bellafan 11341 Report post Posted December 14, 2015 In my 100th post, (Hi Passion Vitto:)) something I really want to say: In Stephen Harper's Canada, Cpl. Nathan Cirillo (poor, unfortunate victim that he was - but clearly not, by any stretch of the imagination, a national hero - a simple army reservist, a night club bouncer looking for a better job) was somehow so much more important to Stephen Harper than the lovely young aboriginal woman, Tina Fontaine, who was also murdered, and whose body (in a garbage bag) was thrown into the Red River in Winnipeg. Somehow, in Stephen Harper's Canada, Nathan Cirillo was automatically someone very important, supposedly a national hero, because he happened to be wearing a military uniform. And Tina Fontaine, who was probably wearing nothing at all, was nothing, and no one :( I am very, very happy that we are now regaining some perspective. Every Canadian is important! Civilians are as important as the military and the RCMP - probably more so. And, most importantly, women, aboriginal and non-aboriginal, are as important as all of us guys! She represents a daughter, a sister, a classmate, a fellow working lady and much much more .. she represented all of us NATIVE SISTERS as well .. and all us women PERIOD. we are the future of mankind, we are soft yet will fight to the end in something we value and believe in, we are kind, generous, loving, etc etc WE ARE PEOPLE .. In my family (I am not an aboriginal person) a lovely young woman, my cousin, was raped and stabbed and left to die and freeze to death in a prairie snowbank in January some years ago.
