A new group, feel free to join

Recommended Posts

So I just created my first group. See? Today I read a post from our Dear Masterowls sharing how difficult some circumstances he goes through can be.

He gave me his consent to mention him and his post but I know there is other members here through his same or similar situation.

So this group is with the only purpose to give them advice and probably for the ones that have the time and willing to, well give ideas, contribution and probably offer a way to help?

I will be posting as I'm sure they will be too sharing their particular needs. Hope to have many of you joining us. http://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/group.php?groupid=44

Thank you all in advance!

I remember a call I had to do at the bike path, with my driver, because the gentleman was having a chair that was far to big for the hotel escalator... They would'nt event rent him a room!

It was quite an experience, thought!

J'espere que tu te joindras a ce groupe et que tu te reconnaitra, car dira bien ce qu'on voudra, cette experience unique a eu son cote d'aventures...

Excellant idea, just joined

There are alot of people who have challenges visable and some not so visable. I'm in the latter group (and more now statistically challenged than really challenged), and to people who see me, wouldn't even know I have a challenge. But together, we can all offer advice, solutions and offer to help.

Good idea Isabella

Great idea Isabella. Not only can members identify themselves as people with special needs, but the providers who join identify themselves as SP's who have no problem seeing differently abled clientele.

Additional Comments:

This is a great resource for SP's who see disabled clients!

I consider myself to have special needs (seriously), so I'm sure it will of benefit to both SPs and hobbyiests alike.

I think it's a great idea and I too, joined.

Our little group seems to be growing exponentially. When Isabella suggested the group, I thought maybe 10 or so people were likely to join. It just goes to show how correct I was that CERB is like 1 giant family. I hope new people will continue joining. The more resources we have in terms of creative brainpower, the more good we can do.

I agree with you my friend but we need to keep adding new "brothers and sisters" to our family. So please sign up and welcome aboard!

I wanted to share a story about why differently abled clients hold a special place in my heart (I know it sounds cheesy but it's true).

When I was 15 or 16, I held the default opinion that prostitution was immoral. Women were immoral for engaging in it and men were sick for using women for their sick pleasure.

One day, I was reading "Dear Abby". A man wrote in and this was his story summarized:

Dear Abby,

I'm a man in my 30s with a disability that has me confined to a wheelchair. I have never had sex or experienced intimacy with a woman. My best friend hired an escort for me and I had sex for the first time. My parents who are very religious found out and they are threatening to kick me out of the house. Due to my disability, I'm dependent on them. Please advise.

It was that moment that I thought "Hey, maybe prostitution isn't so bad after all."

I'm so thankful for that letter because it got me thinking critically about sex work for the first time.

Obviously my opinion has changed dramatically in the last 10 years.

It amazes me how society views certain careers and other lines of work as either acceptable or not acceptable. Some careers, in the views or certain people, are "bad" or immoral as Megan states and others are "good." WHY?? Who determines, or better yet, who allows others to determine the answer to this question? Who decides that a career in retail is less respectable than a career at a bank? When did a career as a plumber become frowned upon? Why are professional athletes, for the most part, respected and people who pick up our household trash on a weekly basis looked down upon? Why are escorts deemed immoral and CEO's of major corporations trusted? The last time I checked there were no ponzi schemes involving escorts in the news. How many problems did Enron, Worldcom, Berni Madoff and Lehman Brothers create for the economy and the world?

I believe this was a rhetorical question, but I'd like to take a stab at answering it anyways!

I believe it ultimately comes down to sexism. A "good" woman in a sexist view is one who is controlled (particularly sexually) by a man. She is chaste until marriage when her father "gives" her to her husband, and she is faithful to him.

Sex workers are in control of their sexuality and often very powerful women. This is scary to a society that wants women, and women's sexuality, kept under control.

I can say with absolute certainly that many men in the "dating" world are intimidated by me. They are intimidated by my fierce independence, overt sexuality, and that I make more money than they do. I could give this up and be a chaste woman who stays at home to make babies and be supported financially by her husband.... but I like being a sex worker better :)

I too believe that the topic in question was rhetorical...guess I should have clarified. I only wanted to make a semi-related comment to the topic at hand.

Like most boys, I discovered sexual desire in my early teens. I think I was probably about 14 when I realized I really wanted sex for the first time. Unfortunately at the time I also realized that teenage girls can be extremely cruel creatures in fact in high school it used to be a game among my sisters friends, to see who could turn me on the most without actually doing anything to relieve the problem afterwards. My mother did her best to get me information on sex, but all that did was convince me I wanted it even more. Because of my disability masturbation is somewhat more difficult, and frankly it is more of a chore than a pleasure most of the time. I didn't even learn how until I was 17. I promised my mother I would not hire a prostitute until I was 21. By age 20 however I was absolutely crazy with physical need, so I went out and found a lady by the name of Jasmine, who had several regular clients in my apartment building, which ironically was entirely a disabled complex. She is the one who took my virginity. Since then, with the exception of two brief conventional relationships, almost all my physical experiences have been with various providers. I personally don't know if I'd still be sane without them. As I've said before, I think the ladies are very special people.

Well for an activity that is generally frowned upon by the public at large (or so it seems) and the public (or so it seems) looks down on both SP's/Hobbyiests alike, why is it then, from the posts in CERB (and setting up this group specifically, as an example) that there are alot of good people out here that show concern for one another

Why should this activity be stigmitized...what consenting adults do in privacy is their own business.

The answer to this question is actually fairly simple. The vast majority of the general public have never and unfortunately probably never will, actually bother to speak with a reputable service provider. They have no concept of how intelligent, kind, and caring most service providers actually are. If they did, prostitution would quickly become more socially accepted. I have yet to meet a lady here who fits what society generally thinks of as a prostitute/sex worker. There are all extremely sweet, intelligent, mostly well-educated women who just happen to keep men company for money. I personally don't see what the big deal is.
