"Moral" rights are also protected under Canadian copyright law. Did I infringe on the copyright of this author? I copied it and pasted it here. However, did I distort, mutilate or modify it? No, I copied and pasted and gave the credit of where it came from. So, I would not be guilty of copyright or moral right of this piece. However, if I tried to say these were my own words, or, say that they said something different, then I would be infringing on their rights, and this would be actionable in court. So, the very nature that I copied this and re-posted it here is not an infringement of their rights. Its only when I start saying something else, that's when it gets into the courts. I agree that once you post a picture on the web, it becomes a public domain. Unless you have your pictures set to private (in which case no one except those you allow would be able to see it), you don't have any recourse - except only if someone posts your picture and say's this is their likeness or being malicious or distorted, that you have recourse in court.

My understanding is there is a difference between copying something - or using that copy without my permission to "post, forward etc." I wouldn't have a problem with someone copying my picture for their own personal enjoyment as I have already posted my picture online. However, if you copy my picture, and then use it to pretend it is your likeness, that is never cool. Or, if you take a picture of me without my permission and then post it somewhere. I'm sorry to hear that there are those using your pictures trying to pretend it is them. That is never ok and I truly wish there was more we could do the stop this. For both providers and hobbyists this needs to stop.

Loneskater, I agree with what you are saying. I think however, it is important to each donate to a charity you feel comfortable supporting. Instead of waiting for someone to say "hey, drop off your toys at xxx place", do it and donate where you live. This way, the children get their donations, and in the end, it has nothing to do with "where" it comes from.

Not cool at all. I am sorry to hear this. Some just don't seem to understand the idea of discretion. This is a total LACK of it, and the result you experienced is why no one should ever send out a text or phone call without invitation first. I choose to offer all inclusive pricing. I have very few restrictions, and they are not available, no matter how much money someone wants to pay for this. I hate the hustle of trying to get more money, and want the money out of the way, so we can both enjoy our time together. I run into those that will say mid way through - Oh, I'll give you extra $ for this. That is under my restriction, so no amount of money will work. Communication is always important. It works both ways.

I know providers sometimes do this with other providers. However, it takes trust to do this. After all, whose name is on the lease? She is the one who is most at risk if someone decides to do something stupid or dangerous. I would have an issue providing my incall location to a hobbyist. Could I trust him? Who is he going to bring in? Is he going to steal from me? Is he going to set up secret video cameras while I'm not looking? I would just look at getting a hotel, if you only need it for an hour or two a month.

Going to pick up a teenager from high school on her first day. Didn't know where to go, but went into the front driveway, where I had dropped her off. There were all these school buses there, and couldn't understand why everyone was honking at me. Then realized, they had their flashers on, and I wasn't supposed to be in that lane while the school buses were there. Got the meet the Vice-Principle - he he. He was very good about it, and explained where I was SUPPOSED to go. Won't make that mistake again. I've felt foolish before, but this was worse, as no teenager wants to have this happen to her on her first day of a new school.
