In general most prefer a phone booking due to the fact you can't really tell a persons character from their text.

You can usually tell a lot about someone by the way they present themselves, their manneurisms etc so it's kind of a way to help screen potentially dangerous "clients"

I know myself and a few others prefer online booking, phones are sometimes troublesome as we can't choose when you call us and might miss your call... With an email we can get back to you whenever we have a free minute and it lessens the likelihood of us missing your communication...

I prefer online bookings as well. It's nice to be able to plan ahead and have the time to prepare, over the occasional last minute phone calls. That's what I prefer. I've been overall successful with getting to know my clients by written communication. There's a context and a conduct to both. Plus, when you have a good correspondence back and forth and plan the encounter ahead, there's the whole anticipation factor that can be exciting.

I would have to agree with Erin, we arranged our first meeting thru email and made the final arrangements by phone.

I found that we were able to communicate a lot easier at first by email then by a "cold call" over the phone. I find it a lot easier to express my thoughts and feelings by writing them down along with the luxury of time to think about things. I am sure that the provider feels the same, it allows them the time to "get to know" a client.

The initial online communication between Erin and myself led to a wonderful encounter when we eventually met, it was like we had known each other for years............

Thank you Rodehard. You're very kind and we had great chats before we even met, which created the "I feel like I already know you" comfort and put us at ease for a wonderful encounter. I don't open up my space or location to just anyone. I'm a believer in "get to know your client" before a meet. It allows us to get to know someone and answer basic questions, focus on the clients and providers interests, use specific facts and create a conversational tone with the luxury of taking the time to think about things.

I maintain a low volume of great clients and wouldn't have it any other way. Taking the time to remember something about the client or provider creates a connection that is so meaningful and leads to a wonderful encounter. I've been personally touched many times.

I have received messages with "where r ur pics" or " I need to see you now. Give me ur number?" and do respond to them with "How about you tell me a little about yourself first, and we can get to all the good stuff after?" Many do not take the time to do so and they are probably the people I don't want to see.

To sum it up, it's about being aware, learning as much as you can about someone, and most importantly, staying safe.

I prefer communication over email' date=' but I give my location over the phone. I'm a little bit phone shy. :)[/quote']

You know, when I was reading this thread about online booking, I wasn't thinking about emails, but more along the lines of web-forms, where it's basically push-button reservation system. But I guess emails qualify as "online" as well.
