oneday08 119 Report post Posted September 13 Is it just me or are some girls announcing they are coming to NS and then go quiet/cancel their schedule trips. I feel like it’s one of those new scam to collect e-transfer or personal information.
DaveM2 171 Report post Posted September 13 (edited) I've noticed this as well. It's always girls with extremely high rates, given that NS has a relatively poor population (and high hotel costs) it's going to be harder for them to have a successful trip here than elsewhere. Once they announce the tour and get too few pre-bookings they decide not to bother which is reasonable. As to whether or not it's a scam a lot of them clearly state that the deposits are "non-refundable". If that's true I guess you either have to hope they eventually end up coming or travel yourself to meet them? Or maybe they wave that for tours? If it's the former I would call that a scam. Taigh815 299 Report post Posted September 13 I've spoken with several touring ladies recently, mostly from Montreal or Toronto, but also out west. The word in the community is that Halifax is actually becoming a favourite destination and to date the market is bearing their mostly higher costs without complaint. If they have a website or are active on X with plenty of fellow SW followers, they're probably legit'. It's always caveat emptor, but you can be fairly confident. And, if they're travelling, which is quite a financlal commitment from them, they're like pretty successful, therefore good at their job.
boredmale 55 Report post Posted September 13 Not saying the ones that fly from city to city are scams but it's basically a case you probably are a wee bit safer with ones who drive because if they going to city A, then City B and City C roughly in the same area during a short period of time, that means they are committed to doing the entire trip, even if they might not have the best prebookings for any given city. Taigh815 299 Report post Posted September 13 The ones I look for are those that announce, usually on X that they're planning a trip. Once they go firm it usually means they have bought flights, which are difficult to cancel.
MikeyInHalifax 196 Report post Posted September 13 (edited) Bear in mind that there are some who have a strong social media presence, website, etc., who still technically scam. I think you all know who I'm referring to. She of the never ending postponements Edited September 13 by MikeyInHalifax 1

She did refund my deposit though.

I strongly disagree with this. I regularly see legit girls on X repost leolist tier scams, get into conversations with those spam reply OF bots etc. It took me 30 seconds to find this example, the well known pornstar Autumn Falls who was just retweeted onto my feed from a high end provider who visited Halifax earlier this year (they follow each other too): https://x.com/Bookfallsx Note the 1400 followers, compared to the 1 million+ for her legit account: https://x.com/autumnxfallsx As far as I can tell this particular pornstar has never offered any kind of service, and I seriously doubt an active pornstar would only charge $700/hr. Website has several inconsistencies if you look closely but at a quick glance is similar to any other legit provider. This one is easy to pick out because the scammer didn't even bother to change the name of the girl from the pics they stole, and they picked a pretty public figure. I'm sure there are many others that aren't so easy to pick out.
harpo123 121 Report post Posted September 14 I've chatted with a few ladies who have done exactly that - posted on LL or Tryst - and then disappeared after a while. 3 of them I've talked to this year said the same thing - they list a travel date prior to bookkmg flights, to gauge the level of interest, and if it doesn't pan out they cancel their trip. One lady said she needs 8 solid bookings for a 3 day stay before she'll commit.
RobertDion 71 Report post Posted September 14 It's a win/win scenario for them, announce their arrival to a certain town, hype it up, have a deposit thing going to 'ensure guaranteed booking' and to reserve your spot you just need to put in some cash in advance. Their excuse: so that they get compensated for YOU wasting their time in case you back out or you cancel, or you're a no-show. Just like the lovely Angel, she keeps posting dates, of her arrival, it's been nearly a year she keeps postponing, but she keeps cashing in on deposits without showing up. If "clients cancelling" was such an issue, you'd think they would ALL demand deposits.
