I do not agree with Licensing our profession, as its just a cash grab for the City. Looking for suggestions on how we get rid of the bad apples who * steal from clients * work when they are carrying disease * stealing clients from agencies and take them privately * Bad mouth competitors. * Work under the influence I have been in business for years and left for a while and Im back again. I truly believe that to get ahead in this business, you truly do not need to bad mouth, steal clientele. There are plenty of customers for everyone. CMJ 14869 Report post Posted May 4, 2015 I think the best way to get "rid of bad apples" is to just focus on your own business and promoting the visions you want in the industry - be the change you want to see in the world.... wasting time and energy on others is pointless - "the bad seeds" as you call them.... they always self destruct anyways. AND, thanks to Cowboy Kenney, many bad apples are weeded out on those other sites. We're very lucky to have him here. It's just best to be as good as you can be and let those who are in this for no good self destruct or move on to other professions. No one can police this industry, it would be impossible. They'll always be ones who steal clients, money and even reputations and many of them get away with it. Some people in this business are great actors and have no conscience. Curious to know what others think can take out the bad apples. This is always a losing battle. In every business bad companies and/or people will always exist. While it is frustrating, there is nothing you can do. People will do some pretty low down and dirty things to get ahead but it won't be for long term. These people will be exposed as those who aren't good to do business with and the more they scheme, the more they think they can get away with it. Their arrogance towards what they think they are getting away with will ALWAYS trip them up eventually but one day they will meet their match. I won't get into the specifics of what some people do to get clients ( i.e undercutting) as that has been a sore subject for me in the past and have had to let it go. Like yourself, I am experienced in this business and have seen the changes before my very own eyes. However, like I said people who are unsavory do not stick around long term in the business or any business for that matter. The fly by nights will always only have short term gain and have to keep moving. The ones who win are those business people who focus on themselves and what they have to offer to their clientele. It is inevitable by doing so will garner them a favorable reputation. In the long run this will work in your favor and on your terms that your clients will respect. There may be clients who go and see these type of business people and lose money in the short term because they are thinking they will be getting a good deal or the situation looks appealing but there is always a caveat with the crowd you mentioned and that is the examples you listed above. Focus on yourself and who you want to attract. By maintaining the positives in your business, there will be no choice but to give back what you have projected to your clientele. To me its in the chemistry and personality combined. I do have a price limit though. I have not found some one equitable in chemistry and personality yet. Hope too soon. It certainly seems to me, although I am completely inexperienced here, that this is like most things in life in that if you do focus on yourself and making what you do as good as you possibly can then the 'bad seeds' are water off your back and nothing to mind. A good community like this definitely seems to go a long way as well, it seems people here are willing to help each other out and guide the newbies into an enjoyable experience and avoid scammers and 'bad seeds' which will keep the hard workers and good seeds at the top and the community whole. The 'bad seeds' will always be out there, in all parts of life and sometimes they help put just how good the good ones are in perspective and allow you to truely appreciate what you already have around you. This is one of the few businesses where clients do the marketing for you. That’s the beauty of these boards. Ppl like that get exposed for what they are. In my experience, the gents I know don’t like cattiness or cruelty. It turns them off. In terms of the other things u mentioned, they get reported. And sure they can try to reinvent themselves over n over but the gents are always there to expose their former identity and the misdeeds behind them. So I wouldn’t waste energy worrying about it. Maybe society at large rats us all with the same brush, just as they do the clientele and while that’s unfair it doesn’t truly effect us cuz we operate discretely anyhow. Just concentrate on your biz, on being a positive member of the community, find solidarity with like minded colleagues and let those who choose to live in negativity reap what they sow & hope they grow one day. Guys aren’t stupid, they remember high school and they know what ‘mean girls’ are like. They see through it. For years I just kept my head sown &did my own thing bcuz I was worried about precisely the things u described. Problem was I hadn’t no duo partners. But just as the gents check out a girls rep among others as well as her own behaviour on the boards or in social media, I learned who I did and didn’t want to be associated with &who to be around. In every business u have that 1 group u now, the few who screw it up for the many. It’s just an unfortunate part of it. My beloved late gramma had a saying “If you don’t want to deal with the smell of shit, stay away from it And day you don’t want to smell like shit ourself, stay away from it. It’s great advice I find. I hope my contribution here helps. Concentrate on you, contribute the good you can and remember that the rest isn’t you, it’s them. Of course but they expose who they are by being kakafaces online. Twitter esp is a great tool. Girls forget to censor themselves on there and u see their true colours. I find with twitter the defamation crap is much more in plain view than it used to be when before it was mainly whispers during sessions, u know? Ok I’ll leave u alone now.
