Newcomer craves insight prior to 1st visit.

Hi all! I'm visiting NS pretty soon and as excited as I am, I feel its always a good idea to gather some intel from the locals and from lyla members on both sides of perspective.

In Ottawa, I don't advertise anywhere except for lyla. I greatly enjoy the comfort and peace of mind that comes with seeing lyla members but I have heard that Lyla's presence isn't quite as large for the NS demographic as it is for Ottawa's. I was advised to dismiss my anti-BP ideals as its useful in NS and more importantly, it doesn't have the same rep it does in Ottawa. So Id like to get your point of view to.

Do you actively avoid SPs on BP?

If so, do you look anywhere other than lyla and if so, where?

I've also gathered the SP POV for hotels in the downtown area, which are good and which to avoid. From a hobbyist POV, are the any hotels that you avoid and what is the reason? IE Bad parking, Nosey staff, Bad rep etc.

I'm also welcoming more SP insight as well, the more I know, the better.

If you prefer, I welcome you to PM me if you prefer to not make your feedback public.

In advance, thank you to any/all who respond. I always prefer going to a new place armed with local knowledge. ;-)

I'm so stoked! Havent seen the Atlantic in years!!!

A lot of guys here start off with Lyla when looking for ads, then BP.

We know pretty much which ladies on BP are reputable, etc. Reverse image search also helps. I would not hesitate to advertise on BP, but make sure to pay for the ad to put you in the "Gallery" view, as this is where most guys will look.

As for hotels, first off - try and book ahead. Rooms down here now are filling up fast and you may be left with having to book more expensive rooms (i.e. executive or kind size rooms).

Depending on your room budget, you can't go wrong with the fancy-schmancy places like the Delta, Lord Nelson, Homewood Suites, Marriot, Hollis Halifax, Courtyard, Cambridge Suites etc. These rooms run in the $250 (or higher) and up range but sometimes go on sale.

Next on this list are the hotels that are in the downtown area for a lower price....

Four Points (between $175-300, depending on the day/sale, etc.) - only problem with this place is it is HIGH traffic and has poor parking due to construction in the area.

Westin (between $200-250) - good location, good parking, but again, high traffic.

Atlantica (between $175-225) - slightly out of the downtown core, but good parking and less traffic.

Best Western Chocolate Lake ($175-225) - even a bit further out of town. Parking is so-so.

There are other places downtown - Commons Inn, Seasons Motor Inn, Chebucto Inn, etc. - but these are the lower-end places.

Now, there are a plethora of good places on the outskirts of town, mostly in the Bayers Lake park area. These rooms are usually lower in price vs downtown, but, I , personally, like going to these places because it is lower traffic, always easy to park and, as an SP, you can cater to people from the Halifax area AND those who are coming in from out of town as most of these places are right off main highways.

Future Inn - ($150-200) - Great place. Nice rooms. Good parking. A lot of girls use this place.

Holiday Inn Express (closer to Bedford vs Halifax - $190-220) - Not a bad place, but the lobby is small, so it may be intimidating to customers. There is no sneaking by the desk here - your entrance is quite visible. lol

Chateau Bedford - Across the street from the Holiday Inn, same prices pretty much. Great parking and a nice lobby vs Holiday Inn.

Coastal Inn - ($150-200) - A newer place in the Bayers Lake park. Still close to Halifax, but not really around industrial areas per say like Future/Holiday Inn. Very low traffic and very good parking.

There are many, many other spots in town and outside town I could mention, but these are $80 a night rooms and most guys tend to be leery of these locations.

Dartmouth has pretty much the mirror of Halifax when it comes to rooms - there are higher end places and lots of lower end places. Dartmouth rooms are lower than their Halifax counterparts, but clients tend to avoid Dartmouth hotels.

Hope that helps!!! Enjoy your stay!! :) :)

Thank you so very much!!!!

This is extremely helpful! I think I'm sold on staying outside of downtown. I've done this in TO & Calgary and it was a good idea. I had assumed Halifax's downtown area wouldn't be as difficult for parking but I did not consider that being a smaller city, gents may be nervous about being seen. Staying outside the core sounds like the best of both worlds.

I'm a VIP equivalent member on a 3rd party hotel site so I do tend to wait til now to book, unless I see they are disappearing and price is going up. Generally it goes down at the last minute but yes, you do run the risk of a busy time and paying more. Its usually worth the risk but thank you for the warning.

Yes, I have no interest in the lower-end places. I don't feel safe in them, don't enjoy the run down look most have and I also don't want to be associated with that class level either. I confess, my last minute habit with hotels has gone awry a few times in Ottawa and Ive been stuck lol. Ottawa is one thing though, I know the city and I am known, so safety & rep aren't as worrisome as it would be in a new city.

I cant thank you enough for your having been so generous with your time in sharing your knowledge with me. I really appreciate it a lot!

Kisses,

Jessy
