Andee 220524 Report post Posted June 22, 2011 My first car was a 1974 Ford Mustang when I was 18. It was a little four cylinder. I ended up crashing it four months after I had it, when I had a tire blow. I was pretty upset about that. My favourite car was my 1989 Grand Am which ended up in the junk yard because a head gasket blew resulting in damage to the engine block. I loved that car so much I bought another used one just like it a few years later which lasted me until the body fell apart. My worst car: That would be a toss between a Ford Escort and a Delta 88 I drove around for awhile - both fraught with constant problems.
Megan'sTouch 23875 Report post Posted June 22, 2011 I still don't have a first car and I'm 26. I prefer walking & biking. I made a promise years ago that I would forgo a car until I have children, and so far I've kept that promise to myself! I've been cycling for transportation, sometimes 25km each way, since I was 18 and it helps keep me in good shape. In the downtown area, cycling is just as fast as driving a car. Guest tr*****e Report post Posted June 22, 2011 I've only owned three cars. First was a '91 Suzuki Swift sedan. At least I learned 'how to drive stick!' Anyway, I totalled that on the back bumper of a pickup. My next car was a '95 Mazda MX-3 Precidia. Really nice car, too, but it started having lots of problems after I left it in storage for a year. Definitely not a car I'll buy again. Finally comes my '99 Ford Escort(cue the jokes about driving an escort!'). Great car, some problems, but easy to buzz around in. Guest K****r De**xe Report post Posted June 22, 2011 My first car was a volkwagen beetle which was great on gas but not much room for make out sessions in the back seat.Invented some new positions because of it. xxxx
Jake_1957 1301 Report post Posted June 22, 2011 Got my first car when I was 16, it was a 1965 white Plymouth Valiant, wrapped it around a telephone post taking a curve too fast in the rain. Telephone post won. Favorite car was definetly my black 1977 Pontiac Trans AM, 400 4 barrel, bought it new when I was 21 and had it for 8 years. Only problem I had with it was getting too many speeding tickets. LOL. Worst car, for problems was probably my 2nd car, a used 1972 red Ford Mustang, In the 2 years I had it, it basically rusted before my eyes. Bottom of the driver door was flapping in the wind. Believe they made these cars from used steel
volvolater 657 Report post Posted June 22, 2011 My first car was my Mom's old hand me down late sixties Ford Galaxie 500. I only had it for a few months, as the repairs required to keep it safely on the road were going to cost way more than the car was worth. I decided to sell it for whatever offer I could get for it and a few nights before selling it, my fiance and I took a few couples and the car out for one last tribute.............to one of the only remaining drive-ins in the area! The car got a great send-off, I don't remember what was playing lol! Worst car was the first year of the Volkswagen Passat. That one was constantly back at the dealer for all kinds of warranty repair and they could never quite figure out all the problems. Lesson learned, never by the first year of a new model. And my favourite car(s)?? Well, even though I don't drive one anymore..........duh, check out my handle!!

NotchJohnson 214123 Report post Posted June 22, 2011 My first car was a 91 GMC pickup truck single cab, but before that I was driving my dad's company vehicle(all of them were Fords) and you could find me on many side roads at night parked doing what kids my age were doing. Second car was a 89 cutlass supreme 2 door with low mileage but I gave it some good use in the back seat. My next car was a 98 Grand Prix 4 doors, followed by a 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck which I still own. My most recent and best car so far is a 2009 Cadillac CTS4 with the 3.6L Direct Injection fully loaded. This car as got power like you would not believe with 304 hp and a dual transmission(automatic and manual).

Guest s******ecan**** Report post Posted June 22, 2011 My first car was a Pontiac Fiero, nifty but not very practical and very underpowered. I also had a Grand Am (88 or 89?) and liked it a lot....it was a standard if you can believe that never knew of anyone else who had one. I once owned a '94 Prelude SRV very nice car, it was loaded and could move. Very fun. I have to admit I've lost interest in cars and now have other priorities for my $$ and tend to buy used Honda/Toyota's every 4-5 years. Growing up I was fortunate to drive Audi's BMW's and even a pair of Jaguars (XJ-6 the coolest car I ever drove, and a 12 cylinder XJ-S) courtesy of my dad who positively had a car addiction. Driving those cars took some of their mystique away and I never felt the need to own one (been there done that). Still you never know, I really like the Miata but in this era of full size SUV and Dodge Ram I'm not sure I'd ever feel completely comfortable driving one. MiaBella 10988 Report post Posted June 22, 2011 My first and only car was a '94 Fleetwood Cadillac. I got it for my Sweet 16 when I lived in the states. It was a Boat. Beige/Gold with a rag top and since I was living in the South(Kentucky) my male friends did lots of customizing on it like a system, tinted windows, and rims. I must have run over every stop sign in my neighborhood, but there wasn't a scratch on it lol. I Loved the car. I wish I still had it!:icon_frown:
Guest **cely***r***ne Report post Posted June 22, 2011 My first and worst (my only) car was a 1983 Mercury Marquis hahaha You could hear me coming for miles :D I loved the rumble noise! Winnipegcub 21293 Report post Posted June 22, 2011 (edited) My first and probably best car was a 1974 Dodge Charger SE. Fully loaded with a 400 engine and 4 Brl Carb. I had this in the early 80s. Man it went fast and sucked gas. Was also a time when I was young, working construction, great physical shape and more $ than brains. Great memories all around. roamingguy 300292 Report post Posted June 22, 2011 My first car, a pos VW Rabbit Turbo Diesel...this isn't my car, but looked something like this Needed the engine completely replaced less than two years after buying it. Mine didn't look so geeky as this one, bought aftermarket front spoiler, mock hood intake cover, rear spoiler, and some other things. And besides the engine needing replacing, diesels back then were crap, hated the winter RG
VedaSloan 119179 Report post Posted June 23, 2011 I've never owned a car, but when I still lived at home, I drove an old 1987 GM van in beige. My mom put in a stereo and I drove that thing until the muffler died and you could hear me coming from three blocks away. I called it The Beast. Other than that, I don't plan on owning a car. I get around by bus/foot and that's fine by me.

