I dont disagree with you that it isnt working the way it is supposed to currently. Youre missing my point though. I was simply saying why it was created.
DEI evolved from civil rights movements in the 60’s during segregation times. People were historically not hired for roles they were qualified for based on skin color or other factors. The entire purpose of it was to increase diversity amongst a group of QUALIFIED individuals. It wasn't supposed to be box checking etc. It was supposed to be initiatives that simply increased the number of applicants of different races genders etc.
The idea that during times where racial divide was very very very open, business owners wouldn't hire white people solely because of race, regardless of ability, is ignorant.
