spud271 47779 Report post Posted July 27, 2010 So I was on the phone this morning with my son back in England, when I responded to Erin's thread about favorite cover songs. I casually mentioned it to him that The Killers version Shadowplay by Joy Division was my favorite and he just threw out the question...ok Dad, give me your favorite songs of the last decade! He put me on the spot like he always does. I know his favorite book is High Fidelity, but that was a tough list to come up with! The first seven were no problem, but had a tough time making the final cut for the last three. So here they are in no particular order. Silversun Pickups - Well Thought Out Twinkles Silversun Pickups -Panic Switch Kasabian - Club Foot Mobile - Out of My Head The New Pornographers - Mass Romantic The Duke Spirit - Love Is An Unfamilliar Name http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21IP0MF4XPE&feature=fvw Keane - Is It Any Wonder The Bravery - Believe Elbow - Grounds For Divorce The Dears - Lost In The Plot That's what I got. Love them or hate them, those are my favorites from the last 10 years. He'd better not ask for my all-time 10 or it'll take forever to come up with! Cleo Catra 178382 Report post Posted July 29, 2010 I've tried and tried to think of songs from the last decade, it's HARD! Most of my favorite music comes from about the 70s to early 90s, even as early as the 50s. I'm stuck! But a few did pop into my head, this is what I came up with. I can't sleep so don't judge me right now :P She is Beautiful - Andrew W.K. Safe in New York City - AC/DC Drenched in Blood - Turbonegro Falling Slowly - Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova Don't Do Sadness/Blue Wind - Spring Awakening Original Cast Recording (I'm giving away my HUGE love of Broadway musicals with this one) Blinded by the Lights - The Streets Blue Orchid - The White Stripes Not About Love - Fiona Apple Telephone - Lady Gaga (don't hate me, I can't help myself!) Breathe Me - Sia
40ishsxaddict 203 Report post Posted July 29, 2010 i'm with Cleo...too much weak crap in the last decade.... However70's -90's stuff was good... LOVE PearlJam, Vedder' always got deep lyrics, that have multiple meanings, but hit home... Just Breathe, Amongst the Wave, from them recently hit home...(better on CD than live on youtube)..In Hiding, Elderly WomanBehind The Counter In A Small Town..They're amazing live 3 hours+.... Also like the tortured tunes of Alice in Chains (Check My Brain) recently...
