what you may but the boarding up is never an encouraging sign

Barefax may not reopen, the building is for sale

so I'm confused are Massage able to Open or not ? a Bodyrub in Winnipeg was fined $ 2500 for opening too early
-
You're saying the spa would submit my phone number to Contact Tracers ? That's an invason of my privacy. so Ottawa spas can't open at Stage 2 yet Vancouver spas opened at Stage 2 and Montreal spas open Monday. so why can Montreal spas open Monday when that city has a higher infection rate than Ottawa ?

CMJ opens Friday ! Brass Club opens Monday !

and now the church is closed due to a virus, what a sad joke
-
they don't change the towel you lay on ? Procedures are definitely going to change now, are they in the same license category (Bodyrub) as EB and Diamonds / Nevadas ?
-
they wouldn't close just because a worker was fined, they opened too early I assume ?
-
that is so irresponsible
-
you can't be serious, you mean Diamonds was open during April ? cause you know what might happen now, now that the Government knows these spas thumbed their noses up at the laws, they'll make sure they don't open till the end of the very last Phase like maybe September or later.

hope this clarifies things as it does for me somewhat, according to City of Winnipeg, a Bodyrub is not considered a Therapeutic treatment, so that category is not named to be allowed to open yet. from: https://winnipeg.ca/cms/BLES/LS/business_licenses/body_rub_practitioner.stm A body rub practitioner is an individual who provides or offers to provide: Body Rubs for a fee The definition of a body rub practitioner does not include: A medical or therapeutic professional who provides massages as part of medical or therapeutic treatment and who is currently registered or otherwise entitled to practice under the laws of the Province of Manitoba A massage therapist An individual who carries on a business or occupation that is limited exclusively to massaging of the feet, hands, head or face A Provincially certified esthetician who administers massages as part of a skin care treatment, where the massage is for the purposes of product application and is a minor or incidental and secondary part of the treatment a Body Rub Parlour: https://winnipeg.ca/cms/BLES/LS/business_licenses/body_rub_parlour.stm License Fees: https://winnipeg.ca/cms/BLES/LS/business_licenses/licence_fees.stm Effective January 1, 2020 One-time Bicycle Registration $6.88 (GST included) Bicycle Dealer $481.00 Body Rub Parlour $4,970.00 Body Rub Practitioner $364.00 Converted Residential Dwelling $635.00 Converted Residential Dwelling with Shared Facilities $790.00 Escort $364.00 Escort Agency $4,970.00 Flea Market $605.00 Hostel $548.00 Independent Escort Agency $2,480.00 Precious Metals Dealer $950.00 Shared Facilities Dwelling $538.00 Temporary Trade Show $630.00 Used Goods Dealer $1,350.00 Used Material Yard $758.00 so a Bodyrub Parlour or Escort Agency is looking at almost $ 5000 for a Business license per year so a $ 2500 fine hit is like the license fee for 6 months !

My understanding of the difference between Bodyrub and Holistic is that bodyrub doesn't necessarily infer or suggest a therapeutic type massage or a requirement that the masseuses be licensed or certified in massage. However if I went into EB and asked for a therapeutic massage experience I'm sure the girl would provide it. I believe EB should contest this fine in Court. They provide a massage service. In some cities like Vancouver and Toronto a Bodyrub license can cost A LOT more than a holistic license, in Toronto a bodyrub license costs over $ 10,000 per year. Does anyone know how much a bodyrub license in Winnipeg costs? So was EB warned to shut down and then they refused and then the fine ? https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/special/coronavirus/salon-body-rub-parlour-face-fines-for-violating-covid-19-restrictions-570367522.html
