safetyfirstguy 370 Report post Posted April 25, 2016 Why is it I feel that every add on bp is sketchy? Is it me or should that be a stay away at all costs website. Discussion?
Grass_Hopper 18263 Report post Posted April 25, 2016 Although I do not wish to be associate in any ways with that website, I can give it what its worth. There's a lot of wonderful SPs advertising on there. Some dont even know of LYLA and E-C. Also, some SPs on here are using it as a complement to their marketing. But all the ''fakes and flakes'' (to cite CK) are burrying them under their crap. That's the exact definition of diamond in the rough. Do your homeworks properly (I can provide a list of well known and reliable tools), do not rely to much on mouth-to-ear or rumours (a hobbiest opinion can always be bias or shill), see if she has a reco. Then, ask for inputs to reliable members, if you still not sure. First and foremost, FOLLOW YOUR GUTS (not your d***). Stay safe, and have a nice day!..
milfhunter1967 2154 Report post Posted April 25, 2016 There are several Winnipeg ladies that advertise on BP that are well known and respected to make the assumption that all adds on it are sketchy is foolish. Like every other transaction caveat emptor!
ElissaMarie 4310 Report post Posted April 26, 2016 I wouldn't think every ad on that site is sketchy or every lady who advertises there unreliable, I am sure most of us providers and clients started there or on a similar site. Thinking every ad there is sketchy is painting everyone who advertises there with the same brush and also believe me when I tell you it goes the other way too. A lot of the inquiries received from that site aren't the most respectful ones which is why I currently don't use it but some of them came from great gentlemen who I continue to see, you just have to be selective and Google the lady's name and number to see what you find, you may have to put more time and effort than if you use boards, I realize Lyla has more traffic from Ontario but I'm sure there's a Manitoba similar forum, maybe others in the same region can help you with that :)
safetyfirstguy 370 Report post Posted April 27, 2016 I should re-state my earlier post. Not everyone beepee add is sketchy, I guess I feel as though ones on these types of sites are a little more professional perhaps? Does that make any sense?
Horndog66 14104 Report post Posted April 27, 2016 The overwhelming majority of ads on Winnipeg Backpage are indeed sketchy. However, that may not be the case in other Canadian cities. The rule of thumb that I follow is this: if Backpage is the only site where a lady advertises, be very wary. If she advertises on other sites such as this one, the other board, Escorts Canada, etc. IN ADDITION TO Backpage, she's probably OK. Whatever the case, do your research wherever you can find reliable information. Don't forget, this board severely restricts negative posts, whether legitimate or not, so many of the not-so-good experiences don't get reported here.
ElissaMarie 4310 Report post Posted April 27, 2016 It does! Also as we know, people behave accordingly to the environment they're in, exceptionally behaved people have acted badly in places with little or no rules, this forum has rules, back page doesn't or not as clear and firm as Lyla does. I should re-state my earlier post. Not everyone beepee add is sketchy, I guess I feel as though ones on these types of sites are a little more professional perhaps? Meaghan McLeod 179664 Report post Posted April 27, 2016 Rule of thumb Google her images/phone number Tineye the same Does she have a website? Are there any discussions of her anywhere? 24/7 is a red flag party friendly is a red flag Multiple numbers/names - dig deeper Openly offering illegal services - HUGE red flag - circumventing censors is never good Telling you she is available RIGHT NOW - really, she doesn't need to freshen up? One thing to say, she is available with little notice, but another thing to say, come over right away. Most legit providers require some notice, as they are not sitting in their lingerie. Very young - 18-21 is sometimes an issue - be cautious if that is your thing. Good luck! xo
broseph1 311 Report post Posted May 2, 2016 I'm thinking all providers pretty much have to advertise there to be seen. Sketchy ones and legit ones all in one place.

