Studio 110 by Sophia 150333 Report post Posted July 10, 2018 Hahaha yes is a messed up situation for adult life style in NB NS and PEI. There are many indy massage providers. Katherine to mention one. Here is a link to massage ads. http://www.lyla.com/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=336
DyatlovPass 1263 Report post Posted July 10, 2018 The lack of strip clubs is understandable, they're a dying breed and it's observable elsewhere. It's the absence of massage parlours that I don't get. Is there some kind of regulation or HRM by-law that prohibit them? Seems to me like there's a golden opportunity to open one in Halifax. All demand, no offer. If I had the contacts to staff the place, I would open one lol.

Studio 110 by Sophia 150333 Report post Posted July 10, 2018 Early 90's was Gentlemen massage parlor. Started in NB. It was run by the Manship's. Stupidly they ran an illegal and often underaged business. They had 3 places in NB and one in NS. It was when the son tooknover where things went south. The way zoning laws are made, if a buliding was always a stripclub ( as in the case of the North Star in Fredericton. Freddy CITY HALL DID NOT WANT IT so they bought it then burnt it down. If a city does not want that establishment in thier city the city simply buys it and once zoning is chaged.. Voila! It can now never be zoned for that purpose. Gentlemens massage parlor Moncton was huge! I worked there in 1998. And it was the year later they got busted. As far as I can see, city halls just wont allow adult spa to be commercial. Only private.
hornytoad13 1196 Report post Posted July 11, 2018 Yes, I recall a few "back in time" parlours all in Halifax. The Aristocrat Health Club on King St, Touch of Eden down on Granville St, I believe. The Gentleman's club that Sophia spoke of was called " Sugar and Spice" before the NB guys took over. Heck, even "Cousin Brucies" strip club down on Gottingen had a little massage and handjob operation going in the back of club back in the 70's. There was another in Dartmouth on Queen St ( can't recall the name ) The glory days are gone. Thatsa for sure.

And we cant forget about the gentleman's club just about under the MacDonald Bridge. It was around for a long time. Rumor has it the neighborhood banned together and bought it then flipped it. Anecdotal story a friend of mine lives in a place close to the commons in Halifax. The house had at one time been a brothel. And to this day she gets people knocking on her door a couple of times a year looking for service lol. She claims they are usually older foreign sailors. Apparently that house used to belong to the former big time Halifax Madam Ada McCallum. http://thechronicleherald.ca/opinion/1288420-ada-mccallum-the-people%E2%80%99s-madam

I still would like to know the name of the Queen St, Dartmouth one. Dr Love if you're out there. I thought you talked about it before. Additional Comments: I found it in one of his old posts---Park Avenue
Mikeyboy 27133 Report post Posted July 16, 2018 Interesting history. It was the Gentleman's Club on Windmill Rd downtown Dartmouth that introduced me to the hobby almost a decade ago. I finally got the nerve to give it a try very shortly before it closed down for good. I found this site while I was searching for other places like it. I couldn't find any, but I did discover the wonderful world of independent ladies. I have not heard of anything else like that since then and I suspect it has to do with how vigorously LE pursued those clubs back in the day. Oddly enough, Park Avenue was generally left alone by LE due to keeping a relatively low profile. They were only busted a couple of times in its almost 20 year history before they closed for good in 2008.
drlove 37204 Report post Posted August 13, 2018 Wasn’t there also an “Ada’s” location on Windmill Road in Dartmouth back in the 90’s? Back then the city was a lot more open in general.... pages upon pages of ads in the Yellow Pages! Lol

Lol Prior to the popularization of the internet the Yellow Pages was the go to source for any city I visited, that and if the city was big enough they'd have free adult nightlife newspapers distributed through boxes on the street. But every major hotel room had a yellow pages with the massage/adult services/escort section and the chinese food/pizza section looking tired and dog earred. Not every city placed the ads in the same section so often looking for the dog earred part of the yellow pages was the easiest way to find it.

I kinda miss the days of dialing up an escort service from the yellow pages and the interaction over the phone and then the excitement of waiting to actually see the lady for the first time lol I loved the suspense. I once was able to talk the receptionist from a local service into coming for a call with me. Her voice was so sexy. Still one of my all time fav encounters. She was beautiful. Who knows maybe was an escort and just working the lines that night as well, but I loved the experience anyways 🙂 I also dated a girl for a while who hid from me that she was a dancer at the Load of Mischief in Sackville. Its all came to tragic end when some friends of mine went there one night after having met her with me earlier in the day. She went silent after that. I really would have had no problem with it, in fact I think it would have been hot... I wonder sometimes where she is now...
