TGirl-Kay 7484 Report post Posted September 30, 2010 A poem my partner wrote, September 28th, 2010 This is for the streetwalkers the party girls and the hos it?s for those who works nights for my neighbours and my lovers it?s for the girls who work and the no-tell motels for the girls at the Bare Fax and the Shangri La it?s for everyone who?s sick of watching windows and waiting for the landlord to stop by to "check on things" it?s for anyone waiting for the phone to ring for the girls who want out and the girls who want to stay in and for anyone who was ever arrested for carrying condoms in the wrong part of town it?s for the strippers for the peelers and the peep show dancers it?s for the nude, erotic, and fetish models who can?t tell their parents that they take their clothes off for money it?s for the woman on my corner that night in august who didn?t want to be working but need diapers for her kid it?s for the escorts the pro-dommes the rent boys and the phone whores and for anyone who ever set up a webcam in their bedroom it?s for my girlfriend and my ex-girlfriend and it?s for me it?s for anyone who ever got into a stranger?s car while their friend wrote down the license number and made sure the passenger-side handles were still there it for anyone evicted on the strength of a neighbour?s stare and anyone who?s heard How much? hollered from a passing car it?s for every sweetheart every room-mate every child every spouse of anyone who ever hustled in a chat-room or a coffee-house on a corner or on a message board it?s for everyone whose rights have been ignored because they traded in skin it?s for Jennifer and Sadie and everyone else who never made it home again it?s for everyone buried on the highway of tears the girls who disappeared and who came back as bodies it?s for Hintonburg Lowertown Vanier Dalhousie and Bell Street Remember this date: September twenty-eight For anyone who has ever: Communicated for the purposes of prostitution Lived off the avails of prostitution Or Operated a common bawdy house and for anyone who has been treated as less than because they were or are or were thought to be a sex worker Today is the beginning of our freedom Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
