VedaSloan 119179 Report post Posted September 1, 2010 I know, I know, I JUST posted that other thread, but I just thought of this and thought it might be interesting to see what others suggest. I know a number of you are bilingual and trilingual, so I want to know: what are some of your favourite foreign-language songs? I ask because I'm studying Italian and I've been listening to a ridiculous amount of Italian hip-hop in order to get used to the accent and just hearing the language spoken. So here are a couple of my current favourite foreign language tracks: Jessica Fichot- 1, 2, 3 (French) Coeur de Pirate-Fondu au Noir (French) Fabri Fibra feat. Gianna Nannini- In Italia (Italian) Alemayehu Eshete- Yeweyn Haregitu (Ethiopian) (the studio verison is better, but I couldn't find it online) Fabienne Delsol-Laisse Tomber Les Filles (French)(cover; original by France Gall) (original) MC Solaar-La Belle et Le Bad Boy (French)
Old Dog 179138 Report post Posted September 1, 2010 Alizee - J'ai Pas Vingt Ans (French) ... she is perhaps one of the most BEAUTIFUL women in the world.... Sunidhi Chauhan - Aa Tayar Hoja (Hindi)... that is a clip from the Bollywood blockbuster "Asoka"... not Sunidhi, but a gorgeous lip sync nonetheless... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTJVPquO9ig Mary Jane Lamond - Bog A'Lochain (Scots Gaelic) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgttB42VLas Joshua Bell (Violin Virtuoso) and Josh Groban - The Theme from Cinema Paradiso (Italian)... one of the most haunting songs ever to grace the silver screen... Montreal's own Florence K - Las Calles Del Sur (Spanish) - it's a jazzy little tune that hearkens back to sixties lounge... LOVE it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiHmN9uVcyo Lucio Battisti - Non E Francesca (Italian) ... reminded me of an old flame named... umm... Francesca... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pBzTF9O7o4

NotchJohnson 214123 Report post Posted September 1, 2010 Marjo- Les chats sauvages (French and deep meaning song) Gerry Boulet-Les yeux du coeur http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6sJwTU-r-I Andrea Bocelli-Por ti Volare (I really like this song)
canuckhooker 19203 Report post Posted September 1, 2010 Hmm great idea for a thread. Since someone mentioned Marjo, I will say I loved some of her pre-Marjo phase when she was the lead singer of Corbeau. Marche and Demain are two great songs that are on my iPod, but unfortunately too old for YouTube vids. A bit more up-to-date but still older Laurence Jalbert- Corridors http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bh45JeO9fDs If we want to go to German then Peter Maffay- So Bist Du The video is a bit cheesy, from an 80s TV appearance but love the song-

Old Dog 179138 Report post Posted September 1, 2010 Ahhh back to high school...Gerry Boulet! Good choice meg' date=' I also forgot this song from my elementary school days.[/quote'] If Meg was in High School and T'Storm was in elementary school... I must have been... screw it... I am going to say pre-school, despite the fact that I probably married with kids at that time... Let's try this... Sergio Mendes & Brasil 66 - Mas Que Nada I just love the sound of '60's Bossa Nova....

I first heard her doing "La Isla Bonita"... and I swore it was better than the original... but you are right, the sexy lady dance action was ... ahem... inspirational. Sunidhi Chauhan is one of the Bollywood singers that has a more western sound. She can easily do the more nasal Hindi traditional singing but her voice transcends that genre....
