Meaghan McLeod 179664 Report post Posted April 30, 2013 Going back home to spend some quality time with family and all the four legged furry's I have at home. A funny thing happened. I run a cat rescue. Well, a cat showed up last week. He was not a stray cat and he was determined to come inside my house. I thought, some people are so ignorant, why would they drop off a cat at my place. He was friendly, clean and looked similar to another cat I had neutered and found a new home for, but this one was smaller then Tommy. So, I put an ad on kijiji about a found cat, hoping he had just run away. Didn't get any responses, but I kept feeding this cat. Well, took him to the vet to get neutered, and it turns out he was already neutered. Well, I was looking at him the other day (not home often, so only saw him a couple of times since he arrived), and realized that he was in fact Tommy. That same day, the family that adopted him contacted me to say this was their cat, he had run away 2 weeks ago. So, I am glad that someone didn't abandon their cat with me, that Tommy obviously loves living with me. His new home was at least 3 kilometers away and it took him 2 weeks to reach me. Must be doing something right with these cats if they insist on coming back to me. I've spayed/neutered 18 cats so far, and counting. At least Tommy didn't need to be neutered twice. I thought it was funny that not one of us realized this was Tommy and not Jr. Ya gotta laugh at life sometimes.
PatrickGC 10792 Report post Posted April 30, 2013 Meaghan: That is an amazing story about Tommy. Our pets are really tremendous and they are very much aware of what goes on around them. It really makes one think if indeed they are after all sentient. They just don't see the need to brag about it the way humans do :) Just looking through some of my photos from a few years ago. Here's one from a hot day in August 2011 which really was the highlight of my day. Enjoy one, and all! PatrickGC

He went back to the old house which wasn't too far away but still far. He was gone for 11 days. He was also a stray kitten when I found him. He loves the outdoors and is gone for the night now.lol. He is a large sized tabby to begin with but I'm sure he has other people who feed him or call him Buttercup!

LeeRichards 177238 Report post Posted May 1, 2013 My Dad and I are very very close. Always have been. 3 days ago my dad was told he has a brain tumor. He and I discussed at great length yesterday....cancelled a little go for a drive getaway the two of us....for now....he is at peace about it, moving forward and will do what needs to be done. Soooo reason for my post. A very good friend of mine hadn't talked to his Dad for several years. Silly the reason why...IMO.....I called up my friend last night and told him about my Dad. I asked him...."So Mark. Do you want to get this news about your Dad someday, realizing he only may have a short time to live, knowing that you two aren't at peace? Forgiveness buddy forgiveness " He hung up on me. Mark's mother phoned me not long ago today crying and said "Thankyou....I don't know what you said to Mark but he is here and they are hugging...Thankyou Thankyou" Made my day :)
Guest webothscore Report post Posted May 1, 2013 Lee, while I am sorry to hear about your dad, I must applaud you as the favour you did for your friend is one of the healthiest reactions you can have following that news. Good for you buddy!

Wolf Knight 29667 Report post Posted May 6, 2013 (edited) My highlight is actually of yesterday or last night really. Saw a notice that Malika is considering doing us the honour of her company in St. John's this summer. So excited! (Background: A while back I had a trip to Toronto planned and hoped to be visiting with Malika this week. A specialist medical appointment that I've been waiting on for months had an opening for the same time as my trip so I had to send someone else in my place. I've been quite bummed ever since as I have it on good authority that she is a dream to spend time with.)