Very young - 18-21 is sometimes an issue - be cautious if that is your thing. Good luck! xo These points are pretty much what I think. But also add in trust your gut. But mind you I was pretty slept oval the first time I went to see Angie Martinez. I had seen so many quality pics only to be disappointed when went through the door. But I took a chance on her and saw her like 6 times. And I still dream about it. But mind you her add had none of the points above but my gut said too good to be true. Basically once and a while you have to take a chance. But if you walk in and you feel the adds were misleading just turn around and walk out. On occasion I felt disappointed and stayed sometimes it was ok but often I felt so misled I just got up and left in the middle without finishing. Lost my money and just felt bad about everything. So disappointed. But really the few occasions where a provider really comes through and is everything the add promises makes it so with while. You leave feeling so good and you feel good for days and days after. That's the experience I go for and it is hard to find. But it exists and I know because I have had it. And I could live anothe 100 years and lay on my death bed and be thankful that I had those few encounters. Ha that might seem a bit over the top but that's why I go on backpage. If one time out of 100 gives me that experience I will probably just keep searching for that. Jerez I wish Angie Martinez would come back to winnipeg
Exotic Touch Danielle 31731 Report post Posted May 6, 2016 Not all of the ads are sketchy on BP...but yes most definitely follow your gut feeling of course (I always do)..do some research on the lady you may have a feeling about...check to see if she has any recommendations, do Google eye to see if her photos are indeed her and if she is a member of a legit site (such as Lyla) read her profile maybe chat with a few guys that may have met her Good luck and be safe
Vas Deferens 120 Report post Posted June 22, 2016 Since Craigslist fell under law enforcement scrutiny in the US and elsewhere a couple of years ago and was publicly shamed for it, Backpage has largely taken over this niche and now draws as many or more escort ads than ever. My regular SP is new to the biz and wants to but can't advertise on Backpage due to some recurring technical problem with the site. She recognizes the potential reach Backpage has but must make do with two other much lesser known sites to advertise. All the advice I've read in this thread I whole-heartedly concur with and applaud. Tineye is my new friend and has saved me untold $$$, embarrassment and disappointments.
Vas Deferens 120 Report post Posted June 22, 2016 Face pics? It used to be a red flag for me when an SP posted good (or good enough) quality pictures showing their face. After all, law enforcement should always be a consideration. Having said this, I found my current (and favorite by far) SP through an ad where she posted her face multiple times. Much to my delight and relief, I discovered she is a legit SP. Before meeting her I did, however, verify her pics (face and otherwise) through Tineye and all came back with 0 results after checking multiple times over several days. Anyone turned off or extra cautious when it comes to face pics?
broseph1 311 Report post Posted June 25, 2016 I usually only contact ladies with face pictures. Not always but usually. In my humble opinion you can tell a lot more about a person from their face than their body... "hard millage" or drug use seems to show there first. And if you are looking for a lady of a particular ethnicity that's also the best way to know/guess that. Also the face is the most important aspect I think... studdies using eye tracking software have shown men pay most attention to the ladies' face when watching adult videos. I'm not sure what body part came in 2nd... it was probably a 4 way tie lol On a related subject, I used to be paranoid about the ladies with professional pictures but now I see it as a sign of success in the industry mostly. It's often easy to tell the difference between a professional photo shoot done for a provider and just some pictures taken off the Internet.
Guest st*****ens**ors Report post Posted June 27, 2016 You can report this on the "scams and bait and switch" thread, including specifics like ads. Has been 3 times bitten ...and badly..but somehow im still not shy. There's a handful of them that work together and post ads ...with the pure intent of not providing you a service. Youll be asked to compesate them repeatedly over some time if you catch my drift. Obv i wont post up who are the ones. mess me off board
Regent 35404 Report post Posted June 27, 2016 I would never post face photos in my ads, as much as I'd like to be able to do so. I like having the option to travel to the US, and with their tendency to ban people from entering the country and face recognition software, I'd rather not take the risk of being identified as a sex worker at the border (even if I'm not breaking the law at all here at home and have no intention of doing so south of the border.) Add on stigma and there are so many really legit reasons for service providers to not post face photos. I hope some day those barriers will be gone and we'll be treated like other business people.
fresh 8278 Report post Posted June 27, 2016 I used to avoid providers who did show their face as I thought that if they were not concerned for their own identity then why would they be concerned with mine. I went away from that practice for a at least one provider who became my favourite and I felt very confident in her ability to use discretion. I guess different providers see the face pics differently. I still sometimes think as I originally did but I see it more as a guide line than a rule and I can also use research and a seperate phone to also help protect myself.
fresh 8278 Report post Posted June 29, 2016 I only got scammed once. I was so drunk and it was so sketchy Definately not one of my best moments. I survived my youth though. Better lucky than smart Although I am glad I found these forums and I appreciate my wisdom I kind of get a kick out of thinking about all the silly situations I found myself in.
