michellecaviar 271 Report post Posted July 21, 2022 Why Leo list raised the priced again ? For what ? Theres no improvement no new features no update on the old outdated site .. I don't get it. Once day some new site will rises cheaper n better we will all move there. .. No justification on price. €3.29 per bump ? $4.31 CAD. almost $5 bucks to bump ur ad. Ridiculous. 1
East Coast Kimmy 1080 Report post Posted July 22, 2022 I remember backpage (before the end of times) having “reposts” cost around $10 CAD in Ontario and around the same cost for Alberta. Some places of BC cost $12+ per “repost” Leolist has now added bots (the fake ads that are completely generated by them and the “sponsored ads” from other websites) These bot ads usually push us to post a bit mode frequently than we would, & the price hike goes hand in hand with that (IMO) Just their business model, I guess. 3

MissArtois 102 Report post Posted August 3, 2022 So I noticed in their recent blog Leolist tried to make the narrative (paraphrasing) "we are only accepting Litecoin now because we believe it's a truly free currency blah blah"...I call BS on that! I suspect Visa and Mastercard revoked their right to process payments through them...why would they willingly limit their methods to take payments especially when they slapped on a ~$2 fee every time to add less than $75 in a sitting? It's an absolute money hungry cesspool, they don't care about their well-intentioned users because they know scam ads push our ads down the list further forcing us to keep paying and paying. Just yesterday they made a LTC conversion error in the users' favour (I was given about $30 credit for $12 spend) I thought "huh, maybe it works out sometimes"...today they tried to put my balance into the negative! I emailed them and they reversed that decision, but they still took the extra credit out of my account which is unfair when it's their mistake and they make money hand over fist regardless. Sorry for the longass rant, but I hope and think more people are seeing the light about what trash LL is now. I definitely let as many clients as I can know. There are alternatives, I just think more people need to be made aware of them. 🤔 1
Lightlord 8 Report post Posted August 4, 2022 Do you mean for escorts to post? Or the providers?
MissArtois 102 Report post Posted August 4, 2022 Escorts and providers are interchangeable terms unless you mean something that I'm not picking up on. (Providers covers FSBM and Dom/Fetish providers too I guess) When Backpage went under, Leolist was only 25c to post, and there was a free bump for each ad per day. Now obviously had to change, with increased traffic and that's fair of course! But before covid they were rapidly increasing their prices and adding all these little nickel and dime upgrades, to where the cost of a basic ad already matched what Backpage charged- but now if you didn't pay for the upgrades your ad got noticeably fewer clicks. They hit pause on *most* of the price increases during the worst part of the pandemic, but as soon as things opened back up last year they jacked them up again and completely abandoned any pretense of moderating ads based on their own rules, which is why in a addition to flood of stolen pics there's so many butthole/vagina/cumshot thumbnails too, real classy place 😒. They just really DGAF. The MINIMUM they could do, even if their prices stayed high, would be to require every poster to verify the way Tryst, Vipfavours and a few others do. It wouldn't completely eliminate scams but it would drastically cut down on them. (Seriously if you take the time to reverse image search the thumbnail of nearly any unverified ad, 9/10 times it will come back as stolen from Twitter, OF or porn) But they won't because while they're still the big fish, they still make bank and don't have to do more than the bare minimum work. 😪 2

Thanks. To play devil's advocate, when using a free or relatively low cost ressource, one has to expect more ads and potential abuse. No matter the website or platform, users should do some research before blindly communicating with someone. Under no circumstances, I'll call LL perfect. But, they're definitely not the worst in term of misleading content and questionable business practices. In my opinion, sugar daddies/arrangement websites are far worst with high subscription prices for a database shared by multiple websites owned by the same company. And made worst with clickbait ads and spam messages to bait you into subscribing to read BS content. LL has a responsibility toward their clients. But users also need to educate themselves and stop paying/enabling fraudulent/misleading ads. Until people wise up, the problem won't stop.

Agreed that there are many websites that are 100% scams, whose only goal is to get email or other contact data to spam with dangerous links. Whereas LL may have 15-25% real ads (in Thunder Bay). Checked out Locanto tonight and found examples of both but the duplicates SP's on both sites writing new pitches sounds more legit after all. In which case, Thunder Bay may have 20+ real and touring actually working right now.

If Thunder Bay and other regions have a larger ratio of fake ads, it's simply because few providers serve and visit those areas. The idea of LL being directly responsible for this is ridiculous. On top of processing hundreds of thousands of new ads on a daily basis, they are facing scrutiny from all sides with the knowledge any major misstep will likely shut them down. They became the top advertisement website in only 5 years. Were created in 2013. In 2014 C-36 became law forcing major changes in advertisement rules. And in the following years CL abandoned adult services and Backpage was shut down. This gave a clear path for LL. But while being good for business, this came with a lot of pressure from law enforcement and advocacy groups. There obviously room for improvement. For example, COVID opened the demand for online services creating a loophole by allowing advertisement in multiple cities at the same time. A lot can be done. But the larger the business/website, the more expensive and harder those changes are to make. Not saying there nothing potentially shady in the way they do business. But considering they've been operating under a microscope since Backpage was shut down by the FBI, I don't quite see the incentive of creating more problems for themselves. Haha, I like the term para-sites, cuz that's definitely exactly what they're behaving like 😂 They're more commonly known as "scraper" sites- they have bots that are able to comb ads for specific information (commonly phone #s), and they repost your ad as though you posted it there in the first place. My hunch is they do this to make it appear their website has many more users than it does, and then with that they sell advertising space. (To porn sites, AdultFriendFinder, etc) It's possible to request they be taken down- scraper sites are all shitty, but the slightly-less-shitty ones will have a Removal Request form and it's down in a day or two, or you can flag the ad itself. This may or may not be helpful, but one way I get around my L̶o̶s̶e̶r̶l̶i̶s̶t̶ Leolist ad being copied is Ieave the phone # section empty, and in my ad text I'll partially enter my ph# as words (ie 22six 2one0 etc...) and then it can't pick it up.
