roamingguy 300292 Report post Posted May 22, 2020 Just did a random check on the internet and the cheese factory will be opening up it's store June 1st. Guess a little drive is in order that day, get some 10 year old cheddar, bag of fresh curd and we'll see what else awaits me. Store bought cheese doesn't come close in taste to cheese factory fresh cheese JMO🧀😋 Counting the days RG

In the early 60's, whenever we visited my grandparent's house which had a cheese factory about 100 yds (yeah we didn't use m back then!) there would be a nickel, dime, quarter, whichever left on the table downstairs for me. Any coin would provide me with a monstrous bag - 2 lbs. or more - of fresh cheese curds shortly after I awoke at 6 am. That little boy ate alot of cheese curd breakfasts! Heading to my local store now to buy some fresh St. Albert cheese curds. Thanks for the insiration, my friend!
Guest Report post Posted June 5, 2020 Not quite a highlight, but I suppose the closest thing to services with an attractive woman in a while. Was an ultrasound appointment for my kidneys. Started by going there with a full bladder and an empty stomach. Presented the three arm holes gown that took a few seconds to understand the logic, until noticing the instructions on the wall. And then the exam itself with that cold gel. The nurse/ultrasound technician was attractive enough even if couldn't really see her face with the mask. And after at least 20 minutes of probing, threw me a towel and asked me to clean myself. Wanted to reply: "normally, that's my line", but behaved as she likely heard it before. Will have to wait a month before knowing if things are better, worst or the same. Fun I suppose.

Hope you are okay GT - minus the pretty ultrasound technician your situation doesn't sound like a lot of fun! I'm fine now. But last year I passed a kidney stone, third time in a decade. Also discovered a cyst on the same kidney. Nothing life-threatening, but passing a stone is far from fun. For now, an urologist is following my situation and should know soon enough where things are going.
roamingguy 300292 Report post Posted June 11, 2020 Although I'm a little (OK a lot) more sore than normal it's because I had a doctor's appointment today. He was examining my knee and twisting it back and forth f*ck that hurts LOL Good news is it sounds like things are getting lined up for surgery. Doc is getting an appointment for me for an MRI and I've got a prescription to do physio in the meantime, hardest part of that is finding a physiotherapist that's open right now But a limp in the right direction LOL RG
roamingguy 300292 Report post Posted June 15, 2020 One thing about things opening up I found a physiotherapist...bonus in town (thought I'd be travelling out of town) Got an appointment 8am Friday 26 June to get physio on my knee Finally something is going to happen...for my good I hope RG
Guest Report post Posted June 16, 2020 Finally got a haircut and it feels so good. Morning didn't look so great as my normal place(a shopping mall) was chaotic with different lines for appointments and walk-ins. I gave up after a few minutes and started looking for small places and found one open with nobody waiting. Was a young barber with a reasonable price. I went from the Gary Busey, to the Forrest Gump. Still crazy, but much happier.
NotchJohnson 214123 Report post Posted July 2, 2020 Tuesday night I had my grand kids for a sleep over granddaughter is 4 and grandson is 1-1/2. During the night my grandson woke up crying and my granddaughter woke up and because she can't pick him up she started singing to him. I chose to stand back without her seeing me and listen to her sing to her younger brother and it eventually made him go back to sleep. It brought tears to my eyes. 5
NotchJohnson 214123 Report post Posted July 26, 2020 I had my son and his little family come for a visit yesterday and we spent a long time in and around the pool. We had so much fun in the sun and in the water. 2
roamingguy 300292 Report post Posted August 11, 2020 Got the call today, after months, quite a few months actually of waiting for an MRI for my knee, my appointment is now booked...in October but after all this time waiting October is just a short ways away. I can't say how good this news really is, first step in getting my knee fixed. I'd dance for joy but my knee is so f*cked up I just can't dance...but hopefully I'll get back to walking without a cane If you didn't gather I'm happy RG
waterat 20911 Report post Posted August 12, 2020 Good news RG! Having hung around a sport/orthopedic physio I've overheard her giving advice to folks who are both pre and post knee replacement. (All three of my kids see her, along with most of their national teammates and dad sits in the waiting area, lol) Get as strong as you can in preparation for surgery. Don't want to cause further damage but see your physio for an exercise program. Purchase a cryocuff for post surgery treatment - maybe good for pain management for pre surgery. Again, ask your physio. There are small pedal devices for working on range of motion while seated. Surgery is no silver bullet but with preparation and hard work you'll have the best outcome possible. Best wishes and happy fishing! 2
roamingguy 300292 Report post Posted September 23, 2020 Did something I haven't done in quite awhile...made semi final confirmations for a date. I've got a date all paid for (well except for gift and tip 😉 ) and after careful thought and taking precautions (testing etc) and the fact the lady told me she'd be available (I don't want to pressure a companion into a date if she didn't want to go) I'm taking a road trip (haven't done that in a long time) and have a six hour escape What's extra special, this is the first time I've met this lady...I haven't had a "first" date in a long long time Yes I'm excited about meeting her and my heart's pounding in anticipation...after all half the fun of a date is the building excitement...so I guess the fun of the date has started A Happy Rambling RG
roamingguy 300292 Report post Posted September 26, 2020 The building excitement continues. I've just got a room booked at a hotel for my upcoming date. Although this is true of each and every date I've had, whether with a companion I see (saw) regularly or a new (for lack of a better word) companion, my heart is pounding and my knees (and not because of my bad knee LOL) are weak. I just hope I don't make a fool out of myself when I answer her knock on my door A happy excited rambling RG
roamingguy 300292 Report post Posted October 13, 2020 Got a phone call from my doctor this morning. The results of my MRI (done on Friday) are in. The news...torn meniscus. Torn meniscus you say, how is that a highlight of the day. Now I'm getting referred to a specialist to see what can be done, after over a year of a knee in pain (normally on a scale of 1-10 the pain is somewhere around 7-9, couple times 10 a good day 5-6...Shouldn't pain level be 0 ???) finally doctors really believe I have a knee injury. Hopefully the knee gets fixed, whether scoped or replaced I still don't know but it'll be better than having to use a cane to walk This is the best Thanksgiving (day late) ever LOL A rambling RG

