Summer Meadows 1676 Report post Posted September 12, 2011 Please forgive me if this has been asked before but I couldn't find any posts on the subject here or by googling it. I had some new pics taken with a digi cam and am trying to edit them (crop my face out) but how do I make it so noone can use windows to revert them back to the originals and therefore be able to see my face? I've tried making them read-only then make a copy and make the copy read only and delete the original but I keep having the option to uncheck read-only and be able to revert back to originals and see my face. How do I make it so my pics can't be edited or reverted? Remove properties doesn't work. It tells me to set up an association to be able to remove properties but I can't figure out how to do it or if that will even make my pics safe. I'm running vista home basic (For now!) Any ideas? The business where you have the option to undo your changes is visible only to you. Save your modified picture to a new file. Email the picture to yourself and I'm pretty sure you will not see the option to revert to the original. When you have fixed up your pix to your liking go ahead and put them in your CERB album. XO Additional Comments: Well I emailed them to myself and saved to desktop and sure enough I am still able to revert back to the originals! Any other things I could try? I can't figure out why I can't find any info about this on the net. I'm about to start checking pics and see if others do revert back also. dgb123 110 Report post Posted September 13, 2011 I just thought since were on the subject some people might like some general tips on images for the web. - use GIFs, JPEGs, and PNGs for all of your images - for pictures of people JPEgs are generally best. - convert the resolution to 72dpi, that's all that browsers can render. Any higher resolution is just a waste of bandwidth, and you can probably do a better job of converting the resolution than the browser can anyways. - change the image size to what you want it displayed as. Using html to set the image size doesn't actually change the image file size, just how it is rendered. You should create an image of the correct size rather than let the browser mangle your image. Adobe photoshop is a great tool for doing all this stuff, but it is very spendy and takes a while to learn how to use. The GIMP (http://www.gimp.org) can do everything photoshop does and it's free, it also takes a while to learn. But if images are important to you it might be worth your while to download it and learn how to use it. There are lots of tutorials on youtube.
