Guest pagypie Report post Posted June 1, 2017 people that work at barbs were always great but the bar itself is a dirty dive imo and that poll is pretty meaningless
SQFoster 160 Report post Posted June 2, 2017 The drink prices are more than fair, the wait staff is friendly, security is nice and professional...but the place needs updating.
HUGS AND KISSES 2276 Report post Posted June 2, 2017 I agree with everything you say and I am all for upgrading too but hard to convince any businessman to invest when closure is only a few years away. I wouldn't do it myself if I was the owner really. But as I said what makes a bar great is the angels who work there not table and chairs. So the chairs are old so what? Are they unsafe? Are they bacteria infected? Did anyone get sick being there? Did the ceiling collapse on anyone's head? In spite of the need for upgrade the fact remains that Barbarellas can attract the highest quality of dancers in Ottawa in terms of beauty and class and I named a few dozen who have been recommended highly on this very board by most established members past few months alone. Dancers feel safe because the Champagne rooms are open and also because the cameras are in the Champagne rooms and a few I spoke with would never dance anywhere else because of those factors. And open rooms and cameras don't bother me at all as ladies' safety comes first in my book. I have great memories in this bar and met the greatest people and many I still care about and hate to see their income being hit or well being suffer in any way and hard for me to witness what appears to be a deliberate and coordinated effort by just few to put down and discredit this great bar by spreading rumors or making public unproven or unsubstantiated allegations or exaggerating the negative aspects while ignoring all the positives. I am not going to stand by and say nothing when I see that the people I care about could be hit or suffer. Do you realize what you do? You are not only attacking the bar but more so attacking the dancers' incomes and well beings which for most is the only source of income who are mostly students or single mums. It is bad enough for them as is, then don't make it worse for those who used to be your own friends not long ago!!. I am sorry if I am coming out too harsh. I don't have any self serving reason or reasons for my positivity. I am here to promote dancers and promote the strip bar industry and would do what I can including opening threads like the poll I conducted (even if it is pretty meaningless as one "unbiased"!!! member stated and thanked for by another!!!) or threads to remind people that Ottawa Gatineau bars rock and encourage people to frequent more and support their local bars and many posts promoting and highly recommending many deserving dancers. Even if I have to so called as claimed cherry pick data. If this thread was about Barefax under attack then I would have said that Baredax was voted a close first among Ottawa bars by the poll to make it look as positive as possible!!!! On second thought to whoever wishes to boycott then go ahead if you wish and deprive yourself of best quality dancers as it is your prerogative and then all these beautiful dancers will be free for me :). MeganDancer 3675 Report post Posted June 3, 2017 Barbarellas was, is and will be top notch bar. What makes a bar top notch is the classy beautiful friendly skillful exotic dancers like many who are highly recommended by many reputable established cerbites who have in the past and present highly recommended current dancers like Phoenix, Kitty Kat, Sammie, Harvey, Bridgette, Ariel, Alexis, Katrina, Natasha, Anna, Georgia, Juicy, Nicole, Stacy, Samantha, Seven, Layla, Dallas, Raven, Maria and many more (and past great ones like Jenny, Mary Jane, Sasha Love, Megan and the list goes on to include hundreds more) who are currently dancing at Barbarellas not the table and chairs (which btw are not any more damaged or less hygienic than any other bar I have been to like Playmates or Taboo or even Pigale) and in that regard (skillful beautiful classy and friendly dancers) Barbarellas has been top notch for many years and will remain top notch for years to come. I don't know about you gentlemen but whenever I go to an SC I go for the ladies like above named highest quality dancers not the table and chairs. As I mentioned earlier the Saturday bartender told me that this popular bar (voted number 1 in Ottawa by cerb membership) will remain open for a few more years likely as much as FIVE. and those classy ladies that you named, would gladly appreciate new chairs in the back room , a few curtain and a dimmed light for more privacy to keep them clients longer in the back . They would apprecdiate friendlier staff too . see all those things make a club go down : where are their home girls now.... it isnt ottawa s number one club anymore, it s a dive to the point where we carry blankets in the back to not sit on the chairs... yes it was good in the past, but not anymore , even the bar smells, like playmate is better in terms of hygieve (thats a bad thing to say but its truth ) I m a dancer and workwise, i doubt the place can pass the code give me 1000$ and i could put the place a bit more decent , it shows how the owner doesnt care i don t think i am negative, I am just realistic ,
