Imagine if Google reviews were positive only!! You can't compare google reviews of products to reviews of living, breathing human beings. Explicit or negative reviews of Providers are dehumanising. They are incredibly personal, can be written as a means to attack/out someone and are often full of misogynistic language. That is a big reason why many ask to be on the DND list, because seeing explicit reviews on someone's personality, body etc. on a public website, with other people jumping in to discuss you, can be horrific to read. All the “reviews” were only from a group of certain establishments. So it’s ok for an owner to masquerade as a customer to shill their own business. They call it a "recommendation board" and not a review board. In other words, you're only supposed to post positive recommendations and not post any negative experiences. I was fortunate to have made it here before the DND list became so broad and have benefited from the information that has been shared in the past. Also been reprimanded for mentioning some names that I was not aware were on the DND list (my ignorance there I guess, no excuse) with pretty much no other context than that I had seen them. I'd be up to see something new somewhere for discreetly sharing info but other than here and the other board where so many seem to not understand the level of discretion needed haven't seen anything of value.