rick_falcon 911 Report post Posted June 23, 2011 My First car My first car was a 1991 Grand Prix. So many problems with that car, it wasn't even funny. Although one thing that was funny is that the gas tank was leaking and also, my gas gauge was not working anymore; so it was a bit hard to determine if there was gas in the tank, without making it overleak. My Best car I'd have to say my 2000 Cavalier. Very reliable, not a problem with that car. Did 200,000km in 5 years without a hitch. My Worst car The Grand Prix mentioned above was bad but I have to say that my current car is the worst I owned. It's a 2003 Pontiac G3 Wave, that I bought new with a very good price, when Pontiac was discontinuing and the auto industry was on tough times. It runs well, very well, but it is the cheapest-made car I've ever seen. I had a little accident with it and the damage on it was unbelievable because it's so fragile; it's made of paper-mache. If I ever have a REAL accident with it, I'll be dead for sure.
Jabba 18389 Report post Posted June 23, 2011 1st car was a Fiat spyder. Love convertibles, but jeez, I needed to spend mucho cash on repairs every few months. Finally sold it to a guy who lived down the street. He had to push it home. Last time I remember seeing it, it was parked in his yard (it never did get back on the road again). Most hated car - 1982 Pontiac Phoenix hatchback. Frigging thing tried to kill me several times and in different ways. Automatic choke broke & flooded the exhaust system with gas. Blew the crap out of the catalytic converter - brief moment of pleasant revenge. Minor atom bomb explosion. Mechanic explained that I was lucky the car didn't catch on fire. Favourite car - Toyota celica gts. The thing just hummed on the highway & was fun as hell to boot around town.

JoyfulC 132299 Report post Posted July 3, 2011 My first and most favourite car was a '66 Chevy Impala Supersport (2-door fastback). It belonged to my father before me, and together we'd lovingly maintained it over the years. When it came time for me to get a car, he asked me what I wanted. There was no question: I wanted that Chevy. He loved it too, and wasn't happy about giving it up -- but a deal's a deal. About a year later when I had to phone him to come get us after a bad accident, it was probably one of the few times I saw him with years in his eyes. It was the day of a UofM/Ohio State football game, and the traffic was heavy through construction. A car ahead of me hit a barrel which hit another car ahead of me and rolled up over it to slam into my windshield. I could see nothing ahead of me, but traffic was on my bumper behind me, there was a semi to the right of me, and all he'll was breaking loose. At some point, I got bumped off the road (at least a drop of 9 inches), hit a couple more barrels, and hit a piece of rebar which split my chrome bumper. Yeesh. Construction workers verified my version of events, so I didn't take a huge insurance hit. And believe it or not we were able to rebuild the Chevy. A few years later when the frame gave out, we even found a new body and rebuilt it a second time. That was a great car. But it was light in the ass end. Some ballast in the trunk helped with the fish-tailing. I can't say what my worst car was. I love all cars, but keep them in perspective. I even owned Renault 5- era and Yugos -- not usually thought of as great cars. But for what they were supposed to be, they were great. If I had to name a worst car, might be an AMC Gremlin -- built back in the heyday of planned obsolescence. The combination windshield washer and shoe shine feature was interesting. Old Dog 179138 Report post Posted July 3, 2011 Ohhhh... my fave? My 2002 Mercedes E320. Loved that car. Fully loaded. Butter soft leather seats. Zero to a bajillion in about 2 seconds. Problem? The ride was so smooth that the speedometer constantly read in the 160-180 kmph range when it should have been at 100. Worst Car?? The 1998 Mercury Mistake. Turned a corner. Car would not sputter and die... it would silently die. Oh how I despised that car. Oh and BTW... at $995 you would still feel like you overpaid. First Car? Dad's 1978 Pontiac Phoenix. It's was a cross between the Starsky and Hutch mobile and Huggy Bear's pimpmobile. It drove like shit, but at 17, I was happy.
