halifax76 2855 Report post Posted May 30, 2016 I'm just wondering if anyone here knows about a sex therapist. You see it on TV all the time, but really nothing on TV is accurate these days. Does this field actually exist in the HRM? I personally have mental blocks I'm trying to deal with and was wondering if anyone was willing to share experience or knowledge of this type of service. Thanks.
Seaniew3 340 Report post Posted May 30, 2016 I have seen one therapist advertise such services in Winnipeg. I did not contact them and do not know more details. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Meaghan McLeod 179664 Report post Posted May 30, 2016 Yes they do exist. Most therapists have specialities - i.e. addictions counselling, marriage counselling, child counselling. So, you would want to look for someone who is sex positive and has an understanding on what you are looking for. I don't have a specific recommendation, but here is a link to help get you started. https://therapists.psychologytoday.com/rms/prof_results.php?city=Halifax&state=NS&spec=17 Good Luck!
vazimollo 1336 Report post Posted May 30, 2016 This should get you started. I personally know one of the psychologists who works there, but she is not the sex therapist. They are a very reputable business. Best of lucks. http://lesleyhartmanassociates.ca/#vision-company
Guest S****r Report post Posted May 31, 2016 Here in Otrawa, we have Sue McGarvie. She is reputable. I have attended some of her lectures. So they definitely exist. http://www.sexwithsue.com/about-me/ Also the Royal Ottawa mental health facility has one on staff, but I believe he is just for sexual offenders. status4 790 Report post Posted July 1, 2016 In Halifax, I would recomend Mariner & Mariner Counselling, they are a couple but you can see either one of them or both. I met with Anne for a few months for some sexual issues, this was about 15 years ago but she was very kind and helpful, made me feel very comfortable discussing my issues, nice lady. They are both university educated with advanced degrees and licensed. Still in the same spot on Spring Garden Rd http://www.mariner-mariner.ca/
halifax76 2855 Report post Posted July 5, 2016 I've made an appointment already, but they do have a 6 month waiting list. I may need to give the one you mentioned a try and see if they are as in demand as the other place. Thanks everyone.
