Monstermash 583 Report post Posted February 28, 2022 Used to really enjoy cruising around the bigger cities checking out the streetwalkers in Tor and Ottawa. Not so much in Kingston. Wonder if this will ever return?
Guest Report post Posted February 28, 2022 (edited) Other than the exploitative aspects of the trade, it remains one of the most illegal form. Reason why promotion is illegal: 2. NO PROMOTION OF STREET WALKING OR CAR CALLS As mentioned in point 1, we do allow promotion of escort services but any mention of street walking or car calls will result in a warning. Some are still present in Ottawa/Vanier if drive early enough in the morning. But with cameras monitoring most businesses and sidewalks, I doubt a resurgence is in the near future. The few who remain are more fueled by desperation than nostalgia. Edited February 28, 2022 by Guest
Evie Rosewood 527 Report post Posted February 28, 2022 Why would you wish for more women to be in such a vulnerable position that they have to walk the blade? How vile and disturbing tbh. 5
Greenly 791 Report post Posted February 28, 2022 If I am not mistaken, in some provinces the police can seize and sell your vehicle if you are caught and convicted of trying to pick up a streetwalker. Not worth the risk, in my opinion.
Monstermash 583 Report post Posted March 8, 2022 Really meant no harm with this post. Those of us over 50 had no other options in the 80’s. Before the online world was born we had a few ads in the classified or we cruised the tracks.

But can say with certainty for Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City and Toronto how easy it was to find agency ads in newspapers and the Yellow Pages in the 80's and 90's. Finding indies in that period was trickier as organized groups of "honest businessmen" would control classified pages. The few would advertise other services like massages. In that period, solicitation on the street was the easiest way to get busted. While calling someone from an hotel/motel or home was perfectly legal. I guess I'm lucky that the first time I ventured, there was a review board I was able to go to... crap, I was so scared, lol. I'm lucky that the lady was really nice and sort of walked me through it. I just sort of said "I have no idea what I'm doing." I did have one experience earlier in my early 20s... I was driving a big well-lit street in a big US city (minding my own business... just enjoying the night summer air with the top down) in my first sports car, and two women my age pulled up in their car and offered to help me spend some time. I followed them to a dark parking lot, and they wanted me to follow into a building. It was right on the border of a rough and an affluent neighborhood... I chickened out, and apologized and drove off... I still feel that was the safer option given the nightly violent crimes close to where I was... always sort of wondered what would have happened but still okay with having made the safer choice... I prefer the current number of holes in my head 🙂. -cbs. Safety first for sure.

Really not much in KTOWN before the internet although we did have 4 mens clubs as late as 97.