HUGS AND KISSES 2276 Report post Posted June 3, 2017 Again you are not only hurting the bar alone but mostly you are hurting the dancers who many were your own friends and many choose to work there. You know yourself that many of them are dependent on their income and prefer to keep their income as is than new chairs or upgrades. If what you say is true and they are so unhappy so why they don't move to another bar like neighboring Barefax or NuDen or Pigale? Because they like where they are. You know that I know many dancers there for a long time and I have spoken with them suggesting Barefax or Pigale because I was unhappy with non-private nature of the CRs but they said no way that would choose somewhere else because they feel safer here and I respected that and am happy for them. In spite of everything, Barbarellas open Champagne rooms and cameras makes them feel safe and they dance nowhere else. You danced there yourself for several months as recent as a couple of months ago. This chair issue or upgrade is the latest and to some extend legitimate. But before public posts were complaining about open CRs and then complains made about cameras and then allegations made that owner showed films taken in the CR to others and one even claiming that bouncers are walking around with his porno films...... Unsubstantiated, exaggerated allegations as I see it a coordinated effort to bring down or discredit this bar which I don't care but I do care about the ladies who are going to be hit for most part and by far the worse. Everyone I spoke with about films being taken in the Champagne rooms by cameras and shown to others in public by owners Vigorously denied this rumor and commented that the owner would NEVER do such thing. My best and most trusted one said she knows the owner and he would never do such thing. If you wish to boycott, great do so and the girls would be for all others who love this bar but do not spread rumors in public or encourage others to boycott too. Sure I hope too that the owner come to his senses and spend a few thousand on the bar. In fact the next time I see him I will convey this message quoting cerb or Lyla comments about his bar and also will pass this along to the staff. They also have a web site with text boxes where one can send comments. Btw, Barbarellas was voted second best in NCR after Pigale and best in Ottawa by those patrons who frequent strip bars only one month ago so being a dive and being the best as a thing of the past is not true. Also not true Playmates is not more hygienic. Most of the time they don't even have liquid sanitizer and when I complained that dancers are moving from one customer to another without washing out or sanitizing then no action was taken. And table and chairs are not cleaner or more hygienic either.

Guest pagypie Report post Posted June 3, 2017 again with bringing up the poll and acting defensive when i was an active customer, barbs was the only place i went because thats where my favourite dancers were. even then i would say it was my favourite place, but absolutely i would have said the bar itself was a dive, in disrepair, and needed renovations and cleaning. loving barbs and thinking its divey aren't mutually exclusive opinions. please stop insinuating there is some sort of conspiracy against barbs or people want to harm the dancers. if anything, wanting the place to be fixed up is to say they want a better workplace for their favourite dancers so it actually helps their business. the amazing dancers at barbs deserve a better workplace. lastly, megan worked there. she has a right to provide an opinion on her workplace that she spent a lot more time there than randos here online. her opinion weighs 200% more than anyone else's could. HUGS AND KISSES 2276 Report post Posted June 3, 2017 You are entitled to your opinion sir and so is Megan and I am entitled to mine too with all due respect. I am not going to take part or respond to anymore post in this thread, I have said what I wanted to say and posting here only give more publicity to the negatives and negativity. So you can talk one-sided to yourself and few supporters and thank each other too again and again if you wish.

r__d 12698 Report post Posted June 3, 2017 I'm wondering if some of us (and I'm definitely including myself here) just have a kind of nostalgia for 340 having attended so very many times over the years (indeed decades!) and as a result may have become less than completely objective in our preferences. Certainly H&K has a number of valid reasons (to him - and that's what matters) for his continued patronage of Barb's and careful readers of this forum will be aware that this gent also attends and opines regarding some of the other clubs discussed here. While I don't mean to be a defender of Barb's without reservation, I think it's fair to say that many, if not all, of the posters to this thread have not been altogether immune to the venue's charms as recently as late last year. Those who are concerned about some of the issues ("smile...you're on candid camera") raised more recently in other threads of course are entitled to their own preferences and choices. A number of us have noticed the slow deterioration of certain aspects of the 'decor' at 340 and I've certainly wondered if this is related to (to return to the initial topic of this thread) the eventual closing of the club. It's always difficult to watch an old friend go downhill. Suppose I really should have attended more recently before making this post, but I'm not sure my view would be much different. To be fair, my own outlook may well have been rose-tinted regarding this club as a result of my interest in an ATF dancer there. The anticipation of seeing a long-time fave may have compensated for a multitude of sins in the eyes of a bedazzled beholder. But now I'm succumbing to that nostagia again.
