Bobolakj43 140 Report post Posted August 5, 2015 Looking for advice on what is the best practice to be sure the SP you may be booking with is of age. I respect the desire of any SP to maintain anonymity, so is an edited pic of an ID leaving picture and DOB visible a crazy request? or is there an alternate method that I'm overlooking? Midnite-Energies 110563 Report post Posted August 6, 2015 A copy of an id with all personal information blotted out has been asked of by hobbyists before. Anyone not willing to prove it if there is doubt would be a reg flag in my estimation. If they are on a site like this, I believe MOD has requested ID behind the scenes to ensure members are safe and that there are no underage ladies advertising. I would say be up front, be polite and respectful when asking and if anything feels off, think of your safety first.
Ice4fun 78407 Report post Posted August 6, 2015 Might just be me but If I was shown a picture of an ID with personal info (name address etc) blotted out so that I could only see picture and age I would still be concerned that the DOB could have been altered in the picture... Let's face it with all the digital photography software out there it would not be hard to do this. For me personally if I had any concern that the lady in question might not be of legal age to be involved in this type of activity I think I would just stay clear of the situation all together. Just my Opinion
Emma Alexandra 123368 Report post Posted August 6, 2015 Just my thought but if you have to question her age as being to young then you shouldn't be seeing her.
StarBright 1406 Report post Posted August 6, 2015 I'd never take a picture of my ID to send to a client because it shows my face, in person I have no problem showing ID as long as I can cover my name and address
Phaedrus 209521 Report post Posted August 6, 2015 Just my thought but if you have to question her age as being to young then you shouldn't be seeing her. Some people's tastes run to younger ladies, and I see nothing inherently wrong with that, any more than there would be a problem with picking someone based on her height, or body type, or whatever else. I'd have thought that for those people, making an effort to ensure everyone they see is a consenting adult would be a sensible and responsible thing to do, and how best to go about this is an entirely legitimate topic of conversation.

I don't think anyone is debating that ... just suggesting when there is a question of legal age it is better to error on the side of caution and not take the risk. Seeking to find a way to establish the age is of course fine but can also be difficult if the need for discretion is high.

That's cool if they want to see younger chicks..I don't have a problem with that. All i'm saying is when in doubt..better to be safe then sorry..that's all.
Luckyme 41401 Report post Posted August 7, 2015 ... in person I have no problem showing ID as long as I can cover my name and address A former cerb friend told me that was what he did when the lady he booked showed up and she looked younger than the advertised age. He asked her to show him her photo ID revealing only her face and DOB with other particulars covered. I thought that was a great move on his part. Better safe than sorry.
StarBright 1406 Report post Posted August 7, 2015 I ID clients if they look under age, if they don't want to prove their age to bad, so get out. Why risk it! I look young myself and hopefully still will for many years to come :)
Bobolakj43 140 Report post Posted August 7, 2015 Thanks all for the discussion. Seems like a covered up id in person is the best approach as i can also appreciate the desire to not send out face pics. In the instance i was originally talking about the ad had plenty of face pics for all to see. Otherwise an id pic would serve as a poor pre appointment verification. My tastes do lean towards younger ladies but i do want to ensure that they are ladies not girls. Can't help but feel i would not be alone in these tastes. I hope that anyone seeking services takes the same precautions and i would hope that the SPs are understanding of these requests. Being dubbed a sex offender is something no one wants! Thanks guys n gals
cyclo 30131 Report post Posted August 9, 2015 (edited) Thanks all for the discussion. I hope that anyone seeking services takes the same precautions and i would hope that the SPs are understanding of these requests. Being dubbed a sex offender is something no one wants! Thanks guys n gals In the case of underage prostitution, the onus is always on the adult, not the youth or child. What does this mean in practical terms? First, communicating with a minor who is an escort is always a criminal offence. Second, saying that you believed she was 18 or older because she provided you with ID or because of the way she looked is not a defence to the charge. The idea that checking ID is sufficient verification of age is a myth, just like it's a myth that police officers can't sexually touch during an investigation. We all know that it's possible to get fake ID, therefore while checking ID might be a good starting point, a client's legal and ethical responsibilities don't end there. As Ice4fun and Emma Alexander suggested "when there is a question of legal age it is better to error on the side of caution and not take the risk" and "when in doubt..better to be safe then sorry.." This is very good advice, in fact the best advice you're going to get. If you like younger women, there will be circumstances where you'll never be sure how old the escort is regardless of what the ID says. Another thing to keep in mind is that the older you are, the harder it is for you to determine whether you're talking to someone who's 16, 17, 18 or 19 for example. The sentence for a first offence for communicating or using the services of an underage person is 6 months. It's a year for each additional offence to a maximum of 10 years. As you pointed out you're also added to the sex offender registry for life. Bobolakj I can see that you want to do the right thing but I want you and anyone else reading this to understand that checking ID is not sufficient. You need to use all of your intelligence and intuition to make your decision. You can't put that back on the child or youth who showed you a fake ID. You don't want a teenager making life altering decisions for you and then turn around and blame them for tricking you. In fact, you want to do everything possible to protect them, even if that's protecting them from themselves. Bobolakj43 140 Report post Posted August 9, 2015 Ok, certainly some heavy food for thought from cyclo. Much appreciated information, which for me leads to more questions. As cyclo pointed out, which i certainly agree with, the older you get the more difficult it is to accurately determine age. I mean even the liquor store is taking the ''if you look under 30'' approach. So what's a fella to do: accept the inherent risk despite the heavy consequences? Gravitate towards older SPs despite what your tastes are? Certainly the latter is the more conservative approach, but how old is safe? What about the liquor store approach, that'd shorten the list to say the least. Little much, sure, but i would think the line of caution certainly extends into the early twenties. With the former, the risk can be mitigated but certainly not eliminated. Especially with the fact that messaging alone can be an offense and discretion being a considerable hurdle. So with all that being said, i find myself looking to the community and wondering what can be done. A website that required thorough verification prior to posting an ad would be awesome. I'm pretty sure BP and CL have no such verification, nor would any such check become the norm unless clients collectively ignore SPs that look too young. Thus forcing the burden of proof onto the SPs, but I'm guessing that's highly unlikely. So i guess the question stays open for discussion, other than ID, how else can a person verify age? Or more importantly how can minors be protected against not only others but themselves?
fortunateone 156618 Report post Posted August 10, 2015 I used to suggest clients look to ads that have age posted at 19 or 20, at minimum, to get the youth without running as high a risk as I was sure that any sp under 18, or as young as 15 or 16 was going to be using the age 18 in their ads. Then i have seen/heard of two examples, one 15 years old posting at 19, the other was 16-17, & her ads had her progressively showing younger ages as she crept up towards the legal age. She was posting at 20 & 21, when she was 16-17. however, she was also part of a gang/scam where they hid in the room, jump out and rob the client, or kick him out after payment, so not too sure legally what more someone could be charged with there. Now these are two example of willing underagers. there are also blackmailed underagers, coerced underagers, held against their will underagers. If you ever go to see someone who you think is underage, willing or not, report them to LE. let LE figure out if they are of age or not, willing or not.
