Guest *******naF***dy Report post Posted October 15, 2015 Their reply: We are currently experiencing technical difficulties with Paysafe cards and cannot accept payments at this time. There is no timetable for its return. We suggest posting with alternate payment methods such as Bitcoin. If you are in the United States, you can also pay by check or money order. Please make payable to "Posting Solutions." Please do not make your payment out to "backpage.com" as we will not be able to accept them. Include the email address used for your posting along with your payment. There is a minimum of $50.00 when sending a money order. Credits will be available as soon as payment is processed. We apologize for the inconvenience.
StefanieBell 240 Report post Posted October 16, 2015 I was going to start a thread on this as well, went out to buy a top-up card and now I can't add it. And it appears that buying Bitcoin in Canada is a lot more effort than it should be. Looks like my ads are going to be staying down at the bottom for a while until something changes. Talia Ciarra 3360 Report post Posted October 16, 2015 Does anyone know where you can purchase Bitcoin?
Helena D'Orville 33237 Report post Posted October 16, 2015 You purchase Bitcoins online. There are several websites for this. Backpage listed a few on their website under the option to pay for Bitcoins. Follow the links, read pages and watch videos that explain you how to do this. Now, although it can be purchased online, it is not as easy as it seems. Explaining you how it works here would be very long, plus the transactions on these websites are mostly made in US$, not in Canadian Dollars. To sum up: we, ladies in Canada, are not at the end of our issues with BP to pay for our ads. Good luck!

StefanieBell 240 Report post Posted October 16, 2015 It wouldn't be so bad if I could at least post without all my ads being bumped to the bottom in to the "other" section. Just so frustrating.
Guest *******naF***dy Report post Posted October 16, 2015 Yea bitcoins A) you need a wallet but you cant just load said wallet B) you have to find a reliable trader that will sell you bitcoins and they ways to do this are not easy at all. It's too long and complicated a process. Im seriously considering coding a new escort only backpage for canada but damn it's alot of work.
Meaghan McLeod 179664 Report post Posted October 16, 2015 If you were given a "credit limit" a couple of months ago, Use It. It shows up as "send me a bill" hopefully it buys you some time till they get it fixed. I bought the "bump everyday for x number of days" so I no longer have to do this everyday. Well worth it.
StefanieBell 240 Report post Posted October 16, 2015 Unfortunately that doesn't show for me. I would gladly use bitcoin, if there was a way to get some. I am wondering if Paysafe has pulled their service from backpage all together, that is my largest concern.
Helena D'Orville 33237 Report post Posted October 16, 2015 Hi ladies, the problem is solved and you can forget about bitcoins. I just talked with Pamela from BP (contact info below): we have to buy a money order in US$ at the post office, and we have to give to the post office the name of the business only to which we send the money order (not any other info) then we have to send the money order to the business ourselves (the name of the business is not BP, contact Pamela and she will give you all the information: business name to use, address etc...) Pamela encourages us to contact her directly, and she will send you a detailed email regarding what to do, and she might call you, just as she did with me, and might also offer you discounts! StefanieBell 240 Report post Posted October 16, 2015 That hardly sounds like a "solved problem" It sounds like a complete run around option that will take weeks for funds to get added to an account from start to finish. I have however learned that there is a bitcoin machine at durty nellys in Halifax that you can use cash to buy bitcoins in different amounts. I haven't been there yet to check it out, but hopefully will this weekend.

