Tiffany Amber 7031 Report post Posted January 16, 2011 Someone has hacked into my emails and changed my passwords and my security question, so I can not get into my email at all. I have no idea how this happened, I have a personal laptop that is password protected and I also change my passwords often. I am at a loss for answers as to who or why this happened. Rest assured that any emails that has been sent to me have been deleted upon reading them. I am very sorry for this inconvencience. I will be posting my new email very soon! Guest Ou**or**n Report post Posted January 16, 2011 Wow, scary situation. Good to hear you always delete old emails. Your discretion is admirable. How did it happen - do you use the same password elsewhere? Many people re-use the same passwords and thus your password is only as secure as the least secure site on which you used it. Some small sites don't use encryption for password transmission so your password could of gotten intercepted. Some sites also act as 'honeypots' getting you to create an account simply so they can a sample of your password. The other possibility is that someone got access to your laptop and installed a keyboard logger that emails out the log files. They can be hard to find but someone would of needed access to your laptop or lulled you into opening some email attachment which installed it. Change all your other passwords as quickly as possible. Consider the security of your laptop as you may want to think about copying off your data, reformatting and then putting your data back on.
