Question about a different cl ad

Recommended Posts

Good morning Emma

1200 - 1500$ does not normally get you much in NYC!

Best option is to hire a real estate agent in NY, and have them check it out, location, etc.

Also, call the local NYC police department and ask them about the area, how safe, etc., normally they are very helpful.

good luck

Pretty sloppy looking website and the fact that they can't spell apartment is a bit of a red flag to me. Be careful as far as leaving a deposit goes, it does seem like an offer to good to be true 350 for a a one bedroom suite for a week is a great price, but rooms in that hotel go for 260 and up for a night.

It does seem a bit off...I have stayed in NYC many many times and this price would be amazing...thus my thinking it's just not right...here's a copy of their letter to me:

Thank you very much for your inquiry.

For your travel dates we could offer you the following options:

Our HOLIDAY APARTMENT is $490/week.

We are available throughout that time. The cost per night is $70.00 a night,

so for 11 days the total is $770.

This includes all utilities. There is a fully equipped kitchen. We

supply all linens, and there is parking space.

There is high speed wireless internet for your convenience. If you are

interested we take 40% and refundable $200 security deposit to confirm

your booking and the rest of the balance on your arrival.

Or you may pay in full at the time of the booking. The amount of 40%

would be $308 plus $200 security deposit making $508, we will secure

and reserve the apartment if you make this deposit .

We accept money transfer or bank transfer only.

Please let us know if you are interested and we can go from there.

You can view more pictures and information on our website at:

Thank you and have a great day.

Emma, try vrbo.com or frbo.ca these are sites where you deal directly with the property owner. I have friends and colleagues who've used the service with great success in as far away as Japan. This other place just seems sketchy and sloppy. Of course I'm a skeptic by nature...

I agree with CK, Emma darling. I've used vrbo.com for overseas bookings.....great experience.

As to the Reservation Palace Home, you could check with the Marriott in NYC and see if they've heard of them and/or if they're legit......it does seem way too good to be true though!

Enjoy Manhattan!

The fact they only take money/bank transfers is a red flag.

Also, they use the same pics of the apartments for different cities.

I'd bet money it's a scam.
