Guest sh****s****r Report post Posted September 10, 2011 Afternoon, i find it interesting when you see ads posted on those other sites and you see ads posted with new faces and there using well established escort names in this city. A few of them, i understand this might be the name they use in the city that there coming from but for a bunch of them it's definitely not. My spidey sense goes off when i see those ads and tend to want to stay away. What do you think?
fortunateone 156618 Report post Posted September 12, 2011 I know what you mean. To me it seems like a lack of imagination, but in other cases it seems a deliberate attempt to deceive. We see a lot more two name names nowadays to help make things less fuzzy.
Guest sh****s****r Report post Posted September 12, 2011 Tend to see SP's that parachute in for a short period using very reputable names. I'm leaning more to deception, make the quick buck based on the reputable girls name because by the time the client realizes that's the not SP they read about they go through with the appointment away. It's not like that SP is going to be hurt for business because there only in for a short period and may not return.
Kubrickfan 12836 Report post Posted September 12, 2011 With a little homework, you can usually figure these things out. For instance, if there is a lady using a familiar name, but they are using it on a forum other than cerb, you can ask one of the guys, or ... Heck ... Even PM the lady to see if that's the same person. Or check to see if her listing here on cerb and phone number is the same as in the ad. Our patron saint of bait and switch is Cowboy Kenny ... Check out his profile for more information.
Andee 220524 Report post Posted September 12, 2011 I would say pay them no mind. There are many "original" "legit" ladies who you can find on CERB and Escorts-Canada to choose from that you don't even need to worry about the copycats. Copycats, scammers and fly-by-nights are all part of this and many other types of business. Trying to figure out why is like hitting your head against a brick wall. Who knows why people do what they do. If in doubt, check the diary. That's what it's there for. http://www.cowboysdiary.info/
CMJ 14869 Report post Posted September 12, 2011 Your name in the industry is your "brand" - the more unique you can be the more brand potential you have. Why would anyone want to be someone else?
BownChickaBown 4829 Report post Posted September 12, 2011 IMHO Your name in the industry is your "brand"... That's where TM (trademark) law would apply, otherwise - fair game(ish). (*Note: This is not legal advice, and thank someones god I am not a lawyer nor play one online.) ...the more unique you can be the more brand potential you have. Brand recognition can be very valuable - and thus requires protection if one doesn't want others to erode the investment one might of put into building their brand to begin with, as greed breeds mean deeds endlessly when it comes selfish thieves trying to make a fly-by-night buck off of ones good name and business. Good faith is just that - faith. No protection is just that - no protection. Why would anyone want to be someone else? Hmmm, for $$$ - quick and easy cash - the kind most selfish people try to get. Im no SP - but I hobby - and Bait n Switch is alive in well in this industry as much as anywhere else. ...as much as some people burn their own bridges and destroy their brands all on their own, with the same selfish greed to make quick and easy $$$. ...would taste as sweet ;)
Lexy Grace 103697 Report post Posted September 14, 2011 I chose to use Lexy with a "Y" it just goes with Sexy Lexy and refer to myself as Sexy Lady Lexy in most of my ads because ladies have been known (no one from here) to pretended to be me but spell it different with an "I" in their Halifax ads. I always use Lexy902, Lexy and Sexy Lady Lexy in my ads or on other forums and always include my website link. Very unprofessional to ride on the tail coat of someone else. Guest C*****tte Report post Posted September 14, 2011 When I started I was named by Giselle at French Kiss Society. We did research on my name so it would be definitely unique in Montreal and then fairly unique across the country. If you can Google your favourite actor or actress you can Google your work name. ;-)

Meg O'Ryan 266444 Report post Posted September 14, 2011 I chose Meg (not Megan) for personal reasons and did not even know about Megan's Touch at the time! Since then, I have seen a few variations on the name but there is only one megforfun and only one Megan's Touch! :)

Since then, I have seen a few variations on the name but there is only one megforfun and only one Megan's Touch! :) I used to be Dogforfun in the town I came from, but out of respect for Meg, I changed my to Old Dog. stevecurious 42059 Report post Posted September 15, 2011 I was originally going to use the name George instead of my real name of Steve in my handle. Thankfully I didn't because if I had when I introduced myself a la James Bond it wouldn't have sounded quite right....Curious, George.

Phaedrus 209521 Report post Posted September 15, 2011 (edited) We'll just have to see how long post 14 and the author remain on board. Indeed. I can't help but notice that this is the user's first post after making the five required to get past the initial moderation period, so perhaps his IP address should be banned too, in the interests of preventing a repeat with a new account... ================ Update: HAHAHA! In the time it took me to post that, that particular instance of douchebaggery has been removed (kudos, Mod!). Oh, you gotta be quick on the Interwebs... So, for everyone else reading this, the "post 14" to which Old Dog referred is NOT stevecurious' post which has now inherited that unfortunate number... April Dawn 12207 Report post Posted September 15, 2011 Indeed... Steve is a keeper. I completely agree :p Now back to the topic at hand. Or underhand as the case may be with using established names. When I chose my name I used my birth month and my favorite time of day then googled it plus escort. If I could do that with zero previous contact to the sex trade then anyone else can. Using an established name to me definetly reeks of dishonesty especially if they are made aware of the fact. In all actuality its bait and switch. Guest t**obb**** Report post Posted September 16, 2011 Its hard to copy contact information. (Of course I mean after getting past any screening, once your receive an email or phone number.) See your preferred ladies often enough to know their contact info and this will never be a problem. Some ladies will rebrand themselves under new names to avoid confusion, but again contact info stays the same.
