cory 100 Report post Posted July 19, 2011 This phone Scamming claims, are completely bizarre. Yes i agree that Mr. Murdoch is liable as owner of this company However the Employees responsible should be interrogated not Mr. Murdoch. This man has been in been business for many years and I want to know what you think? Now when thinking about this situation Mr. Murdoch has only found out about this Scamming 8 Weeks ago, He is very professional and unclear about most evidence presented to him. I believe he should not be in this kind of position, He should be held Responsible However I feel they should lay off him a little. Tell me What you Think? twoblues 258 Report post Posted July 19, 2011 Everyone is eager to do a witch hunt with Murdoch as the witch. It was mentioned today that News of the World represented less than 1% of his businesses.
Phaedrus 209521 Report post Posted July 21, 2011 It was mentioned today that News of the World represented less than 1% of his businesses. That's applicable to Rupert Murdoch, not James. NotW would have been a much larger chunk of James' responsibilities. The fundamental questions here are: to what extent is it justified to expect senior executives to know what's going on in their company, especially when it's illegal? And did they know? And if they didn't, was this because they made a point of not doing so?
Guest s******ecan**** Report post Posted July 21, 2011 More than phone hacking is at the centre of this. Included is an unfolding likelyhood that Scotland yard police officers were bribed to whitewash their first investigation last year. As well large $ payments were paid out in "hush money" to some of the phone hacking victims in out of court settlements. The implication is that the payments required for the "hush money" were large enough to have required Murdoch ( famous for micro management) to sign off on them, which means he knew about this long ago. The Murdoch media empire has engaged in some of the most reprehensible and scurrilous activities over the years. Now they have been caught red handed in illegal activity, the latest issues are likely just the tip of the iceberg. BTW Rubert Murdoch is the old man who is the real villan here James Murdoch is his son really not much more than a somewhat imbecilic flunkie.
Lowdark 5613 Report post Posted July 21, 2011 Isn't it fascintaing how when something someone owns does really well they're the first in line to accept the credit but when it hits the fan they were ignorant of the day to day business? If News of the Owrld had won a Pulitzer, Murdoch would have been first in line for the photo. But now that his chickens are coming home to roost? He claims he was ignorant of everything. His property. His responsibility. His mess. The one thing this scandal is really highlighting is that for years, Murdoch used his media properties to not only shape national dialogues in the world's most powerful countries to express his own agenda, but he also used them and the support they garnered to coerce and blackmail and terrorize elected officials into doing what he wanted. this whole thing is of his own design (this wrong for media on both the left AND the right-looking at you too, CBC). And as for his biggest American property, Fox News, who always answers criticism of their far right agenda that they take a "fair and balanced" approach, they seem to be completely oblivious to this whole story. Funny how that worked out too.
