jafo105 39057 Report post Posted July 31, 2011 I have read articles and listened to news discussions that there has never peen a poll to determine how many SP's are working in the different types of service. I know this poll will be limited to just members of Cerb, and is not a true reflection of the entire industry / Country.

Guest E*******h S******s Report post Posted July 31, 2011 My understanding (and I could be wrong) is that a public sex worker is a street prostitute. As for Escort and Courtesan, I have noticed that some of the ladies identify themselves as one or the other. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are not trying to cause offense in any way. However, IMO you aren't going to find any street prostitutes on this board. With respect to "escorts" and "courtesans", they are both euphemisms for "Service Provider". I take no offence to your questions or comments. I am relatively new to being a Hobbyist. (Less than a year). My knowledge of this industry is quite limited. Everyday I learn something new here on Cerb. I know that I probably won't find anyone for street prostitutes. Perhaps I should have just used Service Provider instead of Courtesan and Escort. Megan'sTouch 23875 Report post Posted July 31, 2011 However, IMO you aren't going to find any street prostitutes on this board. This is not true. There are ladies here who do both, but for obvious reasons they tend to not publicize the fact that they may also work the streets.

fortunateone 156618 Report post Posted July 31, 2011 Maybe either close the thread and start a new one after you have a chance to select some more accurate terminology? Not sure what to say. I do know that out east, unlike out west, there is a distinction between massage providers (i.e. non-fs all the time) and service providers (i.e. FS available, and massage sessions may or may not be), where as in the west, it is assumed that a massage parlour attendant offers a full range of services, hj, bj, and fs, and the fs may or may not be gfe fs in a massage parlour. So your categories may be more accurate to differentiate between a FS provider, a non-FS provider, and I am thinking also the majority of sp members here are indy, so you can't really ask are they in an mp or private since the default for being a member is usually private. So maybe you just want to ask; MP, SP, client Male, client Female and leave it at that? Also, there are dommes who don't provide massage sessions or FS, but in the eyes of the law, are still sex workers.

jafo105 39057 Report post Posted July 31, 2011 There are also women who work in the porn industry but who do not also work as service providers. Thank you Samantha, I will include that in the new poll. Additional Comments: I have received several messages that this poll does not reflect all of the industry in Canada. So I have decided to close this poll. I have sent MOD a request to have it closed or deleted at his discretion. Thank you to all those who have participated and/or contributed to this poll. SamanthaEvans 166766 Report post Posted August 1, 2011 I was totally not aware of this. It comes as a surprise to me!!!!. Street prostitution is illegal and CERB's policies prohibit publicizing anything s illegal activities except for companions who do incalls. CERB and law enforcement authorities in general recognize that incall operations are much safer for women, which is why it's rare for a companion to be prosecuted if she's working quietly, causing no disturbances and attracting no attention to herself. CERB and law enforcement authorities in general recognize that incall operations are much safer for women, which is why it's rare for a companion to be prosecuted if she's working quietly, causing no disturbances and attracting no attention to herself. If I may correct your statement, as we speak with current laws any type of prostitution, including street prostitution is NOT illegal (prostitution in Canada generally of any type is legal) however, it is solicitation in public which is illegal so that is what makes picking SWs on the street or any public place illegal or street work for ladies illegal too, if they solicitate in the public place. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prostitution_in_Canada No what surprised me was that we all know street work is dangerous (No I wasn't surprise because I thought it was illegal) so why cerb ladies who can meet classy cerbites in relatively safer cleaner indoor environments would choose to work on the streets!!!!!. Anyways I recognize that it is a choice, their choice and none of my business. I am just concerned about their safety lol especially if I have met them or communicated with them on cerb. Guest S**a*Q Report post Posted August 1, 2011 The poll is kinda skewed from the get-go considering the fact that you were looking to see what % of SPs make up certain areas but you added hobbiests to the split. That's would change the % and have nothing to do with the main question/poll. Just wanted to note that. :D

I am thank full for everyone's comments and support. I have tried to close this poll through MOD but I have not heard back from them. I have started a new post (A Poll of the Industry) to gather the appropriate information. Then I will be able to start a new poll that better reflects everyone out their. Omitting the percentage of Hobbyists. Cheers, Jafo
Megan'sTouch 23875 Report post Posted August 1, 2011 .....so why cerb ladies who can meet classy cerbites in relatively safer cleaner indoor environments would choose to work on the streets!!!!!. Lots of reasons! First off, while I've met many wonderful gentlemen on CERB, there is no "classy" test to join CERB. Anyone with an internet connection can join. Reasons why she may work on the streets: -Escorting tends to be more of a long-term investment, and if she needs money *right now*, the streets could be a better bet. -She may not be able to receive clients at her home and from the best of my knowledge, it's difficult to make it as an outcall-only SP. -She may not have a credit card to be able to book a hotel. -She may not be hireable by an agency due to drug or other issues. -She may not have the organizational skills to book a room, get a phone number, screen calls, book appointments, etc. -She may not wish to spend more than 15 minutes with any client, or provide GFE, or get close. This can be distressing to some women, and they find the quick service easier on them. -The common theme I see the most in street work is the need for immediate money. -Ultimately each woman must decide what is best for herself, and it's not up to us to judge. Capital Hunter 18263 Report post Posted August 1, 2011 First off, I made it clear in my earlier post that I don't make judgement just surprise and concern. My understanding (from your earlier post and my own logic) is that they work both on streets as well as indoors (otherwise cerb would be useless for them since they can't advertise their availability on streets lol). So your reasons that they don't have credit card or organizational skills to book a room or wanting to offer a quick or non-GFE service is not fully applicable. However, yes the reason for need of immediate money is logical

Capital Hunter 18263 Report post Posted August 1, 2011 (edited) It has been quite an interesting poll results jafo. What I find interesting was that they so far 8 females have responded (total respondents of 23 minus the 15 male hobbyists) and 2 (over 20% are dancers) and more interesting that 3 (over 30% of females on cerb) are actually hobbyists (I assume hobbyist is a female who calls for another female or male escort for services) . Much larger than I thought in both dancer/hobbyist cases. I know it is a small sample and much larger samples are needed to reach conclusive results and also the fact that it was multiple choice may have clouded the results (one female rerspondent may have checked dancer, escort and hobbyist lol) but still it wasn't what I expected to see. In your next poll jafo (and I am looking forward to that) you may wish to take the male hobbyist part out (so that we have statistics and percentages for escorts, dancers and female hobbyists only lol). Just a suggestion. Also if it is not already (likely it is) please make it anonymous so that the SW question can be responded in anonimity. Thanks for the thread and the poll jafo. Just a suggestion. I have been getting some feedback form the others that Hobbyists should not be there. They would also like to see the following additions: Adult Film Actor / Actress Pornographic / Nude Model Phone Sex Operator Web Cam Sex Provider Domination / Submission Massage Provider / Masseuse Exotic Dancer / Stripper Service Provider - Escort Courtesan If anyone else has any suggestions I would love to hear them. Jafo Additional Comments: I would like to know what the ladies think of the poll being multiple choice. Does it cloud the outcome or does it give a more accurate representation. Comments and suggestions are always welcome.