Vas Deferens 120 Report post Posted August 8, 2016 Very informative and enlightening discussion, everyone! I'm not all that tech-savvy, so this may be old news to some of you. I didn't realize there is more than one version of Back Page. The one I am most familiar with is (I guess) the original: http://www.backpage.com , but I recently found out there's at least one other, the mobile version (optimized for mobile devices) - it links you directly to the escort list of the city of your choice: backpage.com.winnipeg.hoxnif.com The interesting thing I discovered is that some SPs advertise on one version but not the other. - V

Kissralynnkay 1129 Report post Posted August 28, 2016 Here are my thoughts on this subject and please keep in mind that I'm an amateur not an expert and I'm very new to this industry. I think going by pictures and phone numbers can be misleading. I for one started playing a fetish with a close circle of friends being an escort which was incredibly sexually stimulating and I only played with well known friends i.e. I did not see real clients. However, as I got comfortable this circle of friends started to expand a little. Now I'm looking to expand my information on the subject to make sure I stay legal and safe. But, going back to the subject in this thread I can tell you that putting your cell number online is the worst thing to do. I kept getting all kinds of calls and txts all hours non stop to the point where I had to change my cell number to stop it. I have no idea how other escorts do it with the phone number thing. Also it's worth to mention that getting good pictures is kind of difficult to do so as soon as I got some few pix of me dressed as an escort I used them all over the place (playing the fetish game). So you see, my point is that you could be missing out on real good companions if you go by the phone and pix alone. If I would to give an advise I'd say if she's real she would definitely want to cam with you and with the cam session you both can gauge each other. If the escort is an amateur like myself I know I would want to see my client beforehand especially if the escort thing is a side income and not a full time job.
fortunateone 156618 Report post Posted August 29, 2016 i understand you are new, but no, people do not want to cam, in fact that is often the very last thing either clients or escorts want. The way to meet someone is thru communication with them, email, texting, phone conversation. The best way to protect your own privacy and safety is to not use face pics, and do not use real names, and do not show yourself via cam (unless it is a paid cam site of course) but perhaps make that a feature (paid) for someone who has already met you. The number one scam guys know about with online ads is the fake escort who says she has to cam with them first, and then there is a roundabout way of getting their cash and sent to a Romanian porn site. Camming first has become a red flag danger lol i suggest you take a look around at ads, and reviews, and see what everyone else is doing. that way you may not know why people do it that way, but you will see how to go about posting ads and photos. the last thing you need is to get a bunch of time wasters camming taking up your time and never booking. of course they aren't booking, they are getting face time for free.
Regent 35404 Report post Posted August 31, 2016 I would literally never want to cam with someone before a session. Clear communication through email and phone, as well as screening on my end and reading my website, ads, and social media on the client's end are sufficient for gauging each other 99% of the time. These methods don't invite time wasting and don't require either of us to show our faces where they could be screenshotted and shared.
Kissralynnkay 1129 Report post Posted September 5, 2016 Yes I understand your view point. It is true if you want to remain anonymous and people wouldn't want to loose money on a cam session. However, I'm public about it. i.e. my face and my details are public on my social media and personal web site. Also when I say cam meaning free cam session using hangouts or skype so I can see who is my date going to be. There are lots of creeps out there and caming with them helps me gauge their personality from observing their behavior. Before I cam with a potential person they'd have to send me their details first and after I cam. This is my way to screen people and you are right most escorts do it very different. Also from the client perspective he will see how I look like and not depend on online pictures and see that I'm real and I match my details on my social media and escort sites.
