f158 973 Report post Posted June 10, 2016 Don't mean to be a troll here but the death of a woman living in Montreal apparently caused by a "pit bull" only goes to further the stereotype of the breed. http://montreal.ctvnews.ca/charges-possible-after-woman-dies-following-pit-bull-attack-1.2938533 @Meaghan: I'm copying the article here for you to read the last two lines where it says: Pit bulls are banned throughout the province of Ontario, with pit bull owners not even permitted to travel across the province with their dogs because they can be euthanized if caught. Seems that Winnipeg is the least of your worries.
mosesmalone 120 Report post Posted June 12, 2016 I guess the history of pit bulls recorded in books must be wrong. Their history says they were created and selectively bred for 800 years to attack and kill. Their reality is they were responsible for 82% of dog attack fatalities in 2015. They kill more than all other breeds combined. Any breed can be a fighting dog?? LLoll A toy poodle?? Sell crazy somewhere else.
rubintugger 3323 Report post Posted June 13, 2016 I guess the history of pit bulls recorded in books must be wrong. Yes, a toy poodle can be dangerous to other animals and its owner. It has teeth and a powerful jaw. Generally, dogs do what they are trained to do. Until a bulldog is trained to fight, its isn't a killer. Neither are Rotti's, Chows, etc. And even after they have been trained to fight, and abused into that horrible bloodsport, they have been rescued and become loving pets. Some, however, never recover, and must be destroyed. Like thousands of "aggressive" dogs that are put down each year by "humane" societies, because they are dangerous and not adoptable. Yes, "humane" societies the world over destroy all breeds of dogs for aggression. Chihuahua's to Dane's, if an animal is abused bad enough, or bred bad enough (backyard breeders, doing designer dogs that are inbred beyond belief), it can be dangerous to other animals and its owners. Yes, any dog can be a weapon. It isn't hard to do. But not every bully becomes a vicious fighter. The vast majority end up as victims in the ring, because they can't fight. But, like a police dog that fails its training, they can make great pets if not abused and to fight. Some are more dangerous that others when used as a weapon, due to their physical stature. But to ban something for the potential they have to be bad, without them displaying any bad behaviour, well, that's just wrong. It is something our society has to rise above, racial profiling. Judging danger based on appearance is not what a civilized society does. There are laws on the books to handle dangerous/vicious dogs. There is no need for one based solely on breed.

mosesmalone 120 Report post Posted June 20, 2016 That;s great news Rubintugger. So you can train beagles and use them to pull a dogsled? You can train a rottweiler to track a scent? You can train a teacup Yorkie to fight in a pit? LOL Get the outa here with your B.S. Dog fighter fight pit bulls.. not poodles. They use pit bulls because they were selectively bred to attack and kill. Dogs are selectively bred for a purpose. They are not trained for a purpose... it's called selective breeding and it is why we have different breeds of dog. Comparing a breed of dog to a race of humans is really ignorant. The majority of fatal pit bull attacks in 2015 were from family owned pit bulls who were never abused, never taught to fight, and were raised right and loved. Maybe you should give the victims family a call and explain your theory to them. Repeating lies gets people killed.
rollhay 1215 Report post Posted June 20, 2016 There are a small number of people who are afraid of dogs . They will never agree that pitties aren't terrifying . Don't bother trying to confuse them with facts.
rubintugger 3323 Report post Posted June 20, 2016 Haters gonna hate. Guns don't kill people, people kill people. We're not asking to make everyone own a pitbull. Just like we wouldn't make everyone own a gun. Some people can't handle a weapon. The key is, we don't restrict people from owning a gun. Which is the key here. Because, regardless how responsible you are, how well trained the dog is, you cannot own a bully breed in Winnipeg. You cannot get a permit, a license or a provision in any way to own a bully breed. But you can own a husky, a malamute or any other dog, even though they have been proven to be just as lethal. What we are asking for is the ability to license someone, who takes the proper precautions, to own one of these lovely creatures. And should it become an issue, if the animal is shown to be dangerous, then take action, just like any other dog.
fortunateone 156618 Report post Posted June 20, 2016 i don't think sled dogs are house pets. From what i remember, they are raised and trained differently, plus anyone who has them has a bunch of them, so more unlikely to be cuddled up by the fire or sleeping on the bed. I don't really care what happy home someone puts their big dogs in, what kind of enclosure, how secure the chain, how cuddly they are with the babies: put a muzzle on them before opening the door, or going for walkies, or taking to the off leash park, and no one will be confiscating or putting them down or shooting them, because they will not be able to kill or hurt anyone. If a big dog owner cares about their pets, they need to ensure that pet is not going to go off the rails, or if it does, that no one can fault them for not doing everything in their power to reduce the chance of it hurting someone. We don't let our dogs run out onto the street into incoming traffic either, if we care about them. If you care about your big dogs, you are going to make sure that no one can come for them, and that means doing what you have to when they have even the slightest chance to get out in public. I also am not that swayed by the number of fatalities, when we know that not everyone is going to die from a dog attack, but they can be very seriously injured. I also think that people who drive when they have been drinking should be in enclosures, leashed and/or muzzled, anything necessary to keep them from getting behind the wheel, and on the road. Meaghan McLeod 179664 Report post Posted June 23, 2016 http://s120.photobucket.com/user/erichart/media/4kcooy8.gif.html Mosesmalone - once again - you are spreading misinformation. The attack in Surrey was in fact an American Bull Dog - and not a pit bull. Yes the press keeps spreading this incorrect information - and people like you reguritate it. I could go through your other stats and show they are also incorrect, but quite frankly, I am tired of you not listening to what I am saying. One reported was in fact a jack russell/collie, another was a rottweiler/lab. The press only likes to grab headlines, and right now - its Pit Bulls - even if they are not in fact pit bulls. I get it - you don't like these dogs. However, if you are going to report facts - make sure they are correct.
blacklabdog 3049 Report post Posted June 23, 2016 stats so unreliable partly because : http://thetruthaboutpitbulls.blogspot.ca/2011/04/find-pit-bull.html Legislation should be aimed at punishing owners regardless of the breed.

mosesmalone 120 Report post Posted June 24, 2016 once again Meaghen, I appreciate the fact we live in a free society and can have these debates. I believe we should start with the truth and form opinions from there. Accusing the media of spreading misinformation is a pit bull lobby strategy that has resulted in many people being maimed and killed by pit bulls. When you say "American Bulldogs" are you speaking of the breed "American pit bulldog" as this breed was formerly known before the name change in the 70's? Progressive legislation includes American bulldogs under the pit bull umbrella. American bulldogs have blood sport lineage that goes back to the old british bulldog, the same breed used to create pit bulls. Lets not debate the media... lets look at the facts. 2015 Dog Bite Related Fatalities in the U.S. Updated after each fatality following fact finding research 36 Dog Bite Related Fatality by Breed. 28 by Pit Bull/Pit Bull Mix 2 by Rottweiler 1 by Golden/mixed breed 1 by American bulldog, Rhodesian Ridgeback, Labrador mix 4 Unknown/Pending By Age : 14 Children 22 Adult
Steamroller 434 Report post Posted June 26, 2016 I'm sure there are other pages / site to discuss dog laws rather than and escort discussion board. Sorry, not that I've put a lot of input forward but 5 pages of comments on a dog thread and rarely a thread about an actual escort.
