I have had great experiences with younger ladies, who seem truly into me when we meet. I ussually let the lady know in advance that I'm carrying a few extra pounds, this way it makes me feel a bit more comfortable when we do meet. It has worked for me so far and for the most part has taken the edge off the insecurity that I sometimes have with the extra weight. As for the age gap, Being fairly new to the Hobby game, I have only met three or four ladies so far and most have been better than half my age. To date only a couple stand out for me! I haven't experienced a more mature (30+) SP as of yet but plan on it in the near future ;). I think in the end it is all about the connection that you both make.
