LuxeMulvari 65764 Report post Posted August 11, 2010 I was just updating my FB status and sometimes I like to put a quote or movie line to reflect how I am feeling that day or just because i like it so..... I decided to share with all you Cerbies and hopefully you'll share some of yours..... My favourite quote of all time form Alice in Wonderland.... "But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked. "Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad." "How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice. "You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here." To rejoice in another's prosperity, is to give content to your own lot: to mitigate another's grief, is to alleviate or dispel your own. VedaSloan 119179 Report post Posted August 11, 2010 Wayne Campbell: Tell me, when the first show is over, will you still love me when I'm an incredibly humongoid giant star? Cassandra: Yeah. Wayne: Will you still love me when I'm in my hanging-out-with-Ravi-Shankar phase? Cassandra: Yeah. Wayne: Will you still love me when I'm in my carbohydrate, sequined-jumpsuit, young-girls-in-white-cotton-panties, waking-up-in-a-pool-of-your-own-vomit, bloated-purple-dead-on-a-toilet phase? Kyra.Graves 23779 Report post Posted August 11, 2010 For Kyra, a favorite phrase: A saturnalia of spinners LOL! Okay but I still don't think you just slipped it in the conversation, not bad though and pic worthy. Here's a few of my favorite quotes: The only way to comprehend what mathematicians mean by Infinity is to contemplate the extent of human stupidity. -Voltaire I prefer to be a dreamer among the humblest, with visions to be realized, than lord among those without dreams and desires. -Kahlil Gibran The question to ask should not be: Do we have something in common - reason, self-consciousness, a soul - with other animals? (With the corollary that, if we do not, then we are entitled to treat them as we like, imprisoning them, killing them, dishonoring there corpses). I return to the death camps, the horror that convinces us that what went on there was a crime against humanity, is not that despite a humanity shared with their victims, the killers treated them like lice. That is too abstract. The horror is that the killers refused to see themselves in the place of their victims, as did everyone else. They said 'It is they in those cattle-cars rattling past.' They did not say, 'How would it be if it were I in that cattle-car?' They did not say, 'It is I who am in that cattle-car,' They said, "It must be the dead who are being burnt today, making the air stink and falling ash on my cabbages.' They did not say, 'How would it be if I were burning?' They did not say, 'I am burning, I am falling in ash.' In other words, they closed their hearts. -J.M. Guest C****** K***e Report post Posted August 12, 2010 I have a couple from A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce, which is one of my favorite books of all time. "The object of the artist is the creation of the beautiful. What the beautiful is is another question." "And I am not afraid to make a mistake, even a great mistake, a lifelong mistake, and perhaps as long as eternity too." And there's one from Joseph Goebbels (what a guy to quote, eh?) that has always just struck me as so incredibly moving, even if I don't always agree with it. I have agreed with it at some points in my life, and I think there's a lesson to be learned from it if you don't take it literally: "We shall reach our goal when we have the courage to laugh as we destroy, as we smash, whatever was sacred to us as tradition, as education, as friendship, and as human affection." And a couple to lighten up the mood a bit: "I must have a prodigious quantity of mind; it takes as much as a week sometimes to make it up." -Mark Twain "Choke to death on Kotex." -Mordecai Richler
HarveySpecter 1908 Report post Posted August 12, 2010 I'm not one to remember quotes but i watched a movie "Remember me" and a qote by Ghandi has just stuck with me. "Whatever you do in life will be insignificant but it is very important that you do it because? You can?t ever really know the meaning of your life? And you don?t need to? Just know that your life has a meaning? Every life has a meaning? whether it lasts one hundred years or one hundred seconds? Every life? And every death changes the world in its own way?" Mister T 45020 Report post Posted August 13, 2010 Some of the quotes i like come from various books or movies i've read or seen. HEre are a couple i come back to often: Remember, no matter where you go, there you are. (Buckaroo banzai and the 8th dimension) Exterminate all rationale thoughts. That is the conclusion i come to (Bill Lee, in The naked lunch, in a discussion on writing, based on the book of the same name) A few from Tom Waits, american writer and singer: "Fast, Cheap and Good… Pick two. If it’s fast and cheap, it wont be good. If it’s cheap and good, it wont be fast. If it’s fast and good, it wont be cheap. Fast, cheap and good… pick (2) words to live by." "If you get far enough away you'll be on your way back home." Ad there are thoughtful ones too...
Guest ***s Report post Posted August 13, 2010 ... well I remember! My mother seems to be my source for a lot of my favorite quotes .... Here are a few examples .. "Tess! it is impolite to start eating before everyone has been served unless your host advises everyone to do so!" "Tess please don't interrupt someone who is speaking, wait your turn!" or one I heard often "Tess please don't ask my date if he loves me or if he wants to marry me" And here's how one of my favorite quotes developed ... Mom once once told me (and I will never forget) ... "My little one, should should always tell the truth you, that way you'll never have to worry about telling a lie" (then I answered "No mom I SWEAR it WAS <brother> who took 5$ from your purse - I saw him do it! I swear ... ) ..... which leads me to one of my favorite quote... When you s t r e t c h the truth, watch out for the snapback. .Bill Copeland ... but I remember Mom's quotes better

Amanda Bella 421 Report post Posted November 30, 2010 I adore Tom Waits he is the true artiste, dark and vulnerable heartbroken and his lyrics often makes me cry. True art is tha which has more power to make me weep then my will to go on. More Tom Waits! 'There's a world going on underground" "There ain't no devil, there's just god when he's drunk" "Wake me up in my dreams." "And I hope that I don't fall in love with you" "Pour me a cab, I just can't drink no more." Romeo is bleeding, but not so as you'd notice" My favority CD. A true Tom Waits fan, Amanda? roamingguy 300292 Report post Posted November 30, 2010 Well Brad Paisley summed it up in his song "I'm Going to Miss Her" Well I love her But I love to fish I spend all day out on this lake And hell is all I catch Today she met me at the door Said I would have to choose If I hit that fishin' hole today She'd be packin' all her things And she'd be gone by noon Well I'm gonna miss her When I get home But right now I'm on this lakeshore And I'm sittin' in the sun I'm sure it'll hit me When I walk through that door tonight That I'm gonna miss her Oh, lookie there, I've got a bite Now there's a chance that if I hurry I could beg her to stay But that water's right And the weather's perfect No tellin' what I might catch today Well I'm gonna miss her When I get home But right now I'm on this lakeshore And I'm sittin' in the sun I'm sure it'll hit me When I walk through that door tonight That I'm gonna miss her Oh, lookie there, I've got a bite Yeah, I'm gonna miss her Oh, lookie there, I've got a bite RG:D
