Word censoring

Recommended Posts

Guest *Ste***cque**

The new government has asked his minister of justice to review all past conservative legal positions with an eye towards appropriate use of laws that will protect the vulnerable. He didn't mention C-36 specifically but it seems the climate has changed around aggressive enforcement of C-36.

With this more relaxed approach is it too early to consider removing the censoring of certain words? It's your business so it's your rules, Mod, but what are your thoughts?

The site and its users have already adapted to the censorship and I, for one, have no difficulty understanding what is or isn't being said. I think we should focus on having C-36 repealed and hopefully not replaced before we worry about the censorship issue. I don't see any tremendous benefit to changing back at this time and there is also the risk of unwanted attention obstructing the bigger goal.

I don't know if it's too early or too late to be talking about the censorship rules but what I do know is that the application of these rules and the concern for bill C36 has had an unintended dramatic impact on this site both in terms of reduced participation and interaction of members and the general lack of discussion topics here on the site.

We have seen many previously very active and engaged reputable members either just stop being involved or drastically revising their engagement because of the fear of breaching a rule and being suspended or banned so now they limit their interaction to posts in the escort or massage schedule threads and frankly we have lost a number of very reputable ladies to rule infractions that have resulted in them being suspended or banned.... in my opinion these unintended outcomes are a real concern for the site.

Let's face it people come to this site because of sex and frankly to use the forum for clients and workers in the sex industry to connect... the new reality is that discussion of sex can get you in trouble with the rules and that is impacting participation by members.

Just my Opinion

Talking about bill C-36 is one thing, but here's why it would be easier for us if we kept it...

Pros:

- Less disrespectful PMs;

- No j**k off in chat or PMs;

- Less WOT;

- Less ''creeps'' with weird and dangerous requests;

- And finally, it is WAY easier to screen clients. I can see who's more encline to respect my rules. You can't follow LYLA's rules, you probably won't be able to respect mine.

Cons:

- It makes communication a LITTLE harder. But not much.

Even if laws and rules change, I think I will keep censorship, as the level of language it engages is more adequate...

My two cents...