Just to note when I commented on your post that it was no longer available to use, I did not see "send me a bill" as an option when I tried to move it up earlier today. But I went back and checked and the option is back since I was given some credits back in June.
Talia Ciarra 3360 Report post Posted October 16, 2015 I read somewhere that you can use a Walmart or Target gift card and exchange is for Bitcoin. Is this only in the U.S or can we use it here?
StefanieBell 240 Report post Posted October 16, 2015 paxful.com allows you to pay with giftcards if the seller accepts them. But almost all of the sellers are American, so it appears that they would only accept US gift cards.
Helena D'Orville 33237 Report post Posted October 16, 2015 I spent several hours on Paxful last night and all transactions are made in US Dollars (some in Euros) but none in Canadian Dollars. So if you start thinking about it: odds are that the vendors will not accept your gift card in Canadian $. And let's say they do, you will lose more money because they will for sure sell you less bitcoins than they would for a US$ gift card. So between the currency value and what the vendors might be willing to offer you, you will lose a lot of money on this. Hence, the money order in US$ sent to BP as being the easiest solution at the moment... Or you can just bump your ad for free once everyday. But you cannot move your ad to the top every hour, you cannot sponsor your ad, you cannot auto-repost etc... Things to think about.
StefanieBell 240 Report post Posted October 17, 2015 I can't even bump my ads for free once a day. No matter when they were posted it is charging me $1 to move them to the top now. It used to do it once a day for free....but none of them allow me to now.

Ice4fun 78407 Report post Posted October 17, 2015 As if running a business in this industry was not hard enough... you would think the least of the issues would be paying for an online ad.
Nicolette Vaughn 294340 Report post Posted October 17, 2015 Bitcoin is a long drawn out and tedious process especially just for using Backpage. Paysafe as it was mentioned from a senior accounts manager from BP is not coming back because certain groups decided to inform them about human trafficking. So they decided to cancel Backpage's account. There is a way to pay for Bitcoin using cash called Instacoin and they are only available in Quebec. You go to a selected location with an Instacoin machine and pay with bills but you have to have a mobile wallet app or a paper wallet through Bitcoin. However I have not researched the Bitcoin process enough because I'm not interested in buying from a seller and having to find the appropriate gift card to exchange that isn't guaranteed. Here is a link to the Instacoin site with a list of Quebec locations. For ladies in Ottawa and Gatineau, there is a location or two in Gatineau. http://www.instacoinatm.com/index-en.html Something else that I found was this... it's sort of a facilitator for Backpage customers to place ads through Bitcoin specifically because of the issue with all the major credit card companies that occurred this past July. Of course there is a fee and you can decide if it's worth it or not. There is a minimum of $20 to purchase bitcoin for a Bp ad and they will deduct $2.50 + 15% from the amount that you decide to send them as part of their fees for using the service.. You will also have to have one of the mobile apps for Bitcoin wallet on your phone. There are several that are compatible with various smart phones. The processing time to use this service is 12-24 hours. Backpage recommends using this company so it is legitimate. http://satoshicounter.com/backpage/ This is what happens when classified adult advertising is tied in with a regular advertising site with different categories where people buy and sell.. It has become so mainstream that anyone and their mother can place adult ads while it has also garnered so much negative media attention.. This never happened when adult industry sites stayed strictly adult sites. It's b.s. and backpage is a dying breed. It's time for adult sites to go back to being adult sites! Hope this helps!
Talia Ciarra 3360 Report post Posted October 17, 2015 So, I downloaded the bitcoin app, everything looks like it was going smoothly when I get a lovely msg saying "Bitcoin is not enabled in Canada Yet". I don't think the is madness is ever going to end lol!
Helena D'Orville 33237 Report post Posted October 17, 2015 Then you have two solutions: - send a money order in US$ to BP (please contact them and they will give you the address to send it to. I don't want to write to many detail in the public section) - go on paxful.com and create an account for free to buy bitcoins. It will work, a friend of mine used it today to buy bitcoins and it worked. Read carefully their instructions, they also have a video explaining how to create an account etc... Good luck! Meaghan McLeod 179664 Report post Posted October 17, 2015 You can also pay by money order you purchase from Canada post. There is a minimum of $50USD. Make payable to Posting solutions (not backpage). Send to Posting Solutions Attn: Accounts P.O. Box 192307 2501 Oak Lawn Ave Dallas TX. 75219 Be sure to include your bp email address. You do not need to produce ID for money orders under $3000. Good luck