Guest lydiahardwood Report post Posted October 14, 2020 Okay my highlight of the day is an unusual one. I'm in Ukraine right now visiting a friend. Whenever I go away I like to try the local delicacies - Eastern European food has always been quite hit and miss with me, sometimes I love it and sometimes I just find it downright absurd. So, last night I went to a really traditional restaurant and ordered dumplings. I kinda expected them to be filled with meat or some kind of fresh veg, a bit like Gyoza. But they were filled with mashed potato 😂 Maybe I was over tired from travelling but I couldn't stop laughing, it's got to be one of the strangest foods I've eaten. Carbs full of carbs. I'm not complaining, call me Carbie. Have any of you guys tried some odd food lately?
waterat 20911 Report post Posted October 14, 2020 Two replies and my highlight: RG I think that's great news for you - hopefully scoped meniscus will do the trick but if replacement is in order so be it. Keep working with and tolerating your physio-terrorist. :) Carbie (aka Lydia): I hope you can track down a side of Ukrainian sausages next meal. Having wild camped for a month in the USSR in early '91 I experienced many 'adventurous' meals, all built around potatoes and cabbage. My highlight: breakfast today will be a second meal of the homemade pierogies from my nephew (a thanksgiving delivery to his lone wolf uncle) and yes, they're potato filled. His whole family eat vegetarian except when it's 'hot dog day' at school for the three kids. I love pierogies.
Guest lydiahardwood Report post Posted October 15, 2020 My highlight of the day is another weird and wonderful thing to happen to me in Ukraine. So I'm in a gym, using the lat pull down machine, literally in the middle of a set. These two guys come over and as I'm resting one of them gets on the machine that I am still sat on, so he's practically on my lap, and starts changing the weight settings 😂 I turn to him and say "I'm still using this". They both stare at me blankly and I thought "ah no, I knew I should have done more Ukranian on Duolingo before I came here", but to my surprise, one of them turns to my male friend and says "when will she be finished" 🤣 Me being me replied and said "I can speak for myself and I have 3 sets left". To which they turned to my friend again and said "How long in minutes" 😂 My friend and I then looked at each other and burst out laughing to the point it was uncontrollable. These poor guys looked so confused and eventually just left. Anyway, I'm not offended by the encounter, if anything it made my day because of how absurd it was. So there you go - I could start a chronicles of the odd things I've encountered here but for now I'll just keep updating you all on this thread. 😉

We had booked a week on a cruise (Caribbean) and a week on land (Santo Domingo) and every time we would stand in line at the buffet(breakfast, lunch and diner) the arrogant French from France would cut in between my wife and I. I put 2 of them in there place and for the rest of the week we were fine. The funny thing is that after the first time it happened we expected it so we stood close to one another but as soon as she would step a foot ahead there they were cutting in between us. Lol To make this a highlight of the day, they did have nice French ladies walking topless all around us but I never looked because I had just got married and newly married man don't do those kind of things...right?
roamingguy 300292 Report post Posted October 29, 2020 Back a few weeks ago got this text saying dinner reservations (for a date ) cancelled until further notice. This was when the COVID 19 restrictions were reinstated. So date postponed Well thinking about it...both of us, the lady and I, came up with an alternate date for our date. Even if restaurants still closed (a possibility) there are two options for dinner possible. So with that said the highlight of the day is hotel reservations have been made for our date A rambling in anticipation of a date with a beautiful lady. roamingguy 300292 Report post Posted October 30, 2020 Highlight of the Day today is slipped under my door was a Rent Reduction Variance from the Landlords. Using Greek lingo...aka it was written in accounting speak LOL couldn't decipher whether it was good news or bad news. After asking it's good news...getting money back, to the tune of $162.14 Bad news, didn't send me a cheque, instead my rent gets reduced next month by $162.14 Good news though, I pay my rent the same day as I have my date so the money can be put to better use (patching up my injuries from tripping and falling from continually getting weak in the legs from excitement LOL) An Excited With Anticipation Money And Date Wise Rambling RG
