Kilt Boy 29353 Report post Posted February 18, 2018 Altered Carbon is an interesting sci-fi show. Don't be put off by all the wang in the first 2 episodes. That's where it ends. I really enjoyed the full frontal of Dichen Lachman in the 8th episode. This series is all kinds of fucked up and I appreciated that I couldn't predict what would happen next. That's a rarity for me.
Curvluvver 1051 Report post Posted February 18, 2018 Also just finished Altered Carbon. Great show! Now watching the Punisher and it's great too!
Dbass34 2238 Report post Posted February 19, 2018 I watch Captain America - Civil War, the movie that did introduce the Black Panther in the Avengers dimension. You bet that this is to go watch the movie Black Panther, sometime this week. Otherwise, I started to watch recently "The last man on Earth"... not sure yet where that show is going, but I give it a try for now. I also already saw the 4 Marvels stories : Luke Cage, Angela Jones, Iron Fist and Daredevil. Now I have to watch next The Defenders, that bring the 4 of them together. Gregsand 6116 Report post Posted February 19, 2018 Not a Netflix series, but I finished watching the first season of "Star Trek: Discovery" and truly enjoyed it. It's definitely an odd entry in the franchise and the two part pilot episodes didn't really represent what the new series was all about. It instead presented the main protagonist and the events that triggered the plot for the series itself. It's a well written story with plenty of references to the original series and plenty of new material. The "Discovery" name is a bit misleading as it's more about war and violence than to "Boldly go where no man has gone before". But, very good quality visual effects, plenty of plot twists and turns and a good cliffhanger ending to keep fans interested for more to come with season two. If a "Star Trek" fan and can survive the first episodes, you'll certainly enjoy it.

Gregsand 6116 Report post Posted February 19, 2018 Also looking forward to the second season of "Westworld" in April. The series is a reboot of the 1973 sci-fi movie and contain a few references to the source material. It's not for everyone as it contains a fair amount of extreme violence, gore, nudity and harsh language. The storytelling is also nonlinear, something that may confuse some. But it's done very well and the payoff is far better than the way it was done in "Lost". It was made by the same writers and creative team, but they learned from their mistakes. The first episodes are a bit slow because of the world building and exposition. But after the rules of the universe are established and main characters are introduced, the pace get quicker with plenty of twists, reveals and well made action scenes. They didn't cut any corners in term of production value, casting and writing. If can stomach series like "Game of Thrones" and enjoy sci-fi movies like "Blade Runner" and "Terminator", you'll certainly enjoy this.
dragon69 229 Report post Posted February 19, 2018 Watched Punisher and Riverdale too, liked them both (especially Punisher, was my favorite of the super hero ones). Just finished Black Mirror and Altered Carbon - both were awesome.
NotchJohnson 214136 Report post Posted January 6, 2020 Last night I started watching the series of "YOU" and so far after watching 4 episodes in season 1, I'm getting into it. Not only is the main actress in it very cute there is a good story and so are the other 3 supporting actresses. Would I recommend this show, yes for sure but only after watching the first 4 episodes, not sure how it will go after a few more.
Guest Report post Posted January 7, 2020 Not a Netflix show, but worth the watch on Disney+(or alternative sources), "The Mandalorian". The show is a return to source for the "Star Wars" universe with simple storytelling and minimal characters. The story is set five years after "Return of the Jedi" and plays a lot like a western. Many elements and Easter eggs reminds us this is the Star Wars universe, but never in a way to distract from the main story. Dark on occasions, funny in others and a few emotional moments. Most know about the presence of the child (aka Baby Yoda) who's the main plot element of the series. The first season ended last week after 8 episodes and the second was announced for Fall. It's been the best use of the Star Wars franchise since the original trilogy and hopefully this will inspire new series and movies in the future. I strongly recommend. I have watched "The tiger king" it's a true story and ever since I watched it I see posting of it all over. The first 2 episode were sort of mediocre but as it progressed I got into it. What can I say I'm isolating at home and I'm bored.
Guest Report post Posted April 8, 2020 Don't have Netflix but been watching season 3 of "Westworld" on HBO. It's not the violent gore-fest with nudity of the first season or the complete "mindf..ck" of the second. But it's an entertaining sci-fi thriller with enough twists and turns to keep you hooked. With non-linear storytelling and narrators with different perspectives, it's the kind of show you got to watch from the start to understand and appreciate the story. Would recommend of not offended by gore, violence, language and nudity.

Joe is no angel either...I think he got what he deserved....I don't want to spoil it so if you want to know more watch all the episodes.
NotchJohnson 214136 Report post Posted April 28, 2020 I watched the whole 8 episode of "Too Hot To Handle" and I must say that show was awesome. One contestant is a Canadian Instagram model from Vancouver BC, and in my opinion the hottest one on the show. All the ladies on that show where hot and it was well played. Anyone else watched this? I keep seeing it suggested on Netflix but didn't think it was my kinda thing... maybe I'll give it a go after your recommendation though! I'm currently watching Lucifer. Mazakeen (the demon in it) is one of the hottest women I've ever seen 🔥
Boomer 33202 Report post Posted April 28, 2020 It's rare that series can maintain and sustain high quality after a few years. I am watching two that are in their third season. The first is "The Crown", which was very good after changing lead actors with the shift of generations. I believe the fourth season is in the can, looking forward to it. The second is "Fauda" , a gritty series unusual for being produced in the middle east and addressing the Isreal/Palestinian issue.

Guest Report post Posted April 30, 2020 An History Channel creation available on Netflix, "Ancient Aliens". A guilty pleasure and one of the most unintentionally hilarious show on TV. Unbelievable it's still running strong after 15 seasons. The content is interesting, but when their "experts" jump in, it becomes nonsensical and comical. Most of it surrounds the constructions of those ancient buildings and infrastructures. In their opinions, if modern construction techniques can't (or struggle) to replicate, "Aliens must have built it". It's true most construction engineers could never built those type of structure. But not because of a lack of skills, but simply lack of demand. In an age of steel and concrete, there no financial or other advantages in using heavy stones for large constructions. Implying ancient Egyptian, Mayan and other civilisations were incapable of creating such structures, is offensive on so many levels. In that period, stones were a premium material and they had centuries of knowledge and experience in carving, handling and building with those. It's now a lost art. Not impossible, simply unpractical. Some of the "experts", most notably Giorgio A. Tsoukalos (the guy from the memes) became celebrities thanks to the show. As much of a joke he is, he's still more sincere than anything from "Duck Dynasty". At least, he can blame the aliens for it.

Thanks for sharing GT, I'm gonna have to add this to my list of things to watch for a laugh. 🙂 On the subject of it being offensive that believing Egyptians and Mayans were uncapable of producing the incredible structures, I think you'd like one of my favourite books by an English writer and grime artist (a random combination, I know) called Natives: Race and Class in the Ruins of the Empire by Akala. It's mainly about how race and class shaped his life and outlook in Britain (he was a poor black boy growing up in Camden) but it also talks about the Mayans and Sungbo's Eredo, and the reasons behind why so many people would rather put the impressive things they did down to aliens than give them the credit they deserve... A bit deep for a Friday, but definitely worth a read. 😊
