Capital Hunter 18263 Report post Posted March 3, 2011 Hi Kubrickfan: It was club's regulations. My preference is of course to see in flesh and blood and chat and then walk to CR for private contact dancing but at that bar at that time, the girls were all from asia speaking little or no English and if I remember correctly the strip bar laws were quite different then (dancers could not sit and linger with customers). I can't speak for mod but I think we both gave examples of strip bars close to the system that Devine and LJCC were proposing (except that their idea is for the girl herself to walk around and customer ask the bouncer for the girl that he sees in flesh rather than polaroid). I was saying that something similar to that system existed in the past (since Devine and LJCC both indicated that such system will likely never happen) and may be it would be possible that such system could be introduced in the future too. The $5 was going very far though (each song lasting long time). Even though it was no contact table dances but the lap dance was very close and exotic. I have very good memories of that club which I thought I share :-).

Megan'sTouch 23875 Report post Posted March 3, 2011 It's an interesting idea for the guys to choose the lady, but fact is, strip club business would be way down. When I think about all the men I danced for, I'd say 50% were planning on buying dances and only 5-10% were planning on buying dances specifically from me. Let's talk about the 50% who were not planning on buying dances. I sat down with them, seduced them, and dramatically changed their minds and off to the ATM they go. This, IMO, is why strip clubs and dancers are successful. The seduction of dances you weren't planning on getting.
rick_falcon 911 Report post Posted March 3, 2011 It's true that in a SC, it can be a bot annoying to be almost harassed every 5 minutes by the ladies. They are there to make money so it's understandable. And yes, it can be hard to say no and some are persistent. A friend of mine had a trick: you bring 2 wallets. One of them has your spending money but the other one is empty. If a lady is too persistent, you just show her the empty one and say: 'sorry but no cash'. Usually, they will leave to see someone else.
PistolPete 61421 Report post Posted March 3, 2011 I understand that the ATM within clubs carry a hefty surcharge, is that correct? I remember a buddy told me he was charged like 5 bucks?? to get money out the ATM and off to the ATM they go. This' date=' IMO, is why strip clubs and dancers are successful. Capital Hunter 18263 Report post Posted March 3, 2011 I think in some clubs it is (was) $10 charge to get any amount of money out!!!!!.
PistolPete 61421 Report post Posted March 3, 2011 Okay that is just wrong! I guess its like going to the casino for me, if I have the 100 bucks, I spend it, I'm out of there. 10 bucks what a shame, what a rip off. I think in some clubs it is (was) $10 charge to get any amount of money out!!!!!.

I guess its like going to the casino for me, if I have the 100 bucks, I spend it, I'm out of there. 10 bucks what a shame, what a rip off. I agree. I remember about 5-6 years ago, there was a new strip bar just above Taboo (closed now, I think). I wanted to have a dance with a specific girl all night and she was busy. Eventually she came to me late at night when I had already spent all my cash on other girls. So, I ran to the ATM in the bar and asked the girl to wait for me. When I enter my pin, I was asked if I accept the $10 charge!!!. I thought too that it was a rip off. So, I declined (and I went back to see that girl a week after, this time with enough cash). For Playmates, the bank of Nova Scotia branch is nearby (and if you don't have an account with them they only charge a dollar and half, I think otherwise it is free). So, whenever I am out of cash in that club, I go there to get more cash.
Mister T 45020 Report post Posted March 3, 2011 I understand that the ATM within clubs carry a hefty surcharge, is that correct? I remember a buddy told me he was charged like 5 bucks?? to get money out the ATM Pigale is 3$, the Taboo one is 5% of your withdrawal amount (i think) of what you need. So carrying a set amount, saying thanks but no thanks (spending wisely), or leaving are the better options.
Guest W***ledi*Time Report post Posted March 3, 2011 Anyone ever go to the fairbanks Hotel in Toronto? .... About 10 years ago. I arrived in the middle of the afternoon; the place appeared utterly deserted except for this huge waiter. I allowed myself to be ushered to a table, and the "menu" was laid before me. Ha ha ... alarm bells started clanging in my head - strip clubs weren't run like this, as far as I knew! My brain was working feverishly to figure out what the deal was - surely not an open brothel?! Or some sort of a sting??! I sat paralyzed over the book of photos, this huge guy looming over my shoulder. Either he didn't speak English, or he was yanking my chain, because he was no help at all in explaining what the procedure was. Eventually I gulped, prayed, pointed, and awaited my doom. Presently the lady appeared, and ... okay, everything returned to normal. Whew. The initial stress left both my brains incurably limp for the duration, though. The General 11309 Report post Posted March 3, 2011 Never a great idea to use the ATMs at SCs. My recollection is that some of them charge a percentage of the money withdrawn, up to a certain limit, maybe $10. Can't remember precisely and really don't want to, it is a good reason why to bring cash.

My point to this was you were NEVER solicited at the table by ladies so you never had to tell ONE girl no and another yes. They all came out and did stage shows so you could sit back have a drink and when someone came of stage you could call the dude with the book over and ask him to bring that lady over. Now.. .why they do this.... I suspect that most do not speak english well and conversation is not a strong selling point but I suspect the HOUSE made money off each dance and this was a way to MONITOR this. Guest W***ledi*Time Report post Posted March 3, 2011 ... They all came out and did stage shows so you could sit back have a drink and when someone came of stage you could call the dude with the book over and ask him to bring that lady over.... ha ha ... thanks, now I know what the procedure should have been. I was there in the afternoon when there wasn't much business. The entire time I was there, there was never a stage show. The only ladies who ever appeared were the ones who arrived for a specific customer - after having been ordered from the picture-book for a lap-dance. If I were a dancer, I imagine that I would likely prefer to be able to "sell" myself to customers through my in-the-flesh stage performance, rather than relying solely on a single polaroid to advertise my otherwise-hidden back-room existence. I tried to sit back and have a drink, but with no stage shows, the only thing to look at in this case turned out to be the huge guy staring at me impatiently, ha ha. I never felt relaxed. I was clearly in this particular place when business was just too slow. Yep, I definitely understand the general point about using some sort of a designated go-between betwixt customer and dancer. Despite its impersonality, it does mean never having to personally reject a dancer's approach, and a dancer never "losing face" by being personally refused. jost 149 Report post Posted March 5, 2011 that club in Montreal with the booking system was called something like "Club 888" (that was the address on St Catherine)....it was owned by the same people who own the Fairbanks in TO...BTW the Fairbanks today has branched out and now has East European (mostly Hungarians) and Latina dancers in addition to Asians...I've been there and it's not too bad tho I prefer to be able to chat up the dancers on the floor..I'll admit tho that for those who really hate the high-pressure hustle environment of stripclubs, it's a good alternative..
BarrhavenWoody 10776 Report post Posted March 5, 2011 I've been to a couple of clubs (one in Toronto and one in Ottawa) where the ATM fee was 10% with no maximum!!! Withdrawing $400 cost $40 in fees. What a huge ripoff. That's money that could have gotten me 2 more lap dances. Always best to take what you need and avoid the ATMs in the clubs.
