Taffer 2280 Report post Posted May 27, 2017 When I first started I was using tineye to check for fake photos. Eventually I discovered that I can just right click an image and hit search google for image. Google seems to return a lot more results. I've recently run the images from 3 ads through google and came back with the images linked to various ads with differing names/#'s around the world. Tineye didn't catch any of these, and the common theme seems to be that the ads google finds have since been removed. So what do you think, is google too sensitive, or is tineye too lax? Manluvsex 13731 Report post Posted June 5, 2017 (edited) Source: Wikipedia ''Reverse image searches'' Google Images Google's Search by image is a feature that utilizes reverse image search and allows users to search for related images just by uploading an image or image URL. Google accomplishes this by analyzing the submitted picture and constructing a mathematical model of it using advanced algorithms. It is then compared with billions of other images in Google's databases before returning matching and similar results. It should be noted that when available, Google also uses metadata about the image such as description. TinEye TinEye is a search engine specializing in reverse image search. Upon submitting an image, TinEye creates a "unique and compact digital signature or fingerprint" of said image and matches it with other indexed images. This procedure is able to match even heavily edited versions of the submitted image, but will not usually return similar images in the results. Edited June 5, 2017 by Manluvsex Added underlining. nntsci 11076 Report post Posted June 5, 2017 I find that tineye is more selective finding only the exact original of an image... this can be particularly good. Google finds related images which can also be useful... I find tineye catches some things that google images does not, and vice versa. Not sure which is better, but the similar images that google finds can be useful. Tineye has a more selective databased of images, and I don't think it samples as many different images. Taffer 2280 Report post Posted June 5, 2017 I seem to be getting a lot of false positives with google images. It will tell me that a particular providers image is in use in an ad, but when I click the link it's either a dead link or the image isn't being used in the ad. Other times google images will catch a genuine copycat ad that tineye doesn't see. So I guess both are useful, it's just to bad tineye doesn't have the right click image feature...I wonder if there's a chrome extension. Update: There is indeed a tineye chrome extension, works really well, adds tineye link on right clicking an image :)

nntsci 11076 Report post Posted June 6, 2017 yeah, you'll get a lot of dead links in any reverse image search because a lot of the escort posts are only put up for a short time... its not the original... The original posts tend to be around longer... I did one search that first lead to some escort sites in Greece... that had another image of the lady... I did a search on the other image, and it went back even further to the original... which was basically a porn site like playboy... the (original) lady wasn't an escort at all. oh that is an issue to be wary... if you find that the lady's images was used by another escort site, it could be that hers are the original and the other one is the copy... so pay attention to the dates of the post.