Kilt Boy 29353 Report post Posted June 3, 2017 Don't misread me, I don't want it to close either. I think it's a much desired establishment in that area for some. I've never campaigned for it's closure. I have no hard data on a date of closure, or even of a certainty that it will. I expect that it will, though. That's just my opinion based on nothing more than speculation brought on by what I read here. It could all be urban legend, passed from one scared camper to another. safety11 1327 Report post Posted June 3, 2017 Been going to this club for over ten years. And due to its location, there has always, always, always been an ongoing rumour that Barb's will shut down within the next couple of years/months/days. Still my favourite place, but I do remember when you couldn't even get in the door on a Friday...
r__d 12698 Report post Posted June 3, 2017 Still my favourite place, but I do remember when you couldn't even get in the door on a Friday... Remember this as well. There came a point when I began to avoid going to Barb's on Friday/Saturday nights because on many of those busy nights one simply could not leave one's seat for any reason without losing your table. Guest pagypie Report post Posted June 3, 2017 re: the poll, it's worthless and you continue to read far more too much into it re: the cameras, I didn't insinuate anything. you dismissed the op, I simply said there's nothing wrong with believing the op, or at least be wary of it. I also stated that cameras would never concern me or stop me from going, that I didn't care if I was filmed. i for one, believe there are many untrustworthy, unethical people out there, and thats it. i believe the op enough to believe it warrants consideration. I loved barbs. you keep maintaining a psychotic conspiracy theory but in truth I've spent more time and money there than most. if I wanted barbs to fail, I imagine I wouldn't say things like "I don't want barbs to fail" and "I hope barbs is fixed up for the sake of their amazing roster of dancers". for the second time, loving barbs and believing it needs to be cleaned aren't mutually exclusive. the second someone says anything negative, you throw an incoherent fit without reading anything they have to say. no one here hates barbs. if you're so concerned about dancers and clubs and people continuing to visit any club, maybe consider that being the panties police isn't helpful either? maybe its sort of childish and silly. verticalsmile 300 Report post Posted November 23, 2017 Please sneak some mash potatos gravy and salad fir me in the parking lolI totally agree with Megan on the fact that Barbs is not being looked after by the owners. They definitely need new chairs in the back room. I do however remember that at one point they bought new black leather chairs and as they broke, the owners brought back the old shitty chairs that they got rid of. Instead of investing in new chairs at that point, they invested in new expensive hi-def cameras in the CR (a huge tread is available on that topic). I'm pretty sure they are still paying for those cameras, and I'm not entirely sure the increased dancer safety. What I did hear was that the footage from those cameras were used by management to control dancers and possibly even blackmail them.So now I don't really even want to go to Barbs. The job as a dancer in an sc is probably a job that puts women in the potential to be in a vulnerable position. When I go I try and make it comfortable, relaxed and enjoyable. If anything is not to their liking I change as they request. But when I heard that some of the footage from those cameras were being abused by management, I decided to leave. It was my atf sc too... sigh However Megan I disagree that the playmate is more hygenic. I wont provide details, but I know from experience that the playmate is much less hygenic - especially in the CR. V.S. WillingtoSpend 1520 Report post Posted November 23, 2017 What I did hear was that the footage from those cameras were used by management to control dancers and possibly even blackmail them. I'm a Barbs regular and have chatted with many, many dancers there about the work environment, cameras, etc. Never have I heard that footage is being used against them. Actually, contrary to your statement, almost all the dancers enjoy being at Barbs because they prefer the management compared to the other SCs. The only negative I've heard is the foot traffic, especially since all the construction BS.
adrian1968 1000 Report post Posted November 26, 2017 This probably isn't the place to ask this but there used to be a dancer who worked there who's stage name was Paris - her real name was "Heather". She had beautiful blue eyes and long dark brown hair. Does anybody know if she still works here? I haven't been to barbs in awhile so she may have retired or moved on. At the time she was approx. 34 years old.

The only negative I've heard is the foot traffic, especially since all the construction BS. In general I've always liked the atmosphere at Barb's and have never heard any dancer complain much about any aspect of the club, with the exception of the CR chairs. Of course others may prefer a larger, noisier environment - having said that I can certainly recall a time when Friday/Saturday nights could be really frantic at Barb's. Some may disagree, but I prefer the smaller, more intimate feeling at Barb's (and the 'Mate). It can be easier to see who is (and isn't) in the club and the layout also provides convenient access to the CR or, for that matter, any part of the club. This is just my view though - I understand that some may like a bigger club with a louder, party-like scene. Additional Comments: This probably isn't the place to ask this but there used to be a dancer who worked there who's stage name was Paris - her real name was "Heather". She had beautiful blue eyes and long dark brown hair. Does anybody know if she still works here? I haven't been to barbs in awhile so she may have retired or moved on. At the time she was approx. 34 years old. You might try asking about this in the longer 'Barb's' thread (if you haven't already). The only Paris that I recall from Barb's was a lovely blonde who I don't think was anything close to 34.
Kilt Boy 29353 Report post Posted November 2, 2018 I noticed that they've put up the standard Claridge Homes sales centre on the corner of the block, so I fear that the club may not have much time left. Pity.
