WhereIRoam 21825 Report post Posted April 18, 2017 Buckle Up! Every change in American presidency brings a shift in trades between Canada and the US. This trend has always been up and down and seldom up and up or vice versa. We knew this "down" was coming and inevitable when Trump was elected as the next US President. How drastic and harsh to our economy it will be has yet to be seen. Trump is not a communist but some of his actions, visions and views are along a similar path. The effects of this could and probably will be noticeable in the near future, not next week or next month but will likely begin to show signs this year. Get ready Canadians, this could and will likely be a rough road ahead not only in regards to trades between us and our fellow neighbours to the south but it will more than likely have a massive negative impact on our economy in the short years ahead. Many wise groups and individuals have already began to prepare for this. I suggest to those of you who can and haven't already done so to do the same...
hank1364 576 Report post Posted April 18, 2017 Don't worry, Trump is full of shit! He likes to tell a good story to his base but he can't fulfill his campaign promises. He has already flipped on a number of them. The Dakota Access and the Keystone pipelines are great examples. He approved them and made a big deal about only US made steel would be used. Bullshit. He approved them with the existing pipe stockpiles that Trans Canada Pipeline already had and that the pipe didn't have to come from US mills. US mills don't have the capability to meet the schedule demands for these pipelines. The pipe is to made in the US, Canada and, I believe, a small amount in India, up to 15 percent. Trump signed an executive order to allow the pipeline to be built but that order does not specify made in America pipe only. He signed a separate order at the same time that only US made pipe and parts would be used for the maintenance of the pipeline, once completed. Trump combined or took what he wanted from the 2 separate executive orders and presented them as one to make it look like he got a great deal. He can't just undue existing trade deals on his own. Changes must pass through the House and Senate. I have never liked Trump nor watched his reality shows. He is a fraud. He has cheated contractors and investors in the past. What great deal maker has 4 bankruptcies? Trump, since the 1980's has sought fame and has been since then, a celebrity "wanna be". He would say or do whatever it took to get himself on television, in the newspapers or magazines. I believe that, had the media ignored him in the past, that maybe he would have went away. Instead, they gave him a tv show. Now look at where we are!
Dave in Phoenix 753 Report post Posted April 19, 2017 Yes Trump has been a self-absorbed egotistical lying fraud all his life. But he can deceive millions to vote for his fake promises. Now reports of how Canada has to deal with folks from the U.S. escaping to Canada.
WhereIRoam 21825 Report post Posted April 19, 2017 Now reports of how Canada has to deal with folks from the U.S. escaping to Canada. "escaping" - a word in such a sentence usually reserved for people fleeing countries of war, poverty or dictatorship. In this case, the last option being more fitting.
