6 degrees of Kevin Bacon

Recommended Posts

It's movie day... and I thought in keeping with the day to reintroduce an old fave... and an amazing cheat to the game.

If you are not familiar, the game was developed in 1994 based on the premise that you can name any actor and in as few links as possible make a relation to Kevin Bacon.

For example. Marilyn Monroe.

Marilyn Monroe was in "Some Like it Hot" with Jack Lemmon; Jack Lemmon was in "JFK" with Kevin Bacon. So Marilyn has a Bacon factor of 2, Jack Lemmon has a Bacon factor of 1.

Example 2. W.C. Fields

W.C. Fields was in "Follow the Boys" with Andy Devine; Andy Devine was in "How the West was Won" with Eli Wallach; Eli Wallach was in Mystic River with Kevin Bacon. Fields has a Bacon factor of 3, Devine has a 2, and Wallach has a 1.

The cheat?

They have taken the names of 1.5 million actors, 1.2 million movies and 200,000 nicknames from IMDB (The Internet Movie Database) and created a program to find the connections.

The most remote??? Some actor out there has a Bacon factor of 9. I have tried a few, the best I can come up with Hollywood actors is a 4.....

Give us your most remote Bacon factor!!!

Well I'm doing this sans coffee yet, but I hope I did it right

Steven Seagal (The Glimmer Man)-co-star was John M. Jackson (bad guy in this movie) He also starred in "A Few Good Men" early in the movie as Capt West. And Kevin Bacon starred in a Few Good Men as Capt Jack Ross.

So there is 3 degrees of seperation between Steven Seagal and Kevin Bacon

Hope that's right

Close... but Seagal is a two, John Jackson is a one. The Baconator is a zero.

Additional Comments:

And I'll try this again, if I got it right, there are five degrees of seperation between Kevin Bacon and Mel Gibson

Mel Gibson Conspiracy Theory (co star Patrick Stewart)

Patrick Stewart Star Trek First Contact (co star James Cromwell)

James Cromwell LA Confidential (also starring Russell Crowe)

Russell Crowe Man of Steel (co star Laurence Fishburne)

Laurence Fishburne starred with Kevin Bacon in Mystic River

How's that, did I pass LOL
