Sweet Emily J 172062 Report post Posted March 9, 2020 (edited) We are excited to announce our next OIC Social & Fundraiser is happening Friday April 17, 2020! It's a casual social event for OIC members & clients to get together and mingle, and to raise money for The OIC Emergency Fund. Tickets for the event are based on a Pay-What-You-Can model (PWYC), from $80-$250. All profits from the social will benefit The OIC Emergency Fund. This Fund supports members experiencing immediate financial hardship (food, shelter, medication, etc), and is our way of bolstering vulnerably members of our collective. Sex work is a tough business and some people just need a bit of extra support now and then, especially those who don't have anywhere else to turn. The Social/Fundraiser will be held at an upscale, fully private residential location in Westboro that is reserved just for us. We will have a cash bar for guests to buy drinks, and Capital Tease Burlesque will be performing up close and personal, throughout the evening. Our Socials are always wonderful events with a friendly, casual atmosphere. This is our 5th such event, and every one is better than the last! Come on out to meet many of our beautiful members in one fantastic evening and help support a great cause! 💜 Edited March 9, 2020 by Sweet Emily J
waterat 20911 Report post Posted March 16, 2020 I made a donation to support this orgainization yesterday for their now cancelled/postponed event. I was intending to attend and have always supported and admired OIC. I think their decision was a responsible one yet the current situation in the world will have a significant negative impact on SW's and they're the least likely to be able to access any government support. This situation will likely put more ladies (et al.) in need of their emergency fund. I encourage everyone to consider providing support to this organization..... and then do it! It is sad that this awesome board is trending towards demise but I'm reaching out to what was the most active city on Lyla, and others, to support our deserving providers. :) cheers, waterat p.s. the current circumstance underlines why it is important, for many reasons, that SW be decriminalized and destigmatized: we can't expect significant progress with a minority government but we can let candidates know that your support is conditional on progress and changes in this area of the law. No need to identify your reasons beyond the very sad death of the young SW near Quebec (though that may help for those willing!).
Sweet Emily J 172062 Report post Posted March 19, 2020 Thanks waterat! Indeed we made the difficult decision to cancel our Social. Since the social was intended to be a fundraiser, we are still trying to continue to raise money for The OIC Emergency Fund. Covid-19 is hitting the sex work industry hard. It's only going to get worse from here and we don't know how long this is going to last, most are now saying it will be many months. We are on our own. If it's within your means, please support your favourite workers and donate to our Emergency Fund. There are several ways to donate: -e-Transfer & PayPal: [email protected] (e-Transfer password oicompanions) -Pay discreetly with a credit card & Google Pay on our Shopify page: https://oicompanions.myshopify.com/collections/frontpage/products/donation-to-the-oic-emergency-fund 1
Sweet Emily J 172062 Report post Posted April 1, 2020 (edited) The OIC Social was a fundraiser for our Emergency Fund, so we are still collecting donations if anyone has the means. This will be a tough time for many people, including some of our most vulnerable members, so help from the community is essential. Thank you! 💜 Learn how to donate here: https://ottawa-independentcompanions.com/support-oic-ottawa-escorts Stay safe, stay home, and always practice social distancing! 💜 Edited April 1, 2020 by Sweet Emily J
