Website for a dancer?

Recommended Posts

Guys: do you think a website for a dancer is too much

Let me explain: clubs are not doing a lot of promoting so i decided to promote myself

What should be on a dancer website ? Schedule, wishlist. Can't wait to hear your ideas!

Schedule, wishlist, lots of pics, a brief intro into who you are and what you like to do when not working (ie: hobbies/activities), 3 or 4 lines every week about your week (blog?), and as far as pics go, we don't need see your face-we respect your privacy.

Great idea but be prepared to maintain it regularly. If you get a surge in visitors or build a list of regulars after initiation of your web site let me know. It could serve as an example to other dancers that may follow your lead:)

Go for it.

A website is a terrific idea. I don't know if having a daily blog is necessary, but a page where you can post things like announcements is a good idea.

The basics would be your splash page, with a terrific picture or gallery of scrolling photos is ideal to grab the attention right away. Links across the top, of course: schedule, photos/videos, about me, announcements, wishlist, contact. Each of those pages can be broken up into relevant sections, but this is a good division of content, leaving each page fairly short.

I don't see a need for anything more than that. This is an information site.

Sure, you can probably cobble something together yourself, but this is what will tell your clients and potential clients what you can't say in person. THIS is worth spending some money on. You really want this to look as professional and classy as possible. Take a look at the websites of some of the escorts here on LYLA.COM for some great ideas.

A good website developer is really worth the money. If this is what they do for a living, they'll get the job done quickly, and the way you want it. They'll show you how to update the content with an easy to use program or website development interface like Squarespace. With that site, you can get your domain and set everything up with a clean, clear drag and drop page development system. You can get your domain through them, which helps a lot in the setup. Make sure your developer helps you to get email set up with your domain as well. You're paying for it. You might as well get the most utility you can.

info @ yourdomain.ca

megan @ yourdomain.ca

fuckoff @ yourdomain.ca

dirtypillows @ yourdomain.ca

There are many options. I have and use several for my website for various reasons. I've even found the way to hook it up and use my personal domain email through the GMAIL interface, which makes it so much easier to use. Of course, you'll pay Google a small monthly fee for this, per address. It's about $50/year.

Everyone thinks that they can make a great website. I'm pretty good, and found that even my best efforts were childish compared to what my dev came up with in a week. Spend time talking to them and come up with a good plan that is what you want. Have them work with the photographer if you can.

I paid a developer to create some great content for me and he put it all together using Squarespace and I was able to add pages and other content as I needed to. I could change themes on the fly to find whatever I wanted. You can edit everything offline before you publish it. Yes, Squarespace is primarily for businesses that deal with online transactions and their cheapest plan is US$12/month. There are others if you look around. Shopify comes to mind.

Find a professional photographer, and pay him for the exclusive rights to your pictures. Get a contract to that effect before you begin.

Make sure you have a contact page instead of just an email address. This extra layer of obfuscation will allow you to only reply to those you wish to, without disclosing your email address. Post your Instagram, Facebook, and other social media links here as well. You could put them in the footer of every page, but I find it cleaner to put them only on the contact page.

I am not a website developer, nor a photographer. Leave me alone. [emoji14]

Coincidentally, one of the design sites I like to follow posted this recently. It is sponsored content for the above mentioned website delivery system, but the information is good.

Thanks guys ! My website is " on the way " , i opted for a discreet design instead of something your wife could find "suspicious"

I like the language idea im bilingual

The blog ( one a week or so )

I like that you don't need to see my face, but if requested by a well known member HERE i don't mind

I think the real strippers are dying and i want to keep this rare breed alive ( the real showgirls , costumes, glamour, the rare ones who make as much money as lawyers)

I hope lots of girls will follow my lead , i am one of the veterans dancers at barbs as you call them .

Yeah, discrete may be the way to go. There are enough awesome pics on your Instagram feed already that you don't really need to repeat them.

YEAH BABY, YEAaaahhhh!

In general, websites for ladies give me a hard on, however, like getting a dance or having a session - it depends on the quality of the performance, for how much I enjoy it and keep returning for more.

The Website must be a clean, professional design, oozing with some sexiness and at the same time, informative.

For me, this conveys a level of experience/seriousness about the services I could expect (vs. unknown amateurs), while at the same time getting to know the girl more beyond just a passing glance at the bar. In other words, it's another dimension to 'her' and the business and, imho, helps distinguish you from others (when competing to market against so many other girls out there).

What can I say... I'm a Web Designer who built escort sites before, and know how well they can do for business.

As a typical guy, well, I can only say it's always better to see more sexy girls online than not :-D Better yet, is knowing where and when I can see them dance in person... :-D

@Megan - Good on ya! ...for getting your site up, and making the web even sexier ;-)

Following the KISS principle, if I were you I would consider:

Using WordPress to create a 1-Page Website (buy a sexy theme), which is Mobile-ready (ie: responsive). Forcing people to click/load more pages for little added info is so 2010, and hogs bandwidth for your smartphones etc. Using your thumb, people just want to scroll down a quick-loading single page and see it all in 1 go. It's not like your building an online store or membership site.

Even add your Twitter and Instagram feeds to it.

Email can be added for lot less than $50 a yr with either your domain registrar or via your host (which can be had for $0 to $5 a month max.).

Blog I say is optional. (Twitter + Instagram covers this better imo, unless you really got something to write about). Note: Min. 100 words for google to even care about a blog post for indexing, let alone min. 350 words to compete in listings against others. So yeah, if less than that then I only use social media.

In the end, using WordPress makes it easy to manage your content, post new stuff, and is free. (Not to mention the majority of blogs on the Web are run by WordPress, and for good reason.) There are also tons of free tutorials to learn anything you want about working with it.

Design Tip: When taking photos you want to use for your site, try and take them as 'big' as you can, with the highest resolution and file size possible, as once taken - you can always make the media/images smaller, but if too small, can never make them bigger (without losing quality).

...and Et Voila! Easy-peasy lemon-squeezy!Save</span>

Great start and I look forward to your blog. I guess I will have to have a look at Twitter for pics. See you at Barbs one of these days:)

Yes Megan it is clear you work at Barb's. 2Big may have meant to type when instead of where. Regardless, advertising your shift times helps those of us who would like to meet you (me! lol). Adding a location if you happen to tour to another club would help too.

Whether it's your website, twitter or lyla it helps to get the info out there.

I may be blind but I didnt see you were at Barbs specifically. I had to google address. For idiots like me, the thme isnt enough of a clue lol

Site could use some tweaks to help site appear higher in a google search if that is what you want

Megan: it is good to generate traffic to your website and yet lyla provides excellent traffic - Here is a good section to post in - it hasn't in the past generated many posts:

Ottawa FETISH, DANCERS & CLUBS and other ALTERNATIVES - Schedules & announcements

Bridgette, a long time (though infrequent) and popular dancer at Barbs has used this section effectively and also simply updates her availability on her profile. A shout box post can direct gentlemen there.
