qwertyaccount 15793 Report post Posted March 2, 2011 Video: http://amfix.blogs.cnn.com/2011/03/02/is-facebook-fueling-prostitution/ A new study from Columbia University's Sociology Department reports that prostitutes find 25% of their clients through Facebook. The social network known for reconnecting with old friends is now the second leading source of prostitution clients behind escort services, which provide 31% of clients (Craigslist provides 3% of prostitutes' clients). So, does Facebook have any responsibility in stopping the use of the site for such purposes? Sunny Hostin, Legal Analyst and Legal Analyst for "In Session" on truTV, discusses the connection between Facebook and prostitution with Kiran Chetry and Ali Velshi. Cleo Catra 178382 Report post Posted March 2, 2011 WOW. I cannot understand why someone would solicit through facebook.... so, so strange to me. Do they have accounts with their escort names, or real names, and how the heck do they find clients that way? So not something I'd be comfortable with! Do they have accounts with their escort names, or real names, and how the heck do they find clients that way? So not something I'd be comfortable with! I saw that and find it hard to believe. The complete lack of privacy and cross-pollination of friends, family, work and prostitutes just doesn't make sense for ANYONE.
JessicaMassage 16917 Report post Posted March 3, 2011 Just for fun, I had a Facebook account under "Jessica Masseuse" for a couple of months before it got deleted. I used a suggestive picture without any nudity for my profile and found that I was getting contacted by people who were interested in massage. I never really meet anyone from FB and most sending me messages were from out of ottawa. I believe that moderation of Facebook is done on a complaint basis and I'm surprised that this story made it to CNN. Is it worth opening another account ? I don't think so. Guest o*****24 Report post Posted March 3, 2011 It seems like a very lazy way to search if you ask me. Also a very very easy way to get caught by a GF, wife, or whatever. I think I'll stick to the beautiful ladies here thanks.

Do they have accounts with their escort names, or real names, and how the heck do they find clients that way? So not something I'd be comfortable with! I completely understand. I would not make myself friend in public on facebook with a girl advertised as an escort or masseuse. It is something in my life I'd rather keep private. Do they have accounts with their escort names, or real names, and how the heck do they find clients that way? So not something I'd be comfortable with! Yeah... I feel the exact same way =S. There would be way too much overlap between my work life and private life on Facebook. I think the study might be bogus though... I wonder what kind of methodology they used?
