Guest K***an Report post Posted January 29, 2011 Just wanted to throw this out there.... One of the advantages of going to indy MPs is that they tend to be in private locations with clean facilities. Most of the bodyrubs in commercial units have dingy, dirty showers that you don't really care to use. In Toronto, licensed parlours must have a shower in every room. Does anyone know if the City of Ottawa ever considered this bylaw?
whiteman 14028 Report post Posted January 30, 2011 The City of Ottawa would rather that they all close down, why would they want to regulate aspects of it then?
Rodehard 2058 Report post Posted January 30, 2011 I really do not think that you can say that all commercial have dirty dingy units that you would not want to use. As an example the shower facilities at Paradise Spa are amazing, so are the facilities at ALO and many others. I would think that the majority if not all the commercial units in Ottawa have clean facilities. A lot of independents pride themselves on clean shower facilities, often they are part of their premises if they work from home and others who rent separate spaces are the same, keeping it clean keeps the clientele returning! I would think that the City of Ottawa will sooner or later come to its senses and realize that Massage Parlours are not going away and that they may as well work with them and develop a set of requirements that reflect health standards for licencing purposes and collect the money for the licences. Clean shower facilities in each room might be a good place to start! Rodehard
Guest K***an Report post Posted January 31, 2011 I never said that they all are dingy, I said most. These would be the ones with 3 or 4 rooms but only one dirty shower (in a converted broom closet). People know which ones I mean! I can say that I tried some places downtown but got turned off quickly. Never got to try the places further away from the downtown core because I found a great indy provider.
Megan'sTouch 23875 Report post Posted January 31, 2011 We shower there too! Why wouldn't we want to keep it clean? Personally, I'd like the city out of it. I don't need a third party telling me to clean the shower. I'm not 12 years old! Consenting adults behind closed doors can choose as they will, and of course you are all free not to frequent places that are dirty. It may be interesting to note that the cleanest places generally are not the places licensed by the city, and I'm not just talking independents. We don't need the city involved to be clean!
Rodehard 2058 Report post Posted January 31, 2011 I have been to some independant MP's that have not had very clean showers and this included some who were using their own living space to operate their business and they wondered why I never returned. I do agree with comments as far as keeping the City out of it, but sooner or later they will get more involved and you know that arrangements regarding washrooms and showers will come into play with the licencing requirements. And some of the cleanest places that I have experienced were not licenced and were run but as "business" and some were "independent" I would rather deal with an independent who is discrete and maintains a clean enviroment with a clean shower and fresh towels, thats important to me.
